To Catch An Akuma

~(Y/N)'s POV~

Ah, Pastry Lessons. Something that both me and Hoseki both enjoy. "I'll let you in on a little secret, I always add cream to the chocolate. To make the ganach extra velvety." I was actually taking notes for later, considering that Hoseki would eat anything sweet. "Then I let in infuse for one minute." Alya was talking to Marinette and they both started laughing a little. "Do they seriously think I'm going to get my hands dirty cooking, like some maid?" Chloe asked. "Oh, I don't know Chloe. Maybe one day you won't even have maids to begin with." I said, not even looking back at her. "Um, excuse me?" She said, glaring at me. Everyone started laughing and the lesson continued. Marinette was going to freeze the macaroon batter while the rest of us stayed put. "Psst! (Y/N)!" I looked down at my satchel and quickly excused myself to the bathroom. Once I was there I opened the bag and Hoseki flew out. "What is it? An Akuma?" I questioned urgently. "No. I just have a bad feeling." He said, eyes full of concern. That's when the fire alarm started going off. He flew back into my bag and I went back to the others. We all filed outside before getting lectured. "So, some smart alack had the bright idea of calling the fire department!" The Principle shouted to all the students. Everyone seemed shocked by the news but me and Marinette both shot glares at Chloe. "Somebody thought it would be funny to waste the fire captain's time!" He continued. I walked over to Marinette nudging her slightly. "Five bucks says it was Chloe." I mumbled. She nodded. "Agreed." She said. "I saw her on the phone right before the fire alarm went off." She explained. I growled a little, raising my hand. "(Y/N)! Was it you?" He asked. "No sir, I think it was Chloe. She was spotted on the phone right before the fire alarm went off. And with all due respect, this is something she would definitely do." I hissed. "Ack! I am appalled you think I did it!" Chloe spat at me. I turned to face her. "Oh right you harpy. Keep trying to sound smart. Do you even know what appalled means?" I questioned. That got her to shut up. I stomped over to her, pointing at her with a glare. "I have quite a few choice words for you Bourgeois, but none of them are school appropriate." I hissed quietly to her. "But incase you forgot who I am, let me remind you." I said, holding up the phone with me roasting her. That got her to clamp her mouth down further. "Do you need a repeat of what happened?" I questioned. She slowly began shaking her head. "Yeah. That's what I thought." I growled. I walked back over to my spot. "W-well...Without solid evidence, and since no one is owning up. The whole school will be punished!" The Principle declared. "What? I'm not so sure my father will react kindly to me being punished without proof!" Chloe shouted. "Oh! No! Please don't disturb the busy mayor!" He said, waving his hands around frantically. "The whole school is punished, except for Miss Bourgeois!" He said. I stood there completely still before reaching into my satchel. Hoseki handed me a pen. I broke it in two before storming off to the locker rooms.

After school everyone was sweeping up or cleaning windows. I was cleaning windows in the corner by myself jamming out to some music with my earbuds since I left my headphones at home. I felt one of my earbuds being removed and looked to my side to see Adrien. "Need some help?" He asked. I nodded slightly. "It'd be nice." I said. He started helping me with the windows before sighing. "Hey, you mind if I confide in you a little?" He asked. I nodded slightly. "Go ahead. I've been told I'm a good listener." I said. He stopped for a second, taking a deep breath before continuing. "I just ended my friendship with Chloe. Since she admitted to the whole fire department thing." He said. I gave him a side look. "Let me take a crack at this, you feel guilty right?" I questioned. Adrien nodded a little. "Don't feel guilty. She deserves it. And if anything, she cherishes your friendship. So she might make an effort to change in order to get you back." I said, dipping my cloth in the bucket. "She'd really do that just because I ended our friendship?" He asked. I nodded. "I've dealt with people like Chloe before. Superiority complexes and all that. Point is, people like Chloe, they're toxic. Not good people to be around. So ending your friendship, even if she starts changing just to get you back, it's still an improvement." I explained. "If she becomes less toxic, go ahead and be her friend again. Though if you realize what a harpy she is, I'd recommend staying five feet away from her at all times." I added. Adrien tilted his head to the side a little. "Why are you so mean to Chloe all the time?" He asked. "To give her a taste of her own medicine. And because I was warned ahead of time that she was a mean girl. I've dealt with bullies before Adrien. Many of them. I've had to move and transfer schools a lot. But one in particular reminds me of Chloe a lot. Granted, he was a little worse. Because he actually got violent. He was more on violence rather than manipulation unlike Chloe. But as he got to know our classmates, and realize that some of us were stronger than him, that Diva Complex of his started dying down. He slowly began to except others. And see me, and two other friends of mine as rivals of equal strength. Though that attitude of his never quite vanished. But the differences were noticeable, and they were there. That's what was important." I explained. I chuckled a little. "Ah. Wonder what the hedgehog is doing right now." I muttered to  myself. Adrien smiled a little. "So, that's why? You're being mean to her-." "To make her realize that there are people stronger than her. I'm trying to recreate what happened to the guy I mentioned. Because even if Chloe becomes a bit nicer, it's still an improvement." I said, continuing to clean. "Thanks for the talk...and the advice (Y/N)." Adrien said. I smiled at him. "Anytime. Oh, I guess this is the part where we exchange contact info huh?" I questioned. "If you want." He said. I shrugged a little and we exchanged contact info. School ended quickly and I was walking out the gate when Marinette ran up to me. She asked me if I wanted to hang out at her place for a little and I agreed with a smile.

Now, everyone is getting invites to a party from Chloe? "Chloe and nice in the same sentence? Can't be her." Marinette said, crossing her arms. "Maybe someone hacked her phone then." I shook my head a little. "I haven't received a text from Chloe." Marinette pointed out. "Neither has (Y/N)." Rose agreed. "Well Chloe doesn't have my number to begin with." I pointed out. A few seconds later Marinette got an invite as well. The others were arguing about it for a little until I clapped my hands to silence them all. "Ladies, ladies. Chill for a minute. I think I know what's going on." I said. Everyone looked over at me and I sat down. "At school Adrien ended his friendship with Chloe because she's, well, Chloe. This is probably her trying to show him that she can be nice." I explained. All the girls scoffed in unison. "Of course." They all muttered. I sighed with a shrug. "Welp, I'm going one way or the other. This is a party thrown by Chloe and the ultimate test is if I go." I said, with a shake of my head. I looked over Marinette's shoulder. "Where's this thing at?" I questioned. We all agreed to go, even Marinette, which I was personally surprised at. Then again Adrien was going. The girl's crush on him was so obvious.

~Time Skip~

Once we made it to the party Adrien got jumped by Chloe and I just rolled my eyes. Until she greeted people with the classic kiss on the cheek. Still not used to Parisian formality. Everything froze once she got to Marinette. Though they went through with it. She then spotted me and a look of pure terror was on her face. I held up my hand. "Don't bother. Not going to force you to do something you're clearly uncomfortable with. And keep in mind, I'm not from around here. This formality weirds me out. I'm good." I said. "For once we agree on something (L/N)." Chloe muttered with an eye roll. After that the party started kicking off and was actually kind of fun. Of course I just enjoyed the food, sneaking some into my satchel for Hoseki. I noticed Chloe attempting to be nice but of course failing miserably. I sighed a little with a small smile and shake of my head. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to smile at Adrien. "You were right. She's making an effort but-." "She's still Chloe." I said. He nodded, scratching the back of his neck. That's when I thought I saw something black fluttering around. I turned to see what it was but saw nothing there. My eyes narrowed a little. "Is something wrong?" Adrien asked. I shook my head a little. "Nothing, just a bad feeling." I muttered. That's when the party music was replaced with a slow song. I looked around as people started dancing with eachother. I snickered a little, previous worry forgotten. "Ah, young love. This is what I love about Paris." I said. "Everyone's finding a partner...Care to dance?" Adrien asked. I gave him a look before sweatdropping with a nervous smile. "I'm not the greatest dancer. Try Marinette. I think she might be a little better than me." I said. "Nonsense." He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me out to the dance floor. "I'm sure you're a great dancer." He added, beginning to lead me in the waltz. "The Waltz huh? Son of a famous fashion designer. Why am I not surprised." I said with a shake of my head as we started dancing. I caught Chloe giving me the stink eye and Marinette giving me the 'what the f*ck' face. I just smiled nervously in Marinette's direction mouthing 'I don't know what happened'. As the song continued I just relaxed a little more and Adrien smiled. "See you're great at this." He said, twirling me around. But of course Chloe got a little too p*ssed off and stormed over towards us when her butler came out of nowhere with a...teddy bear? People started laughing and she pulled her butler off to the side. I pulled away from Adrien with a nervous look. "That can't be good." I muttered. After Chloe stormed out of the kitchen I ran in to see the butler looking downcast. "Dude, are you alright?" I asked. He slowly shook his head. "I was only trying to help...Grr...Chloe is such a brat." He hissed with venom. I sighed a little patting his shoulder as he gave me a shocked look. "Give her time to cool down. She was just embarrassed. And yes, Chloe is a brat. But sometimes we just have to live with people like that." I said. He gave me a hate filled look. "And what do you know? You're only a child." He hissed. My eyes softened. "A child that knows a lot more than you think she does." I said. That's when I spotted something black out of the corner of my eye again. I grabbed a nearby jar and a lid, whipping around to see an Akuma. I growled a little as the butler freaked out I jumped up catching the Akuma in the jar with a smirk. "Ha. Gotcha." I growled. He stared at me in shock and I gave him a look. "This never happened. I'm gonna find someplace safe to store this. Maybe if I'm lucky I can hand it over to Ladybug." I growled. He nodded a little, breaking into a cold sweat. "Yes. Right away." He said, leaving the kitchen. I hissed a little as Hoseki popped his head out of the bag. "This hasn't happened before." He said, eyeing the black butterfly in the jar.

We took it up to the roof without being noticed and I sat the jar in front of me. Hoseki flew out of the bag again this time approaching the jar with a nervous sniff. The butterfly immediately flew at the edge of the jar causing the dragon kwami to jump back with a hiss, arching his back like a cat as fire gathered in his mouth. "Calm down." I said, tapping his little head. He sat down, wrapping his tail around himself. "What are you going to do with it?" He asked. "Hoseki Flare On." I said. He gave me a shocked look before being sucked into my choker. I stood up drawing my Katana before kicking over the jar. It shattered and the Akuma flew out. My Katana started glowing as ancient runes started appearing along the blade. I held it up with a glare before slashing at the Akuma. Once the blade made contact with it the black oozed from the butterfly into the sword. Leaving the Akuma white as fresh snow. The blade had turned a dark purplish black and I sheathed it. A pulse of energy came from the sword sheath before finally settling down. The white Akuma flew away and I transformed back. Hoseki gave me a look of shock. "How did you know-." "Remember when I fought Sho that one time?" I asked. "Which one?" He countered while sweatdropping. "That indoor combat training excise duh. Well when I took a slash at him with my Katana white light shone from it and I saw those runes. I took some time to decode them and found out that it was a purification enchantment in Latin. Took some work but hey." I pointed at the butterfly. "Looks like I was right." I said. "That was a risky move (Y/N)." Hoseki hissed at me. I nodded. "I'm aware. But be honest Hoseki. What do I have to lose?" I questioned. That got him to shut up. "Let's get back to the party." I growled.

Once we got back Chloe was still making an effort to be nice, even inviting Marinette's dad for an extra Macaroon lesson. I smiled a little taking up my station and getting down to baking. Hoseki tried to poke his head out of the bag to get a better sniff but I wouldn't let him. Once everyone was finished Chloe was being her and insulting everyone's sweets. Once she insulted mine I just smirked, crossing my arms. "One, don't knock it til you try it. Two, lets see you do better." I said. She just rolled her eyes and walked away. Marinette came up to me and looked at the sweets. "Can I have one?" She asked. I chuckled. "Sure thing Marinette." I said, giving her one. She took a small bite and her eyes widened. "This is really good (Y/N)." She said cheerfully. I smiled. "Thanks. I have a little practice. And your dad has good pointers." I said. I put the Macaroons in a bag after she left and stuffed them in my satchel, giving Hoseki a glare. "Don't you touch them." I growled at him. He just smiled nervously, nodding his head.
