"WHAT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE'S BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT!" JARED YELLS. They had been sitting at the table eating lunch when Sam had gotten a phone call from Billy about Paul and Jared's imprint being in a motorcycle accident with her sister and she's lucky Jacob had been there or something bad could've happened. Sam had informed them – Jared was pissed and upset while Paul pretended that he didn't care, but you could clearly see on his face that he was angered and frustrated. They'd felt frustrated and angry at the girl, why would she a small delicate little thing, climb onto a dangerous motorcycle.

"Where is she!" The Beta of the pack demands his Alpha, who puts his imprint behind his back.

"She's at Billy's house. Now, before you go over there, calm down." Sam orders, "Charlie's already there...we can't have people knowing that we're wolves over your anger."

"I am calm!" Jared exclaims as he ran out the door ignoring the man's calls. He had phased as soon as he was in the tree line, the closer he got to the small house; the stronger the feeling of the pull was, he was suddenly hit with pain and anxiety – something that came off of his imprint. He could hear the pack catching up with him, but could not hear their voices as he was too focused on the small girl. He trampled over to a tree and phased back behind a tree, was hit with a pair of cutoffs and a t-shirt that Embry threw to him. He slipped them on and rushed over to door.

He glanced at Paul who didn't have any emotion on his face, but Sam took the lead and knocked on the door. The door opened to reveal a very solemn Harry Clearwater who let them in, the first thing they saw was Sue bandaging her head and one of her wrists, and Bella Swan sitting on the couch with a blank expression with Charlie Swan who was pacing looking worried and angry. "She's sprained her wrist, but I'm not sure if she has a concussion. I'd check on her when she wakes up, monitor her for a while."

Charlie stares at the woman relieved, "thank you, Sue." He stares at his little sunshine with sadness, he was supposed to take care of her and look after her, and now look what had happened when his back was tired. He couldn't help, but compare himself to Renee. His anger flared once again and turns his head to Bella who was seated next to an anxious looking Jacob.

"Bella, what the hell were you thinking! Your sister is too small, too fragile to be on that death machine! So are you!" He scolds the girl who was staring blankly at the floor – her eyes did at some point flicker to her sister, but with anger, she was getting all the attention when her head was actually the one bleeding. "Where did you even get a bike from anyways?"

Jacob didn't once speak up, he was too busy looking at Elizabeth to even help Bella in this. He watched her force the small Swan onto the bike and didn't even help out, he felt like he failed at being her friend.

"It was an accident." Bella mumbles, "total misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding? An accident? You've been making quite a lot of them since that Cullen boy broke up with you, I've tried to give you some time, Bella, but it's obviously not working; poor Elizabeth is getting the brunt of your mess!" Charlie fumes, this wasn't the Bella he used to know. No, this was the Bella that Renee raised and he wasn't surprised, she was turning out like her own mother.

"She was sent here to help me and be there for me, she was just being a good sister." Bella shrugs.

The wolves didn't know what that meant, but they saw Billy and Charlie's identical looks of anger. They couldn't help but feel pissed at the girl themselves, she was using her sister and didn't care if she was hurt in what she was doing. Though, Jared and Paul felt slightly relieved that Elizabeth didn't decide to go on, but was angered at the thought of her big sister forcing and pressuring her onto it, weren't older siblings supposed to protect the younger?

"You and I are having a talk when we get home, your behaviour is appalling and I won't tolerate it no longer." Charlie states, he sits down and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Do you think she'll wake up?" He just wanted to take her home.

"Sue said she'll be fine, Charlie." Harry answered him, he looked back to the pack and noticed how they were all standing next to each other tensely. An imprint had been hurt on their land and none of them had noticed, "perhaps we should keep her here for the night, keep an eye on her for a bit and you could come pick her up once your finished with work?"

"I don't know." Charlie trails, he was very protective of his youngest. But he nods his head anyways, he knew she would wake up after an argument with Bella.

"We'll get her to call you when she feels better." Billy suggested as he sent a wink to Jared who kept a blank look upon his face.

"Thank you," Charlie stands up and glances at Bella sternly. "We best get home, thanks again, Billy. Come, Isabella."

Both Swan's left the house, missing the glares the pack had sent Bella as they left. Jacob was sent to his room, and now the pack had seats that they could sit in. Soft, quiet chatter filled the air between the two elders and the pack, they kept on staring at the girl who was breathing quietly, but made no sound of movement. The front door creaked open and in walked Sue who had brought Emily over, Harry got up and lightly coughed to his wife who gave everyone a farewell after looking over the small girl once more.

Everyone stays seated for a few hours with light chatter before they left. Vowing, they'd be back in the morning to see if her health had improved.

The next day came swiftly, Sam, Emily and Jared were seated around at the dining table. Paul, however, was patrolling with Embry, he didn't want to be around. Jared had yelled at him before coming back to Billy's, but he wasn't going to waste anymore time as Sam and Emily dragged him. He'd watched Jacob go to school with Quil, but Billy welcomed them in, and they again saw the girl in the same position with a small blanket over her.

"I'll go ahead and make breakfast, you boys keep an eye on the girl, okay?" Emily says softly before making her way over to the small kitchen grabbing everything she needed.

The home was silent for awhile before they heard shifting, everyone's heads snapped to the couch to see the blonde girl coming around. Jared had to dig himself into the wooden chair – otherwise he'd be storming over there to comfort her.

"How are you feeling, Tala?" Billy's voice was soft, Jared watched her smile at him.

"I'm a-alright, headache." She mutters, she rolls herself into a small ball. The wolf behind her just wanted to take her into his arms

"You are very lucky," he sighs. "What made you think it would be okay to hop on a death machine like that?"

"B-Bella asked," she frowns. "I had to be a good sister.." she trails off, Jared growls quietly. What made her think almost dying would imply being a good sister? "I'm sorry I worried you."

"Don't be. Just don't do that again, everyone was worried sick." The Beta could see the elders dark expression at the mention of what happened yesterday.

He watched Elizabeth sit up steadily with the help of Billy, she moved some hair out of her face with her non-injured hand, he watches as she stares down at her wrapped hand and sighs. He could see that she was blaming herself – he could feel it.

Emily goes over to her and hands her a fresh glass of water, "thank you."

"You're welcome, sweetheart. Glad you're up." His Alpha's imprint hands her painkillers, "take those, you will feel better." She placed a soft hand upon her thigh.

Jared could feel how Elizabeth felt, she recognised Emily as a mother. He could just see the look in her blue eyes; how she looks up to his Alpha's imprint. He looked towards Sam who stares at him in wonder, he sent him a small nod and notices she smiles shyly, "I'm Elizabeth."

"I've heard nothing but good comments about you, my name is Emily." The Native woman stares softly, her eyes show nothing but kindness. "You must be hungry, I've just made breakfast."

She moves away to go grab an extra plate, Elizabeth's nose scrunched up, 'how adorable.' Jared thought, but could see her eyes cloud with confusion, Billy must have noticed the confusion and chuckles, "you've slept a whole day."

Her eyes widen, "oh goodness." She nervously picked at the hem of the jumper she wore. "Is Bella okay?"

"She's fine, just a bump to the head. You got the brunt of it." Jared's eyes darken as he heard her ask about Bella, why was she asking about the leech-lover? Doesn't she not see she could have died? She was so selfless, and one day that's going to get her in trouble, he clenched his fists and holds back a growl.

"I'm sorry," she looks down ashamed, the wolf's eyes soften. "I didn't mean to cause so much trouble for everyone."

Billy's eyes soften, his eyes connected with the Alpha who had heard everything. Emily frowns when she heard her words, she turns towards Jared who's eyes were hardening at each thing she said. "Tala, nobody is mad at you. You've done no wrong, you were forced into something you didn't want to do."

Her blue teary eyes met with his darker ones, Jared knew that Billy knew something and wasn't telling him. He knew she was also being secretive about something concerning, but knew she didn't want to get in trouble, "I-I wasn't forced, I was being a good sister."

Billy held a knowing look within his knowledgeable eyes. "Elizabeth." He watches her glance at the elder with wide eyes, "did your mother say you had to be a good sister?"

Elizabeth did not answer, she stares down at her lap, biting her lip gently. Jared then knew, he could sense it, he stares at Sam. Could it be that Elizabeth, his imprint has been going through what Paul also went through; abuse and neglect?

"What nonsense has she filled your head with?" Billy states, but Emily came back down to her with a plate filled with sausages, bacon, eggs and beans. "Elizabeth, remember you're not alone. If you ever need to talk come to me."

"Okay." She whispers quietly. Billy was soon given a plate and everyone began eating in silence, Jared watches as she glances from him to Sam in the corner of her eyes, she looked anxious. Billy clears his throat to start a conversation within the tense air, "Tala, this is Sam Uley and Jared Cameron, you've already met Emily Young." Elizabeth lifts her head slightly and smiles, "– everyone this is Elizabeth Swan."

"N-Nice to meet you." She stuttered timidly, he couldn't help but think that she looked so small sitting there.

"It's a pleasure." Sam says as he holds Emily's hand, while his scarred imprint gave her a wave.

Her eyes train on him. Jared felt nervous, he received a nudge from Sam and clears his throat, "it's nice to meet you, Elizabeth." His wolf almost preened when she gave him a smile before playing with her fingers.

His wolf wanted him to go over there, take care of her, but he had to remind him that she did not know them yet. "Tala, I almost forgot to tell you, I promised Charlie you'd call once you were better." Her face morphed into realisation and looks at the elder with her adorable smile.

"Thanks, Uncle Billy." She replies and goes over to the phone that's hanging from the wall, he could hear Charlie pick up.

He was happy to hear that her dad was relieved at her for being physically okay again, what made him growl was when he heard her soft voice stand up for Bella, and say that she was being helpful and a good sister – once again.

Somebody, her mother as Billy said, had filled her head with nonsense, his emotions were everywhere. In the corner of his eyes, he could see Sam shift from foot – to – foot. Emily, however looked sad, he knew what she was thinking because he was too; how could anyone do that to their own child.

Once, she rang up the phone, and walked back over to the couch. She played with her fingers and looked down at her legs as the people she'd just met eye her, she felt nervous. Jared looked at Sam who eyes the small girl over, he looks towards Jared and offers him a look towards Emily who was holding up an old puzzle box. She kept motioning to Jared to take it and interact with his imprint as she and Sam went into a different room to discuss something with Billy. They knew he'd be able to listen to what they're talking about, but he shrugged it off and noticed the small girl staring at her bandaged wrist.

"Hey." He says softly as he sat on the single couch across from her. She looks up and stares at him warily, but gave him a slight smile.

"Hi." She whispers looking down shyly again, Jared smiles and sets the puzzle down on his lap.

He nervously scratched the back of his head, "would you like to help me do this puzzle? My friend, Emily said she couldn't finish it." He lies, he watches her look up at him and then to the box that he suddenly holds up.

She nods and moves to sit on her knees down by the coffee table, Jared smiles and follows her. Both of them were now across from each other, he sets the puzzle box down and pulls all the pieces out. He began to flip them over and could feel himself smile as her small hands reached out to help, his eyes glance over her slightly and notices she shyly but her lip and avoided eye contact with him.

Jared looks at the boxes picture and noticed it was an enchanted forest with a small cottage in the centre of it, lit up with the night sky. He looks back up at Elizabeth and noticed her connecting three pieces together which he nodded and began to do as well.

The silence between the two of them was so loud, both of them were awkward and nervous; one who shy and the other who didn't really know what to say. Jared however ends up clearing his throat, grabbing her attention. "I'm Jared."

"E–Elizabeth," she says holding out her hand to him. His huge, warm – masculine hand enveloped her tiny cold one.

"So, uh, do you have anything you like to do?" He asks as he connected his pieces to hers.

"I like to stargaze, um, and read..." she trails off blushing after she met his eye yet again.

"Cool, I like stargazing too." Her eyes seem to brighten at him saying that. He always got the best view up on the mountain, it was just so much better watching it higher up. "But I would have to go with cliff diving, now that's the best thing ever!"

"You sound very....outgoing." She muttered quietly as the puzzle slowly started coming together, she glanced up meeting his eyes before going for another piece of the jigsaw.

"I'm a nature lover," he tells her. "Everything to do with the outdoors are my life, nature can be very reliving to some and to others it can be beautiful."

"I like...nature....makes me feel calm." She mumbles trying to find the right way to put it. "I like feeding the ducks and saving frog spawn from birds and other animals....I like putting them into ponds. Make them safer, y'know?"

Jared nods, he was very happy feeling like he was getting somewhere with her. She was quiet and mumbled a lot, but he didn't care, he just wanted her to feel comfortable around him. He grins when he noticed that the puzzle was completely finished when he placed the last one in the missing space, "hey, look we're done."

She catches his eyes for the hundredth time and smiled shyly up at him, her cheeks flushed when they held eye contact, but that all soon stopped when Billy wheeled into the living room with the man and the woman who still gave her a kind gesture. She missed the sympathetic and angry looks on both of their faces, but Jared didn't. He had blocked everything out when he was with Elizabeth, what did Sam and Emily know that he didn't.

"Tala, Charlie will be coming by soon. So will Sue who's just going to check you out, how about we just sit and relax for a little while and wait for them, hm?" He suggested causing her to nod suddenly slipping back into her shy and awkward demeanour, not noticing the looks the boy in front of her was giving the tall man.

After clearing everything away, everyone had sat around the living room and began to watch Dancing with Wolves a movie that was already playing when they switched the television on. Jared sat on the single seat, Emily and Sam sat on the family couch while Elizabeth sat on the other side of Emily but was close to the edge to be next to Billy who sat on his wheelchair. The room was quiet as they were waiting on Sue to come and check her out before she went back home, again the blue eyed girl missed the looks she got from the Quileute's in the room as her focus was on the movie.

The knocking on the door caught everyone's attention as Emily went up to open it. Once the door opened everyone saw Sue smiling at her niece, "sorry I'm late something had come up." She said as she walked into the house and smiled at the small girl who had shrunken into the couch, "it's good to see you awake, sweetie." The woman said as she bent down in front of the girl, "let's check out your head, yeah?"

Sue began to unwrap the bandages much to Elizabeth's discomfort, and gave her an encouraging smile while wiping the blood away with a medical wipe. She gave a content hum and then moved onto the girls wrist, she took of the bandage and checked out Elizabeth's reflexes and gave a nod when she watched the smaller girl flinch. "Okay, your head is fine and I do advise you to take some aspirin. As for your wrist stay off of it for a few days, but try and sort of use it for small things." She tells the girl sternly as she rewraps it up in a new bandage with a smile, "it's just sprained nothing major."

"Thank you." Her soft voice mumbled throughout the silence of the room, she met Sue's smile with her own small one.

"You're welcome, sweetheart." The woman said giving her a gentle squeeze to her knee before turning to Jared who sat intently watching the whole ordeal, "she's fine. She's a strong girl."

Jared only nods and keeps his eye on his petite imprint who had slightly turned her attention back to the movie. Jared's head snapped up slightly hearing another engine pulling up into the driveway, he turns to Sam who was already stating Charlie was here to Sue and Billy.

Another knock was heard at the door and Elizabeth seemed to know that it was Charlie, her face brightened when Sue had opened the door and was telling Charlie that she was fine and that she just needs to stay off of her wrist for a couple of days before she does anything with it.

The wolf watched the girl hug Billy goodbye before taking her dad's hand. "Thanks again, Uncle Billy." She mumbles as he tips his hat to her making her leg out small giggles making Jared's heart sore.

"No problem," he says. "Remember, you can come back here anytime you want." He said causing her to nod and then turn to Jared with a small smile before leaving with a last wave to everyone who said their goodbyes.

Jared was already smitten and he hadn't even known her for a day, he felt Sam pat his shoulder looking all smug. "C'mon, lover boy. Let's head back, you'll see her again soon."

"Alright, I'm coming." He states before Billy's head grabbed his wrist. He turns around and raises an eyebrow in confusion, "Billy?"

"Promise me that you'll take good care of her." He said, the wolf could see something dark – protective in his eyes that he didn't know what it meant.

"Of course I will," he said with a promising tone. "I won't let anything bad happen to her, I promise."

"Thank you," and with that the two wolves and the Alpha's imprint left the Black household and into Sam's truck.
