v. | AWKWARD ENCOUNTERS
CASTIEL WANTED TO DISAPPEAR, who told him this was a good idea, why didn't Samuel stop him or something. He knew he was a leader but not all leaders are right on taking decisions like this. And this was a terrible decision to actually take.
Standing in front of Stark was awkward, both quiet and just looking around, avoiding eye contact and if they did look into each other's eyes, it was broken rapidly.
"So Tony, what's new?" Castiel finally spoke and making the most human question he could think of. Even if it was stupid cause he knew the answer already, he knew the whole battle situation and the mess that was coming afterwards.
"Well you probably know already," Castiel knew of course "But aliens came to earth and threatened to destroy the city and well, now the government is making sure nothing happens again but personally, their decisions are just stupid."
Castiel just nodded his head and looked around, there was silence again, all they could hear was the ocean waves crashing into the rocks outside the place.
"Why did you say you were an angel of the lord? Are you religious or something, don't get me wrong, I got nothing against religion but just got me confused there." Tony questioned Castiel who looked at him with wide eyes.
Trying to think of something Castiel took a bit long to answer, what can he possibly say to something like that.
"Yes, I am religious, catholic actually, but my answer was just to lighten the mood, have something to laugh at but it didn't work." Castiel explained himself and he hoped this answer could be believable to Stark.
Tony just nodded his head and let out a quiet huh. He had questions about him, especially if Castiel, was the person he saw yesterday just standing from the other side of the window.
"Not to sound crazy or anything, but you do seem familiar, I don't know from where but I am pretty sure I have seen you before." Tony said as he walked behind Castiel and looked at him before stopping in front of him, trying his best to figure him out.
"Well, that is a crazy idea you have there Mr. Stark, I have seen you before," Castiel said and now it was his turn to do the exact same thing that Tony did "you know, in TV or even the magazines talk about you. But I am not from New York so there's no way we could've met before" there was confidence in his words but he was nervous, Castiel had to hide his hands in his back to avoid Tony seeing them shake.
Tony doesn't have to know where he met Castiel, not yet. Or that's the angel's idea. Keeping his past hidden from him just long enough or just until Tony trust him and there were no awkward silence.
"Tony!" A female voice was heard around the house and a redhead walked down the stairs with some jean shorts and a buttoned white shirt, her loose hair covered her face but it wasn't until she reached the first floor for Castiel to notice the freckles she had on her cheeks and nose.
"Yes, Pepper?" Tony said and turned his body to her direction as she walked close to him and finally saw the other male standing next to Tony.
"First, you aren't going to introduce me to your new friend here?" Her eyes went to Castiel as she stretched her hand out and smile. The angel stepping forward and taking her soft hand into his, shaking it gently up and down.
"Castiel, meet Pepper" Tony said loving her right hand pointing at the angel and then at Pepper and viceversa "Pepper, meet Castiel, new bodyguard of mine."
"Nice yo meet you miss Pepper." Castiel smiled and gently put his hand back to his side and looked from Pepper to Tony and back at Pepper.
"Nice to meet you too Castiel, interesting name, what does it mean?" She asked curiously at the unknown name.
Castiel was proud of his name but also a bit disappointed about it, he sometimes felt like he wasn't accomplishing or even embracing his meaning.
"It means shield of god, in the Hebrew bible my name is written as Cassiel, but my father decided Castiel sounded better." With the meaning of his name Pepper smiled and aw'ed at his explanation.
"Your family is very religious Castiel, that's a good thing, it means they have hope and that is something we should all have, don't we Tony?" Pepper turned to look at Stark who was with crossed arms but biting his index finger getting caught off from his thoughts.
"Yeah, of course. Cool name Castiel." Tony said as he totally ignored the question Pepper has given him and that made her roll her eyes.
"Well it was nice meeting you Castiel, I hope I see you around here more often." Pepper said smiling stretching her hand again as the angel took it.
Castiel moved away from the couple who started talking about important stuff he didn't know about. As Castiel looked around the house, memories came back, it wasn't the location that triggered them, but maybe it was the memories he experienced with the Stark family.
"Look, we need you here Castiel, we can't do this without you, she needs you here when I am not." the brown eyes of the male looked deeply into the green eyes of the other. It felt like daggers stabbing into his soul, if only he had one.
"What if I mess up one day Howard, I would not be able to live with that, he needs a father and a mother." Castiel spoke up with hand behind the blue navy suit he was wearing. The vessel he had chosen was just a co-worker of the Starks, someone close that they would trust.
"You don't need to be here 24/7, he will have an angel looking after him Cas, he will pray and he will look for you, don't lose hope on him." Maria Stark looked at Castiel putting her hand on his arm, squeezing it gently. "Don't lose hope on him."
Castiel had a new vessel now, but he still had a mission. Take care of Tony Stark.
author's note
this is a bit ugly, but it was hard on doing their encounter, I also added a small flashback in italics and you will be seeing more flashbacks of the history between Castiel and the Starks!
