💉 Markhyuck 💉

It was dark, and it was cold. The rain beat down on him without forgiveness and it made it hard to see where the sidewalk was taking him. The faster he ran, the heavier his breath became, until he was a panting drenched mess. All he wanted was freedom. Freedom from the growling, aching, stinging, clawing beast that tore at his heart every waking minute that he thought of that boy.

He wanted to feed.

yet every time he went out like this, the same thing happened.

And tonight would be no different.

He came to a halt at the bus stop, keeping himself a pace away from the coverage provided by the small awning over the bench on the sidewalk. And there the boy stood, his light brown hair fluffy and soft, a red and white flannel falling off his shoulders a bit and a black t-shirt with the logo of some alt band tucked into dark jeans made the outfit all come together. His eyes were so big and so dark and so very beautiful, yet amidst their beauty, all that the latter could make out was the horrid, torn reflection of a monster.

That boy at the bus stop was not cold or drenched from the pouring rain, and he sat under the bluish glow of a streetlamp, remaining safely in the light until his brother would inevitably arrive later that evening to take him home.

Everything about this boy was so different from the monster that stood just out of safety's reach, and yet, the soft boy did not seem to mind this.

Carefully, with a sigh, he took in the hunched posture and the crazed look of the man, and he took off his flannel, walking with a measured step towards the threshold where the rain was stopped by the shelter of the bus stop. He offered out the clothing with a goofy smile.

"Come on Mark, you'll catch a cold."

Mark did not say a word as he obeyed the younger, taking hold of the soft material and staring at it with watery eyes. He was interrupted from whatever new destructive thoughts were attempting to cloud his mind by a soft warm hand grabbing his own, pulling him gently to the bench where he was no longer in the rain.

They sat together side by side, watching the rain pour onto the streets and the cars and pitter-patter off the rooves of the homes in the neighborhood. They watched the sky bleak white with streaks of lightning and listened to the rolling thunder that crumbled through the air shortly after.

All the while, the shorter, softer, warmer boy kept a steady flow of conversation between them. It was comfortable, and it was safe. He didn't feel cold anymore, he didn't feel hunger. He just felt a longing for this moment to last forever.

You can't suppress a beast forever.

"Haechan."

Although it was the youngers name that was called, they both turned their heads to see who it was. Haechan stood when the tall, looming figure of his brother came into view.

"Johnny, what took you so long?" Haechan asked with a whine, running to his older brother who held an umbrella over his head. He smiled when he embraced his younger brother, but then his gaze carefully rose to Mark, watching the younger from where he stood. He squinted a bit, studying the boy as if considering him for something.

"You should come with us too then, yeah? I take it you wouldn't be caught dead going home like- this." He gestured to the boy's drenched appearance with his free hand and Mark looked down at himself as if only now realizing the state he was in. He nodded quickly.

"Yeah..."
