Hi hi!! If you actively read my stories and/or my announcements, you know I have about 4 drafts cooking. This is one of them!! If it weren't obvious by the title, this is loosely inspired by the MTV show catfish! I love that show much and have had this idea for a very long time. I was debating on whether or not to make this an applyfic, but finally decided to since I'm needing some side characters.

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING:

1. Updates will be slow. I update as the chapters are finished and ready to be posted, so depending on the time I have to write is how fast I update. That being said, I do have a life outside of WP, plus I have lots of other stories to work on. I am not online every single day, but I do make announcements if updates for my stories are delayed/posted.

2. As said before, this is loosely based off of the MTV show Catfish. It's not going to have the show, it's not going to have Nev, Max, Kamie, or anything like that. I just simply took the plot and did the most cliche basic thing with it lol. 

3. You need to be willing to do character thoughts on all characters! Whether you make 1 OC or more, I expected each OC's thoughts on all characters - both main and side, unless stated otherwise. I spend way too much time trying to perfect your guys' characters the way you'd like them to be written, and I try to include every character to the best of my abilities. This makes it much easier for me to include them into the plot, and add them into the story line. Your character will be removed if you don't do it, and I will only ask 2 times before doing so. Usually, I have a due date for the thoughts - HOWEVER, with how busy my life has been, I am not doing that as of right now. Please don't take advantage of that.

* I am very understanding when it comes to things happening. If something comes up in your personal life and you cannot do the thoughts for an extended period of time, message me! I will completely understand, especially since there's no specific due date. All I ask is to be known things will be delayed! 

5. There will be triggering topics. As of right now I don't have a specified list, and I'll try to make it as specified as I can in the trigger warning at the beginning of the story. It all depends on the things I add to my plot/characters, and what other creators put for their characters.

6. You can apply as many times as you like. BE AWARE, however, I'm not choosing very many OC's for this story. So if you apply with multiple that is a-okay, I might use some for side characters, but don't expect every character to be accepted and every character to be included completely. This is going to be a very online style book, meaning a lot of the chapters will take place over text/online.

Now, these are NOT the rules! It's a lot just to find out that it's not even part of the requirements, I know, but I've started putting these little disclaimers at the top of every applyfic I come out with because I have realized that way too many people don't expect certain things from me, then grow uninterested. I would just like to put these before to save both you and me the trouble of having someone apply then change their mind.

QUICK SUMMARY: 

Mackenzie Staats had always lived a normal life. She'd had friends and family, and a job she enjoyed. Eventually, she meets someone online. This someone is a person she'd never met, a someone she keeps a secret from just about everyone.

However, this person has been keeping a huge secret from her as well, one that could potentially ruin whatever has grown between them.

RULES AND REQUIREMENTS:

1. FOLLOW. Must be following me and stay a follower!

2. DETAILS AND DIVERSITY! I want your OC's as detailed as possible! I connect to the characters way more whne there are extra details, and it makes them easier to include in the story! I also would like very diverse characters included as well. PLEASE BE AWARE of who has applied. If you see only females, apply with a non-binary or make. If you see only straight white females, make it different. POC too! I want DIFFERENT characters. I don't need 30 fashionista popular girls. I don't need 30 longers that don't talk to anyone. If you see a personality type that hasn't been applied with yet, then apply with that personality! I cannot stress this enough! ALSO; I will be needing friends for both Mackenzie and Henry, so keep that in mind!

3. QUICKNESS/RESERVES. This is not first come first serve! I don't reserve for anyone when it comes to love interests, friendships, enemies, siblings, etc. So please don't rush to get the application out! I will leave this up for as long as I need, so don't just put a few words and call it good. You cannot be detailed by rushing one out, I promise you have just as much of a chance to be a main character applying late as you would applying first.

4. SHOUT OUT. Post a message to your messageboard shouting this story out! I want this to reach others who might be interested in applying or reading it!

5. GHOST READERS. Please please please be active! I cannot stress this enough. Vote EVERY chapter, comment when you can, etc. I don't expect a comment on every paragraph. Votes and comments help motivate me, as it helps me know what you think of your character and the story. I just like to know that you're seeing the work I put into your character and overall - the story - and that you like and appreciate it!

6. COMMUNICATION. This is new, but it's simply because Wattpad doesn't have DM's anymore. I need you guys to have one of the socials below, simply so I can easily message you privately about your character if needed. I constantly find myself needing to ask questions or ask if certain things are okay, and I don't like doing them publicly in case it involves a plot twist. Therefore, you need to have one of the socials below to be accepted!

TIP: I only care what you put down as your answers if I specifically ask/request certain things! Other than that, put as much as you possible can and whatever you'd like. This is YOUR character that I'm bringing to life. The only thing I really ask is you don't make a carbon copy of other characters.

FORM:

- Full Name: First, middle, last. If they don't have a middle name then leave it blank, or if they have more than one please make sure to put it down! If there is nothing stated in the form, I'll assume they don't have one.

- Nicknames: All nicknames and who calls them that, including their preferred name.

- Age, birthday: 18-21. College-aged, as she will be attending college.

- Gender, sexuality

- Family: Name, age, alive/deceased

- Background: What's their family like? Their childhood? What was it like for them in high school?

- Personality Traits: Can be listed as a list or in sentences. The more details, the better. *If you're listing it, please put more than just a few. It doesn't need to be detailed but I need a good enough to get an idea of their character*

- Likes: 5+

- Dislikes: 5+ 

- Fears: 3+

- Face Claim: At LEAST 3 to work with, but the more the merrier just in the off chance I have used all three. Please put in order from the one you want the most ot the one you'd prefer the least.

- Would you like a love interest? (If applicable): Yes or no

- Mixtape: 3+ songs that fit your character! I use them for my moodboards!! 

- Pinterest/Aesthetic: Put your Pinterest so I can add you as a collaborator on the board for said character, or if you don't have one please put multiple aesthetic ideas so I can make it!

- Extra: Anything at all you'd like to add about your character that will help me make them come to life.

MACKENZIE

- Full Name: Mackenzie Jane Staats

- Nicknames: Mack - by Henry, Kenz/Kenzie - by her friends, MJ - by her best friend.

- Age, birthday: 20, October 27th

- Gender, sexuality: Female, unlabeled

- Family: Denise Staats, mother, alive. Gordon Staats, father, alive.

- Background: Her mother are father are considered lower-class. She was born to Denise and Gordon Staats, being the only child. They barely got by, scraping paycheck by paycheck to take care of Mackenzie. She was still grateful, though, and loves her parents more than anything. She's been working as a waitress since she was 16, when she was old enough to get a job. This was enough for her to get her own car and help her parents, who were both working two jobs each. She got accepted into community college after high school, and she's currently in between her second and third year. She attends in-class colleges, working at the restaurant at night. 

- Personality Traits: She's very affectionate. She's trustworthy and brave, strong and sometimes resilient. She's very naive, and easily gives into false apologies. She tries her best to see the best in everyone, despite how cruel the world has been to her. She thinks there's a little bit of good in everyone, and tries to see the silver lining in everything. She's quirky, constantly making stupid jokes. She fidgets a lot, specifically when she's nervous or anxious. She sometimes has a stutter, but it's mostly noticeable when she's upset about something. She's extremely talented but lacks the confidence, which can put a huge damper on her abilities. She's very big on communication and honestly.
