Chapter 6

The next couple of days were tense and restless for everyone involved. Y/N arrived in Houston hours ahead of schedule, using the time to keep himself occupied and avoid thinking too much about the situation with Becky. He stayed mostly to himself, exploring the city during the day and working out in the hotel gym at night, all the while ignoring the texts and calls from his friends. The guilt and confusion weighed heavily on him, and he didn't know how to face anyone, especially Becky.

Meanwhile, the others arrived in Houston the following day, with Becky and Cathy both feeling uneasy about the confrontation that was bound to happen. Seth, who had been growing more concerned about Y/N, tried to gather everyone in his hotel room to figure out a plan. The tension was palpable as they all assembled, exchanging worried glances as they wondered what to do next.

Seth: "Alright, we've got to talk about this. Y/N’s been dodging my calls, and I don't like it. We need to find him and figure out what's going on."

Cathy: "I think he just needs some space, Seth. You know how he gets when he's upset. But you're right—we can't leave things like this."

Becky, looking down at her hands: "It's my fault he's acting like this. I didn't realize how much I hurt him until it was too late. I need to talk to him, but I don't know if he'll listen."

Seth sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, running away isn’t going to solve anything. We need to get him to sit down and talk this out. Becky, you're the only one who can really fix this. But we’ve got to find him first."

Just then, Drew, who had been silent until now, spoke up. "I think I know where he might be. I saw him leaving the gym late last night—he didn’t see me, but he looked like he had a lot on his mind. He’s probably sticking to places where he can be alone."

Becky nodded, determination starting to replace the fear that had been building up inside her. "Okay, I'll go find him. I need to make this right."

Later that evening, Becky decided to head to the hotel gym, where she hoped to catch Y/N alone. As she entered, the familiar scent of sweat and rubber hit her, and the dull hum of machines filled the air. It didn’t take long for her to spot him in the far corner, throwing punches at a heavy bag with a fierce intensity that made her heart ache.

She approached him slowly, her footsteps almost silent on the rubber flooring. Y/N didn't seem to notice her at first, too focused on his workout. Finally, after a few moments, Becky cleared her throat.

Becky: "Y/N?"

Y/N paused mid-punch, his body stiffening as he recognized her voice. He didn’t turn around immediately, his hands still gripping the bag tightly. When he finally did look at her, his expression was guarded, his eyes a mix of hurt and frustration.

Y/N: "What do you want, Becky?"

Becky: "I want to talk. Please."

Y/N sighed, letting go of the bag and stepping back, wiping the sweat from his brow with the back of his hand. He looked exhausted, not just physically but emotionally too.

Y/N: "I don’t know if there’s much to talk about."

Becky: "There is. I know I hurt you, and I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize how serious you were…about us. About me. And I laughed when I shouldn’t have. That was wrong."

Y/N crossed his arms over his chest, looking away as if trying to keep his emotions in check. "It’s not just that, Becky. It’s everything. I’ve been holding onto these feelings for a while now, and I guess I just hoped… I don’t know. I thought maybe you felt the same."

Becky stepped closer, her voice softening. "I didn’t know what I felt, not until I saw that video. I’ve been thinking about it a lot, Y/N. And about you. I was so focused on not ruining our friendship that I didn’t see what was right in front of me. You mean a lot to me, Y/N. More than I realized."

Y/N finally met her gaze, searching her eyes for any sign of insincerity. He saw only honesty and regret in her expression, and some of the tension in his shoulders eased.

Y/N: "So, what now? Do we just pretend like nothing happened?"

Becky shook her head. "No, we can’t do that. I don’t want to. I want to talk things out, figure out where we stand. I don’t want to lose you, Y/N, not as a friend…and maybe not as something more."

Y/N's heart skipped a beat at her words, but he remained cautious. "You’re not just saying that because you feel guilty, are you?"

Becky smiled slightly, a sad but hopeful smile. "No, I’m not. I wouldn’t do that to you. Let’s take this one step at a time, okay? We don’t have to figure everything out right now, but we can’t keep avoiding it either."

Y/N let out a long breath, some of the weight lifting off his chest. He nodded, feeling a flicker of hope where there had only been darkness. "Okay. We’ll talk, but no more running away."

Becky nodded in agreement, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. They had a long road ahead of them, but at least now, they were willing to walk it together. As they left the gym, side by side, there was a renewed sense of possibility between them—one that they both hoped would lead to something more than just friendship.
