Chapter twenty-eight

"Caspian and I have never been to this tree before! We don't know where this place is!" Oak protested, her heart racing. "It's too dangerous! We could get hurt!" Her wild, tangled, black hair swayed with her words.

The fairy queen was completely taken back by the female wolf-shifter's words. She was so sure that they would accept her request without any complaint. The other faeries around her were also shocked. "Oak, you can't possibly think that you can do anything to protect yourself against the guardians of the tree of wisdom." One of them said, "We're not asking you to do this alone. We will help you." Another faerie was added.

Oak is getting tired of the faeries wanting to complete the ritual and restore life to the Tear of Luna, but they simply don't have much time left. "Fine! We will do it! We will gather the leaves from the tree of wisdom and perform the ritual!" she exclaimed, her voice shaking with determination. Caspian nodded in agreement, his amber eyes meeting Oak's golden ones. They both knew they had no choice. They have to obey the faeries and keep their word; faeries hate oath-breakers.

"If we give you the leaves of wisdom, will you still help us to complete the ritual?" Caspian asks firmly, his amber gaze glowing with determination. Oak nods, her expression grim. "We'll do everything in our power to restore life to the Tear of Luna. Even if it means facing whatever guards the tree of wisdom."

Queen Mab had never seen these wolf-shifters as brave as those before them. She had no reason to doubt their words now. She nodded solemnly, a tiny smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Very well, Caspian and Oak. You have proven yourselves to be loyal and honorable creatures. You may take whatever provisions you may need for this journey from our stores. The path to the tree of wisdom is a long but dangerous road to travel. You must be prepared for whatever challenges may come your way." She explains grimly, her pastel eyes gleaming with approval.

Caspian and Oak nodded their heads in agreement, feeling both humbled and grateful for the trust the faeries were placing in them. They spent the next several hours preparing for their journey, gathering food, water, and any other supplies they thought they might need along the way. As the sun began to set, they bid farewell to the faeries and set out into the forest, their hearts heavy with determination and worry for what was about to come their way.
