As we headed back, I couldn't help but notice things about her that I hadn't seen before. She had scars all over her back and shoulders, even though she tried to hide it with an old t-shirt, ripped at the sleeves, but it just didn't fit her right. I knew she could handle herself, but I had a sudden urge to wrap my arms around her and keep her in the woods, where I could protect her.

"Well, I guess we should separate before we have to explain how we met again." I told her, sad to part.

"Yeah," She said. "Thanks for everything Alex, I'll see ya soon."

"You're welcome Sara, just take it easy, okay?" I replied.

"I can handle myself Alex, did you forget who used to beat you up when we were younger?" She asked, giving me her infamous smile.

I laughed. "Do you remember who had more strength then you in the arena, after we stopped I had to help you up."

"You might be able to recover faster, but I will beat you tonight." She smirked.

"We'll see." I winked.

We both laughed as we walked away from each other. I already missed her. I know it is stupid, but I hadn't seen her in so long, I just want her all to myself. I took a walk to clear my head, unconsciously I walked to the place where I found her father dead. I was the one who found him dead, I was less then a year old, when I walked over here by the plum tree, trying to find something sweet to eat. No one knew how he died, he had a single slash across his neck, his blood mixing with the plums he had already collected. I dragged his body over to the others, hoping he was just asleep and the others could wake him up. Tears currently filled my eyes, I was about to wipe them away when I remembered what he once said, "Tears are a sign of strength, a sign that one has been dealing with much, and now they must let it out before they can move on. Tears, my child, mean that you are strong, shameless, and that you're ready to move on." When I asked him how tears mean that I'm ready to move on, he replied rather simply, "It means you can let out your burden with tears, you do not have to carry it any longer." Because of his words, I let my tears fall, I let them stain the earth.

I felt a paw on my shoulder, then a soft voice spoke. "Alex, he is gone, no sense worrying about him, he would be proud of you right now." It was my mother.

My voice quivered, on the verge of sobbing. "I am not worrying about him, I am honoring him. He told me to let me tears show, I am, in his name."

My mother hugged me gently. "Sh, it's okay, today you must fight."

Suddenly an idea came to me. "What was his name?"

My mother, taken back, replied. "Well, I don't quite remember, let's see...I believe it was Samuel."

"Samuel" I whispered, the louder. "I know what I must do today, do I have your blessing, no matter the outcome of this fight?"

Again, she was taken back. "Why yes, yes of course."

"Good." Then I was off, I knew what I had to do.
