Chapter Nineteen
✏️ Nathan
"You're a fucking animal" Caleb laughed, shaking off his still damp hair as he exited the bathroom.
I didn't realize how much better my cardiovascular health was than Caleb's until I outran him by a mile. I tried slowing down at one point but it was just too funny staying ahead.
"All that muscle but you clearly skip cardio" I smile shaking my head.
I had beat him back to the hotel and managed to quickly shower by the time he got back. Okay, I know I'm a jerk and I won't do that every time... if he ever decides to do that with me again.
Oh, how I wished he did that with me again.
Although, there was other types of cardio we could do together which was even more fun...
I shook those thoughts out of my head again as I focused back in on what I was doing.
Seeing as we've been eating out or ordering in every meal since we got here, I thought it'd be fun to make us breakfast.
While Caleb was in the shower, I was able to scoot across the street at a convenience store I spotted on our run and was able to grab some eggs, toast, a couple of bananas and two small ginger shots. It's not much but I knew he'd love the thought.
"What's all this?!" He exclaimed, looking at our mini breakfast and sitting down at the kitchenette island. Seriously, this hotel had it all.
I leaned across the counter, looking at him straight ahead while our breakfasts sat in between us.
"I wanted to make us breakfast this morning." I shrugged. "Here, try this." I said sliding him the ginger shot.
He gave me a confused look but I didn't miss the glimmer in his eyes or his quirked up smile as he lifted the shot to his nose and sniffed.
"Woah, that's intense." He laughed.
"Oh yeah." I laughed too, cracking mine open.
"So, I give you a few orgasms and all of a sudden you're making me breakfast?" He tilted the drink to his lips. I couldn't help but stare.
"Four if you count the one you gave me by accident after you tickled me on the floor" I muttered.
Calebs eyes widened and he immediately started coughing his ginger shot up as it struggled to find its way back down his throat. "What?!" He coughed, sputtering away.
I laughed before taking a big swig of my shot. Taking it down, easily.
I shook my head and nodded to his plate. "Hurry, before it gets cold." I smiled.
He darted his tongue out, licking the corner of his mouth slowly before picking up his fork and beginning.
My eyes drifted over his body as he sat there topless in nothing but black shorts that snugged tightly around his thighs. His chest still glistened from spots he forgot to try with his towel. I wanted to run my lips across his collarbone and bite but I had to wait.
Eat first. Then play.
I could get use to this.
"You're telling me to eat but your just standing there staring at me." Caleb laughed, taking a bite of his toast.
He's got me there.
"Fuck." I smiled, picking up my fork and digging into my eggs.
We finished up our breakfasts talking about the latest show we had been binge watching, Game of Thrones - of course- and talking about our favourite characters.
"So, you were saying last night..." I coughed slightly, clearing my throat. Calebs eyebrow quirked up. "That you wanted the day with me to hangout..." I picked up both of our plates and moved them into the little kitchenette sink.
"Yeah..." Caleb smiled, leaning back in his seat. His abs looked phenomenal. It's weird, I never thought I'd notice those things about a guy before but when I stop and think about it - I had always noticed it when it came to Caleb. He always stood out to me as something different...special. Untouchable.
"I was thinking we could do what we use to do in highschool. You know...before..."
Caleb rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I know. Before I fucked everything up." He shifted in his seat. Obviously, I was making him uncomfortable.
I walked around the kitchen aisle, grabbed his laptop case that was sitting on the kitchen counter and headed for the bedroom.
"Come on, horror movie time." I nodded towards the bed. Calebs eyes lit up at my words and happily jumped off his seat to follow my lead.
For some reason, it feels nice that he obviously enjoys doing what I say. For a guy that loves to take care of me, he sure loves to be taken care of. Maybe no one has ever really tried.
We walked into the bedroom and seated ourselves on the bed, legs sprawled out in front of us. For two over 6" foot men, this bed was thankfully big enough to master us both.
It'll be hard to leave it tomorrow morning. Hard to leave...this.
"I can't believe you're talking me into this. You know how much horror movies get to me." Caleb laughed, making himself comfortable in bed.
"Remember when we watched The Conjuring in my basement that one halloween?" I laughed. "You couldn't sleep for a week."
"Oh, I love how funny you think that is. Screw you." He leaned back to rest on the pillows behind us, resting on the headboard. I followed suit.
Thankfully, it was pretty low lit in the room due to us not opening the curtains fully this morning.
We sat beside each other close as I loaded up The Conjuring on my phone and casted it to the laptop sitting at in the middle of us.
I couldn't help but feel the anticipation sitting between us at the movie got started. It's weird. It's a feeling that has always been there - just intensified.
"I hate you so much right now." Caleb groaned, running his hands through his hair.
"You big baby. How did you ever get girls?" I shook my head laughing.
Actually, it's very very obvious how he got girls. My heart was becoming very clear of that.
"Nathanial?" Caleb breathed.
I turned my head, to see him staring back at me with worried eyes.
"What's wrong?" I pressed pause on the laptop and turned to face him.
"Why are your parents always working? Where are they?"
My breath hitched. Why was he thinking about that? Why now?
"I-I don't..."
Caleb shook his head. "I shouldn't have brought it up. I was just thinking about the old times that we use to spend together and you were either at my house or no one was home at yours." He fiddled with his fingers in his lap.
My heart was pounding as I thought about how to answer. I know he deserved the truth but I've never really said it before.
"I lied." I blurted.
Caleb looked back at me with a confused expression. I felt a rush of guilt and shame spread over me. I looked away from him.
"There's no way to say this so here it goes..." I breathed in. "I lied. My mom and dad weren't always at work. The truth is...it was just my mom. My dad left when I was four and I guess...I had thought it was easier when I was little to say he was just at work than to say I didn't have a dad at all. My mom has worked and worked so hard all of my life. Multiple jobs to keep a roof over our heads. You know, the whole spiel. I've been working hard once I could to help her out and take care of myself..." I looked down at my own hands playing with a loose thread on the blanket. "I just didn't want people to know...know how alone I really was..." I muttered, barely over a whisper.
A warm touch rested on my cheek, pulling me back up to meet his eyes. I was surprised to see no hint of betrayal or judgement on his face. Instead, his face resembled the feeling of compassion. My heart warmed at the sight.
"You were never alone..." Caleb lifted his hand and rested it around the back of my neck, gripping me tightly. "Not when I was around." He squeezed as if to signify his point deeper.
I closed my eyes and bit my lip, nodding my head. "I know. I never felt alone when you were around." I opened my eyes up to see him staring down at my lips.
"You'll never be alone...I'm so sorry for what I did, Nathanial. I'm so sorry for missing so much time with you." He breathed, his eyebrows pinching together as if the words pained him.
He leaned in and placed his forehead on my own. I realized right then that I've never heard the words 'I'm sorry' come out of Calebs mouth. I didn't realize how much I was holding on to until this very moment.
I was angry with him for such a long time but I think little had to do with Sarah. I was angry that I didn't have him anymore. I lost him all at once and that pissed me off.
Having him here with me...like this, right now... I felt...complete, in a way. Like, I'm back together again. Full.
I rested my hand on his hard chest, feeling his heartbeat echo mine. Hooking my leg over his, I moved in closer.
Our lips were so close, we still weren't kissing. Just softly grazing on one anothers as our hands started wandering over each others bodies.
His hand wrapping around my waist, pulling me in closer. Running it's way up and down my back as I lift my hands to his glorious hair and start running my hands through his strands.
I felt crazed. Now that I've heard those sweet sweet words from his mouth, I couldn't get any closer.
"Caleb," I moaned as his lips kissed and sucked on my neck. Shock waves engulfed my whole body. I wanted more.
"Yes, baby" he panted.
"Do you trust me?" I smiled.
