Chapter Seven

                                                                                 |Happy|

It's been three days since the fight with Warren and I still haven't heard a word from Mckenna. Several forward calls to voicemail and unanswered text messages my temper was going to get the best of me if I didn't get in touch with her soon. "You okay brother," Kozik questions as we get ready for our latest run," you've seemed a bit not yourself." I sighed in frustration turning to him, "have you heard from Mckenna," I snapped knowing he had direct contact with her. I mean Mckenna just doesn't fall off the planet without Herman Kozik knowing. Those two have been old friends for years. I watched Kozik get a little tense, but brushes it off like water as he restrains the guns upon his bike," yeah uh look Hap," his tone was cautious," now is not the best of times to be talking to her. She's going through some shit and needed to distance herself from Warren and the club." "Why," I questioned," what's the deal look it's way too fucking dangerous for her to be out there without club protection." "I don't know dude," Kozik's turns looking at me with disgust," the only people she'll talk to is Jax, myself or Sloan. That's it she doesn't want to see anyone else."

I couldn't figure out why it bothered me so much  I mean I never really acknowledge my feelings for Mckenna. Could it possibly be a lustful attraction or something that could bloom into something more? I mean she could be just a phase that I needed to get through my system, but as I leaned against my bike the very same realization hit me. I have always had this attraction towards her, beneath her wild color hair, the bruises hell even her shitty taste of men, Mckenna's presence was always relaxing. She always had this positive energy, a glow that was contagious I knew that I was done for if she would give me the chance.

I needed to see her so I decided to grab her address that I had found after talking to Juice and headed straight over across into Stockton. I parked my bike, moving my helmet from my head and onto my bike. I walked over with confidence knocking on her door. She had better answer it. "Hold on," I heard a woman's voice spoke and some movement inside the house. The door opened showing Sloan standing there," Hap," she sighs," what the hell are you doing over here? Mckenna doesn't want anything to do with the club right now." "Move Sloan," I scanned the room to see if she was even there I knew it was going to be quiet the task to get passed her. "Where is she," I questioned," I am not here for club business. I need to see her." "Resting," Sloan answers," look didn't Kozik tell you not to bother her." "Come on Sloan, I argued I knew I could probably pick her skinny ass up and moved her. I admire Sloan's stubbornness and the ability to care for Mckenna. "Fine," she groans moving aside," look bare with her." I enter inside walking from the living room to the hall where I pushed the door open to her room.

There she laid sleeping peacefully, her blankets tossed around, the heating pad upon the floor and the fan lightly humming.  I walked over quietly removing my shoes sitting on the bed next to her. She looked angelic, at peace like nothing in the world matter at this point. I lightly played with her hair. "It's gone," her voice sounds hoarse as if she had been crying, I looked down at her pulling her closer to my arms. "Are you okay," I whisper wanting to provide comfort to her I could see in her half-asleep eyes that she's been crying. "It's never an easy choice," she pauses looking at me," I had to do it though. I can't be with Warren he's become out of control Happy. He will do anything to get me back." " I know I've been kind of shitty Mckenna," I sigh I wasn't sure how to form what I wanted to say," look I care about you. I promise that bastard will not leave a finger hand on you." She looks at me again laying her head on my chest only to fall asleep again, Sloane stood by the door with her arms crossed. "You better take care of her Hap," her tone was threatening," or else that's your balls," with that she leaves back into her room.

Hours passed I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up I found her staring at me. "What," I questioned giving a warm smile leaning up to stretch. "How long were you here," she questioned cautiously I only then realized she was just in black CLASH t-shirt and a pair of boyshorts that showed the cheeks of her ass. "I didn't do anything I swear," I answered grabbing her hands," look I meant what I said I'm here to protect you baby or no baby. I can't explain it Mckenna I just feel this fucking drawn it's like a moth being burned in flames." I couldn't read her mind as we sat in silence, "Please don't leave," she pleads," you get rid of the nightmares." "What nightmares babe," I ask as she crawls closer to staring at me as I pulled her into my arms playing with her hair. The scent of flowers mixed with wood and citrus tickled my nostrils. I sat in silence giving her time to share her pain. "The parties," she spoke breaking the silence," I remember the taste of booze shoved down my throat, colorful pills with designs on them and the snorting powder upon the table." I wanted to put a bullet in his head I hated hearing this shit that he put her through. "The worst part," she gives a faint laugh," is that I woke up half-dressed wondering what the fuck happened. I'm surprised I didn't get an STI or killed." "Look at me baby," I lifted her chin," Warren better yet no man will ever hurt you again. You're my woman." "You're woman," Mckenna repeats looking directly into my eyes," you mean old lady?" "You're damn right," I spoke kissing her soft lips.  I pulled back smiling," now go shower we'll see if Sloane and Kozik want to hang out and grab a bite to eat." "Sounds good," she kisses me again I knew I wanted her, but now was not the right time. I watched her grab her clothes walking back into her bathroom to get dressed.
