Georgia was sitting at the desk she found out to be her usual spot after a week in it when she noticed Owen rushing into the class, Hector following behind him.
Hector smiled at the girl, since he is a few houses down from hers, and pushed his best friend to continue down to an empty spot instead of letting him gawk at the new girl and make a fool out of himself. He didn't understand what he saw in the girl. Sure she's beautiful but it was never like Owen to suddenly like someone that he barely new.
Maybe Georgia was a serious topic to Owen... Hector had to find out.
Plopping next to Owen's chair, Hector watched as his best friend's eyes never left the girl. Wow, Hector felt his heart beating a bit faster when he realized how serious Owen was being. The guy looked like he was ready to take the first jump to be with the new girl. Owen was devoting his whole attention to her.
Hector felt uneasy after realizing that.
Owen was next to him, but he wasn't with him.
Before he could figure things out, the teacher walked in, focused on starting his class as soon as possible, and everything just shut down from there.
Owen, couldn't concentrate. All he could think about was how he was going to get Georgia's attention. And how she looked like a movie star in a Teenage movie, sitting there in a normal seat in a normal class, just letting him watch her - even though she probably wouldn't if she ever knew.
"Owen!"
The guy snapped back to reality to notice that the students were getting up and leaving the class. Georgia wasn't there in her perfect seat anymore. In fact, Georgia wasn't even in the classroom.
"The bell rang idiot, you didn't even realize."
Owen gave Hector an apologetic look, noticing that Hector looked serious. He noted to himself to ask what that was about later on the way home.
But before that, he had to corner Georgia down and talk to her. He'll go up to her and ask jokingly, why she hadn't waited for him to bus on the bus this morning.
Nodding to himself, brushing past Hector, he called out that he'll meet him during lunch, Owen dashed out to look for Georgia before her next class. Hector didn't have time to react as he watched his friend ditch him for the hundredth time, if he started to realize the new routine, for the new girl.
Owen barely made it to the other side of the school when he noticed Georgia moving inside with one of her friends that she'd made since moving. Before he could catch his breath, Owen called out.
"Georgia!"
A few faces turned to see where the sound came from and then they continued on their way. Georgia, her neck snapping around so fast, Owen questioned how it stayed tacked. "Owen?"
Owen gleamed on the inside that she knew his name.
Of course she does, you stupid, Owen thought to himself. You introduced yourself and say good morning every school at the bus stop, and you share the same classes for some subjects.
"Hey, yeah. I called you."
Georgia gave an award worthy smirk-slash-smile. Her eyes glittered in Owen's mind. "Yeah, I kind of figured. You were pretty loud."
"Um, uh, yeah..." Owen stumbled with his words and couldn't believe for making a fool out of himself. So, as the only smart thing to do, he let his mouth take all the control and didn't worry about worrying on what to say.
And that's know what happened next, happened next.
"Would you like to go out with me to get to know each other, and maybe see if we're good together and start a relationship?"
And... scene.
Owen drowned in embarrassment and started to build strength to be rejected in front of people he knew and didn't know. And he secretly thanked god that Hector wasn't there to witness it.
"Sure..."
Owen blinked to meet Georgia's eyes. They looked like freedom all of a sudden.
"You seem like a genuine guy, and I do like you so far. So, I don't see why not." Georgia gave him a warm smile. It seemed like a smile she gave only to the boys she liked. "But, we should take it slow right, and see where this goes instead of getting each other hurt. We are in the last year of high school."
Owen knew why he liked her.
So, he nodded. That, and he didn't know how to react because this wasn't his plan. Whatever that was happening, he didn't mind.
"I've got to get to class so, we'll talk later? How about after school?"
Owen nodded for that as well.
Georgia gave him that same smile, before she reached out and hugged him a quick goodbye.
Owen could feel the hug even if it was a few seconds. It didn't feel special, but he felt content.
Wow, Owen couldn't believe his head. Wait, his mind.
"Owen!" Josh walked over to him with Ben right behind with a great smile. "I saw what happened, no way!"
Josh slapped his friend on the back and shook him a few times. It helped Owen bring himself back onto his feet.
"You have to take us out for a treat bro, no way am I missing out on free food for your success on finally talking to the girl."
Ben joined the conversation as they walked over to their next class. "Not just talk Josh, he asked her out."
Josh nodded, his dirty blonde hair moving along with it. "And soon we can wave goodbye to our boy as he gets busy hanging out with his girlfriend and starts to have no time to spend time with us..."
He faked a sad look and dragged the two into the classroom.
That class though, dragged on for hours for Owen. He didn't concentrate anyway. His mind was filled with emptiness since Georgia accepted to date him. It had been way too easy.
"It'd been too easy?!" Hector looked bewildered at his best friend as they sat down for lunch at their usual table. A few of their others friends joined over, all discussing about their lives and what'd happened between the past two classes.
The whole sitting area of the grounds were getting filled with students and noise. Owen had just finished telling his best friend what had happened and how he was feeling.
"No, I'm just saying, I didn't think it'd be done just like that."
Josh shook his head at Owen, stuffing his face with his lunch. "Just go with the flow Owen."
"I know, I am happy!"
Hector couldn't figure out if he was feeling confused, disturbed, upset or hilarious. "Just as what Josh says, you're the one who was head over heals with her. Now you have a chance. If you think it's too easy, try moving on and getting me to fall in love with you. That'd bring some spark into your life."
