Chapter 21- Bethany Ann (Edited)

A/N: Question, who is a guy and reading my story? I wanna know. I know that most of my stories attract a higher female crowd than not.

'Stay cautious,' Laurie said while I started to walk past Cassandra, not being nice about moving her out of my way. 'I don't trust her.'

I didn't need to be told twice, because I didn't trust her either. I was sure that I could throw her far, but I wasn't going to try that with all the Wolves that were watching me and my every move. My whole body was tense, and my head was cocked a little.

If someone was watching me, then they would notice that while I was walking away, I was actually paying attention to what the girl was doing behind me. They would see that all my senses were concentrated on her, even though I was walking away, making it seem like that I didn't care about her.

I took a deep breath and waited for whatever happened. I knew that she was going to try to punch me, but I wasn't going to let her. I had a hand on my scarf, ready to use that as a weapon if need be. I knew that I would get suspended for fighting, so I was going to try not to lay a hand on her but make it impossible for her to hit me.

There was a small woosh, and I knew that she had sent her fist towards me. As quick as a snake, I moved to the side, pulling my scarf off before flicking it at her wrist, making it tie around her wrist.

Cassandra yelped in surprise, while I moved to her right and wrapped up her other hand that she had sent towards me. "Let go of me," she gasped while she struggled against my hold on her hands.

"And let you hit me?" I asked with bark of laughter after it. "Hell, no. You need to behave yourself, and then I will think about it." A smirk appeared on my lips while I watched her struggle.

"I'll break the scarf," she warned.

"I have others," I replied. "I don't care if you tear this one apart or not." I tightened it around her body, before I stood in front of her and looked at my handiwork. A smirk appeared on my face while I saw that she was still struggling to take it off. "Now, I need to get going." With that, I turned away from her and started to walk away.

"Come at me, Bitch. Or are you a chicken?" Cassandra sneered.

"I'm not in the mood to get in a fight with you," I replied, not turning to look at her. "I have better things to do than to deal with a female that wants to be Top Dog but isn't." I turned to look at her. "When you actually stop acting like a bitch, that only cares about herself, let me know."

After that, I turned around and walked out of the cafeteria with Cassandra calling me names, and I actually could really care less.

"You are actually really stupid or really brave," someone said behind me.

I turned around to see that it was one of the people that were part of Becca's group that was behind me. My body relaxed slightly, because I had thought that it was one of the Wolves trying to say something to me.

The male was fairly good looking. He had blonde hair that was really curly and bushy. He had blue eyes that hid underneath long, blonde eyelashes. His skin was fairly pale, and it looked like that he would be getting very sunburnt in the summer time.

The male stood at 6'5 with some build to him. He had a lip ring that he seemed to be playing with, moving it around with his tongue.

I raised an eyebrow. "And what's it to you?" I asked, staring him in the eyes.

The male shrugged his shoulder before holding out his hand. "I'm Vincent," he said, waiting for me to take his hand. There was a frown on his face when I made no move to take his hand. "What? You are not going to shake my hand because I'm gay?"

I raised my eyebrow further, clutching my straps to keep me from punching him in the face. "One, I did not know you were gay," I replied. "Two, I don't care if you are gay or straight. Three, I don't trust easily, and I do not like touching people and so forth. Four, I'm not a fan of the male species, and the reason why is classified."

Vincent glanced me up and down, and his eyes landed on my scar that reached almost to my jaw. HIs eyes widened in surprise while he glanced around, probably to make sure that there were not any other bruises on me.

"The scar is old," I said, making him look back into my eyes. "And is one of the reasons why I don't trust men. Now, why did you follow me out?"

"You said you needed to find a phone to use. You can use mine," he replied, his whole body relaxing, slightly. "Or do you not trust me enough to use my phone." There was a teasing smirk on his face while he reached into his back pocket and pulled out a fancy phone. He held it out to me, having both eyebrows raised.

I took it from him, nodding my head in thanks. "There a password?"

"Nope," he replied, popping the 'p'. "I took it off so you could use it. Who are you going to call?"

"My first boss of the day," I replied, dialing the number to the Auto Shop. I glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow when I saw that there was a bit of shock in his eyes.

"How many jobs do you have?" he asked, shocked.

"Four," I replied, having the phone close to my ear. "Some nights I work two jobs in one day."

"And you are in Advance Placement and Honors classes?"

I nodded my head before I heard a female say 'Hello?'. "Hey, Estela. It's Bethany Ann. Can you give the phone to Josè?"

"Sì, Señorita," she replied, before she buzzed me to Josè.

"Hello?" a male asked. "This is Josè Hernandez, speaking?"

"Hey, it's Bethany Ann."

"Did your truck break down?" There was a sense of worry in his voice, and I couldn't help but have a small grin on my face, glad that he cared about me.

"Nah. I did get sent to a new school though," I replied. "I'll be late getting there."

"Do you have to work tonight?"

"Mmhmm."

"Come when you can, and you can leave at five. You'll get full pay."

"Bu-"

"No buts. You get full pay."

I huffed, knowing that it was useless to argue. "Fine," I muttered. "I'll see you when I get there." With that I hung up the phone and handed it to Vincent, who was patiently waiting. "Thanks," I said, hating the feeling of the thanks coming from my tongue. I wasn't used to it.

"No problem. I'll see you around." With that, Vincent walked away, not looking back.

I shook my head before I started to walk to my next class, knowing that I was going to be very early. Some weight was lifted off of my shoulders, because I was going to get a full day's pay, even though I would be going to get there a bit late. I did need the money, so I wasn't going to complain.
