Chapter 12- Bethany Ann (Edited)

My whole body grew tense when I saw the boy standing in front of me. I looked into his silver/gray eyes and saw that he was tired. His black hair was ruffled from where he had fallen asleep in the bushes. He looked really cold, which made me tense and worry about this boy. The young boy stood at 4'0 and was at the age of 8 years, even though he sometimes acted more mature than that.

"Donovan?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. I, quickly, glanced around making sure that we were alone before looking at him. "What are you doing out here?"

"Mom sent me out," he said, yawning. "You weren't home, so I just hid." He held his hand up, stopping me from talking. "I know what you are going to say, that it was dangerous and stupid to do that, since we live where we live. However, it's either seeing my mother getting beaten by my father or hiding. I made sure that no one knew I was there."

I frowned and shook my head, hating the fact that he was right. "You are too smart for your own good." I sighed and took my keys out of my pocket and opened the door, letting him in first. "Get on in. I'll make you a cup of hot chocolate."

Donovan nodded his head and walked into the room. He didn't say anything while he climbed onto my bed, curled into a ball, and pulled the covers over him. "Your blankets smell good," he said, his voice showing how tired he was. "It smells like strawberries and kiwis."

I snorted and shook my head, while I closed and locked the door. I could hear the soft whimpers from the next room, and I knew that it was from Carrie, his mother. I growled softly, barely loud enough for him to hear while I turned on the music. He didn't need to hear the sound of her pained filled screams, while his father did what he did to her.

Quickly, I shook my head while I made him a cup of hot chocolate. Soft snores caught my attention, and I looked up to see that he was asleep in my bed, his black hair the only thing sticking out from underneath the blankets.

'We have to help them,' Laurie said, making me hum in agreement.

I took a sip of the hot chocolate and thought about it. I knew that they needed to leave. Carrie had been through this pain, since she gave birth to Donovan when she was 15 years old. That was 8 years of abuse that she had suffered from the man whom she had thought loved her. However, he didn't, not the way she should be treated.

I shook my head before going over to my desk. I knew what I wanted to do, and I was going to make sure that they weren't going to be found by him. A small smirk appeared on my face as I formed the plan.

As soon as 2am hit, I had everything done and planned. A call had been made to a "friend" of mine up in England, who had wanted me to live up with him. However, I never did, but each year, he would send me a ticket or two, hoping that I would take his offer.

Yes, he was a Werewolf and an Alpha, but he didn't have a mate or anything like that, so I was sure that was one of the reasons on why he wanted me to go over there. Carrie was human, but she did know about Werewolves and such, almost getting killed by one, but she didn't after I had killed it. She was sworn to secrecy, and I would've known if she had uttered a word about it to anyone, which she never did.

I shook my head and looked in the bag, making sure that I had the letter, two passports, and everything else, including $500 in cash. I nodded my head, seeing that everything was in there before zipping it up.

As soon as I zipped up the bag, there was a soft knock on my door, indicating that Carrie was at the door. "Bethany Ann?" her voice came through the door in a soft whisper. "Are you awake?"

I rolled my eyes and stood, going to the door. 'She should know by now that I'd stay up if Donovan is over,' I told Laurie, making her chuckle. I shook my head and unlocked my door, opened it before pulling her into the room and locking it, again. "Your son's asleep. Let's talk in the bathroom." My voice was soft, while I walked into the small bathroom.

Carrie followed me, staying silent. Her blonde hair fell lifeless around her heart shaped face, while her silver/gray eyes were closed. She knew that I knew that she was hurting by the way she limped, and she knew that I was going to take care of her. "You don't have to," she said, trying to start the argument over again.

I grunted and pointed to the tub, indicating that she needed to strip, so I can make sure that her wounds are taken care of. I didn't say anything while I got all the medical supplies as well as an extra set of clothing for her. "You know that I will do this, and you can not stop me." My voice was hard. "And, this is the last time that you are staying over at that place." I went back in to see all the bruises on her bruised and battered body, and I couldn't help but let out a feral growl, while Laurie tried to take control.

Carrie's eyes widened in shock, before a sheepish grin appeared on her face. "I forgot that you were half Werewolf," she said, while I started to take care of her. "But, why are saying that this is the last time I'm staying at that place?"

I sighed as I wrapped her wrist, finally keeping Laurie at bay. "One, I have a mate, and I'm sure that he will be wanting me to move in with him." I paused and rolled my eyes, not wanting to think about that. "Two, Laurie and I both hate to see you hurt so bad, because it is not right. Three, I don't want either you or Donovan to have to live through that pain any more. And, four, you are both moving to England." I finished her wrist before looking up to see that her eyes were wide open.

"Wha-?" she asked, before she couldn't say anything else.

"I have a "friend" who has a pack up in England. He had wanted me to come live with him, but I don't do packs nor do I do Wolves. He's been sending me tickets that somehow don't expire for a whole year, so you don't have to worry about that. You don't have to worry about passports, because I got those taken care of also."

"But... why?"

I looked at her. "Because, no one needs to go through the pain of being abused."

Worry filled her face. "What if Rick finds out what you did? You know he'll come after you."

"And I'm counting on him to be drunk and then my "mate" to be close by when that happens," I replied. "It doesn't help that the male is an Alpha," I muttered under my breath. I shook my head, glad that she didn't hear me.

"But what if I'm not taken into the pack?"

"Oh, you will be. I'm sending a letter that states what I want, and if he doesn't then he has to deal with a redhead's anger." A smirk appeared on my face. "He had all ready told me that he was scared of me, and basically knows what I can do."

Carrie smiled a little. Her whole body relaxed, slightly. "How old is this Alpha, by the way?"

"23," I replied. "His name is Andrew."

Carrie nodded before it turned into a frown. "I won't have any money."

"Don't worry about that. I'm giving you $500." I didn't look up at her while I finished her other wounds.

Carrie looked at me shocked. "But..."

"You are taking it. No buts." I sighed and shook my head before handing over the clothes. I stood up and walked towards the door. "Get dressed. We are leaving soon."

"Where?"

I stood and smirked a little. "My teacher's house. He'll take you to the airport." With that, I closed the door and left.

I pulled the truck to my teacher's house and sighed. My whole body was tense, while I looked at Carrie who had Donovan in her lap. "Ready?" I asked. A smirk appeared on my face while she shook her head no. "You'll be fine." With that, I opened the truck door and climbed out, keeping the door open for them to get out, also.

I knew that it was late, but I knew that they couldn't stay any longer. They would get killed if they did, and I wasn't going to let that happen.

Quickly, I shook my head and glanced at them. "Stay by the truck," I ordered Carrie before I made my way to the door. A light was on in the living room, and I knew that it meant that someone was up. I bit back a sigh and knocked on the door, loud enough for them to hear.

A shotgun was cocked, and I couldn't help but smirk while a shadowy figure came forward towards the door. "Who is it?" a male asked. There was a warning sense in his tone, indicating that he wasn't one to be messed with.

"A poor, defenseless, student," I replied, not keeping the smirk out of my voice. I stuffed my hands into my pocket and waited for him to open the door.

A curtain was moved so the person can see who it was before the door opened, revealing Mr. Lumpkin. "Poor, I can understand. Defenseless, I don't think so," he replied. He frowned and glanced around. "What are you doing here? Don't you know the time?"

"2:30am, I know," I replied. "But, I need your help."

Mr. Lumpkin frowned, concerned. It wasn't everyday that I asked for his help, so he knew that it meant I or someone was in trouble. "What is it?"

"I need you to give a friend of mine a ride to the airport." I held up my hand, silencing him. "Remember the kid and the mother I told you about? They need to get out now. I have everything taken care of and then they have a place to stay when they get there." I glanced around before lowering my voice. "They know about Werewolves, well Carrie does. I had saved her life a couple of years ago from one."

Mr. Lumpkin's frown deepened and worry appeared in his eyes. "Where are they going?"

"England, and that's all I'm sayin'."

"What about her "husband"?"

"Won't know where she is. I won't tell him, even if he tries to beat it out of me."

"You could get killed."

"Highly doubt that," I replied. "Now, are you in? Times wasting away."

Mr. Lumpkin frowned before he nodded his head. "All right."

I nodded my head and looked at my truck to see Carrie watching us. I nodded my head, indicating that it was time. "Thanks," I replied, watching as Carrie carried Donovan towards us, with the bag on her back. "I really appreciate it."

Mr. Lumpkin nodded his head and gestured his head for them to go on in. "I'll see you at school tomorrow?" he asked.

I smirked. "Bright and early," I replied. With that, I nodded my head goodbye before going to my truck and going home. I knew that I did a good thing, because I knew that she wouldn't be beaten any more and Donovan will have friends his age that he can play with.

I shook my head and sighed, hoping that he wouldn't ask about her. However, I couldn't read the future, so I wouldn't know.
