Chapter 2

After all that I've seen, I told Jewel everything. Just like anyone, Jewel didn't believe me. She said, "Crystal, you are just too scared. Calm down. We're fine." Our cave has an upper level, but I haven't explored that or the far side yet. I saw the creature by the makeshift stone stairs both times. Tomorrow night, I'll go explore.

Don't know why I choose night, but I did. Maybe I can get a better look at the thing. Just as I was about to leave, Jewel came running from the other side of the cave. "Crystal! I just saw it! You were right!" Jewel exclaimed. What was the creature doing on the far side of the cave? "Why did you go over there in the first place?" I asked Jewel calmly. "I heard a noise and went to go check it out. That was a bad idea," Jewel replied.

I had my katana, two flashlights, some food, and water."Well, I'll go check. Want to come?" I asked.

Jewel replied, "I'll go. Just be careful." "I'm always careful," I said. "Sure you are," Jewel replied. When we reached the spot where Jewel saw the creature, nothing was there except stone stairs going up. "Should we go up?" Jewel asked. "I want to find out more about this creature," I said as I walked slowly up the stairs. "Wait for me!" Jewel exclaimed.

"Jewel, quiet down," I whispered. "Sorry," Jewel replied.
