Catbird.... man?

Author's Note: Ah, I've finally decided to get back to writing Catty. Sorry it took so long, but I got a tad bit distracted with Masked and other things.

On top of that, with what I have of Catty so far, the story is actually getting close to its conclusion. Speaking of stories, there's gonna be a lot of oneshots between Catty and the next story. Also, the stakes in the next mainline story are a bit... Well, I shouldn't spoil it.

Anyways, I wrote this part a while ago, and I like it a decent amount...

 Enjoy!

 Grian's POV:

My entire body was sore as my tail twitched. Slowly, I rolled onto my side and stretched my fingers out in order to grip the soft mattress.

 Fingers....?

 Soft mattress....?

I tiredly opened my eyes and stared at my human hand that still had claws and paw pads. My tail twitched again as I traced my arm with a small frown. My arm was still covered in blond fur that continued throughout my whole body.

On top of that, my legs were still cat-like and I still had the ears. I frowned and reached my hand up to my face. Good, my face is normal. Well, my nose doesn't feel normal. It still feels like a cat nose.

With a tired, forceful huff, I forced myself to sit up and looked around my immediate area on the bed.

 The bed was huge.

No, it's not that the bed was huge.

 It's that I was....

 I'm.... I'm still small.

I'm not as small as I was in the full cat body, but I'm still really short. In theory, if I had gotten more of the woman's curse magic through my system, then maybe I would be back in my normal form again.

My ears twitched as I grumbled.

 I got so close.

Once again, I got so close to being myself again.

The only positive to this is that I'm more human than what I was originally. The other good thing is that I have hands now. With hands, I can now hold things and hold onto people without them holding me.

I blinked a couple more times and sighed as my ears went back. I'm small still. My ears still aren't back to normal. Therefore, I can't wear my glasses. On top of that, I don't even know where my glasses are.

 Are they with Scar?

Are they here in this room?

 I have no clue.

My tail thrashed as I finally started to assess the room I was in.

 The medbay at Xisuma's base.

Right, I was drowning after being thrown into the river. Honestly, with how I woke up, I nearly forgot that I nearly died in this cat-like form.

Would that've made the form more permanent up respawn, I wonder. I honestly doubt it would, but I'm glad that Void saved me before I could find out.

Speaking of Void, the bee hybrid wasn't in the room. I perked up ears up and listened carefully: Heavy, pained breaths and weak grumbles greeted me.

Good, it seemed like Doc and Bdubs managed to bring Etho and Beef here safely. I'm relieved that the two managed to get along with each other long enough in order to get our friends to safety.

I continued to look around the darkened room and spotted the large, gray ball of fur sleeping on a lowered mattress and within a bunch of blankets.

 Cub?

 Cub.

 I frowned.

It seemed like the cat lady stole Cub's strength as well. She got what she needed in the end, and she'll continue to go after the symbols until she can achieve her goal.

Whatever her goal may be, of course.

Now, I hope that Void isn't here and is helping Scar track the woman down. He probably is here though. My tail twitched as a lantern was lit in the doorway. I turned my head as my ears twitched.

Xisuma was carefully holding a blue lantern in his bee claws. The hybrid's antenna twitched as he gave me a sad smile.

" Can you speak English, Grian?" X questioned as I opened my mouth to speak.

" Mrrrow..." My ears lowered as I put my hand to my mouth and rubbed against it.

 Great.

 I still can't talk properly.

I let out a small grumble as I looked at my paws and then back up at X.  The bee hybrid walked further into the room and rested the lantern onto the table next to my bed. I looked up at him as he sat down on my bed.

" That'z quite botherzome." X spoke in a whisper as I nodded. I rested my chin upon my hands and let out a sigh.

Once I was finished sighing, X let out a loud buzz as he quickly reached for this bag. My fur bristled as I felt the sharp gust of wind that came off of the bee's wings. X continued to dig through the seemingly bottomless bag of admin items until he brought out what looked similar to a collar with a microphone sewn in.

When did he have the time to make that?

I tilted my head to the side as my ears twitched. X looked towards me as he unclipped the collar, " Remember last season when you, Iskall, and Mumbo were all possessed by those parasites?" X questioned and I immediately hissed.

Everything fluffed up as I instinctually moved away from X and into the corner of the bed. X moved his head back slightly, " Ah, " his antennae lowered slightly, " Did I ztrike a bad chord, Grian?" he put his claw to the back of his head.

I hissed more as I laid down and curled up with my face hidden behind my tail. X frowned at me, " Calm down mate. I'm sorry that I brought it up." his antenna raised as I hissed again.

For some reason, I can't seem to stop myself. I can barely remember being controlled by that thing, but I guess my body can remember the feelings of being controlled by a parasitic entity. I shuddered slightly and blinked a couple of times.

X let out a sigh, " Anyways, back to what I was going to say. You know how my brother and I have been turned into beez rather recently?" he tilted his head as I nodded. X continued as he put his claw under my stomach and lifted me towards him.

Once again on pure instinct, my legs and arms starts to wiggle around. I let out an annoyed hiss and looked up at him as he put the collar around my neck.

" Zee, originally, I made this as a arm band so I could be able to tune my buzzing to a voice." X smiled as he started to turn the dial on the little microphone box, " The thing iz that I kept my voice with just a tad bit of buzzing ztill."

Now, he saw my current predicament and changed his band to a collar: A collar that could hopefully allow me to talk once again.

My tail twitched as I watched X mess with the dial until a staticky signal came from within the box. I hissed causing a voice to come from the box.

 " That sound is horrible..."

I blinked a couple of times. That was my voice; it was just more robotic. My tail twitched as I looked up at Xisuma again, " This is impressive, X." I stuck my tongue out.

X nodded, " Indeed. Now, I just need to do a little bit more adjustments so that we can't read all your thoughts fully."

I gave him a blank look as my tail twitched, " Mmm... Yeah, I don't want you to read my thoughts mate."

" How's uh. How's Cub and the others doing?" I questioned as X let out a soft yawn, " They're stable now. This rather elusive foe of ours drained them of all their strength..." he briefly paused in order to look at the three hermits.

I frowned, " Well, I knew that already."

I blinked, " Sorry, that was uh..." I narrowed my eyes slightly, " I uh- Didn't mean to say that out loud..."

X let out a small laugh, " I can't blame you for zaying that zo sarcastically, Grian." he continued to adjust the dial, " You did already know what happened to them before I did..." he sighed as I nodded.

I turned my head towards Etho as a white mist came from his mouth as he slowly rolled onto his side. My ears lowered as X adjusted the collar around my neck one last time before letting go. The two of us were silent as X got off of the bed and walked over to Etho.

The bee hybrid gently took out a wooly blanket and laid it over Etho's body. Etho let out a small sniffle as he closed his slightly open mouth with a small 'snrk' sound. X gently ran his claw through Etho's gray hair, " Easy there Etho...." he whispered as Etho slowly settled back down into a slightly more restful sleep.

" Where's your brother and Scar?" I questioned as X started to go around the room to check on the others. The bee hybrid's antenna twitched again, " Void is going to see what Mighty knows about the cat woman. Scar and False are trying to save Rendog from the same state as these three."

I nodded again then immediately regretted it.

 " I don't... feel... good..."

The room started spinning as I slowly laid back down onto the bed. A shocked squeak-like noise came from X as he hovered over to me.

X put his claw to my cheek and looked closely into my eyes. The room was still spinning as I watched X put something to my forehead: something that was connected to his communicator.

" Oh dear... It appears like your body's still changing..." X gave me a hopeful but concerned look. I nodded and slowly closed my eyes as a blanket was wrapped around me.

" Just... Just try and sleep, Grian. Once you awake again, I'm pozitive that you'll feel better..." X whispered as I nodded, " Whaaaat.... What about Doc n' Bdubssss?" I questioned as my eyes continued to close as I curled in on myself.

Before I could hear X's answer, my body was getting heavier with sleep.  I purred slightly as the need of sleep overtook my will to remain awake.
