"How many were in the Venus population," Anima asked me.

"Approximately 3.2 million."

"So it was one of the smaller populations?"

"Yes."

"And every single one of them died?"

"They burst into cosmic energy. They're gone forever, Anima."

"I see... I send them my condolences when I return to Beyond Gone. I'll make sure there's a special place for each population."

"Thank you..."

"...is something else bothering you?"

I nodded.

"My entire population was ended by one Child... I had never heard of him before..."

"Are you talking about Edric, the Dwarf Planet Child?"

"Yes. You know him?"

"I've seen him before. Never really got to know him well. He sort of just came in out of nowhere and left as quick as he came."

"I know, right? It worries me."

"How so?"

"...we won't know the other planets and civilizations he could ruin..."

"Ruining planets? This goes far beyond the death count now."

"He tore the whole place down... even our only connection to the other planets and our lost loved ones... he destroyed every structure, pillar, and home... It's now all just... a planet. I'm not sure life is capable to survive there anymore."

Anima put away her notes.

"I see... I'll keep that in mind when I reboot the civilization... to make it not on the planet... but that will greatly limit the number of Venusans."

"I understand. Thank you, Anima." I got up and left the Child of Saturn.

I already miss my home...
