Chapter thirty-two
The female panther led them through the dense forest, her movements graceful and silent. Soren and Aurora followed close behind, their senses alert for any signs of danger. As they continued deeper into the woods, the air grew colder and the trees seemed to close in around them, creating a dark and oppressive atmosphere. Despite this, they couldn't help but feel a sense of peace wash over them coming from the panther, as if she were at home in this place.
"Where are you taking us?" Aurora asked worriedly. She tried to hide in her green cloak, her blue eyes darting around the forest. "I hope you know what you're doing." The panther glanced back at her and gave a soft chuckle.
"I'm taking you to the Tear of Luna you are seeking," the panther explained calmly. "Caspian and Oak are not far from here. They have been successful in finding the charcoal, one of the ingredients they need to complete the ritual, but you two are tasked with finding two ingredients: a sprig of mistletoe and a handful of river stones for water. Once you all gather all the ingredients, you can restore the life of the Tear of Luna." The panther continued to lead them deeper into the forest, her pace never slowing.
Soren's sense of smell had changed, and the air around them became more damp and musky. The forest floor was covered with moss and ferns, and the trees were towering giants of green and brown. The air grew even colder, and the leaves on the trees began to turn a vibrant shade of red and gold. As they continued to follow the panther, they spotted a small clearing ahead. In the center of the clearing, there was a massive boulder with strange symbols carved into its surface. Aurora and Soren exchanged glances, their hearts racing with anticipation and fear.
"You may approach," the panther said softly, her emerald eyes fixed on the pair. Aurora and Soren nodded, taking a deep breath before stepping into the opening of the boulder. The opening leads to a small chamber within the rock, lit by a soft, ethereal glow. At the center of the chamber, floating above the ground, is a circular piece of moonstone, seemingly suspended in midair. Guarding the Tear are three powerful spirits, each embodying one of the elements: earth, air, and water. They stand watch, their eyes glowing with an unearthly light, ready to defend the tear against anyone who would take it without proper respect.
"Is this the tear?" Soren whispered, his voice shaking slightly. The female panther nodded, her emerald eyes glowing softly in the dim light. "It is," she replied, her voice calm and soothing. "You must now approach the spirits and prove your worthiness to claim the Tear of Luna."
Soren and Aurora exchanged nervous glances before taking a step forward, their hearts racing. As they drew closer to the spirits, they could feel the power emanating from them, almost palpable. The air around them crackled with energy, and the earth beneath their feet trembled slightly.
"They are worthy," one of the spirits said, its voice deep and commanding. "They must have the sprig of mistletoe and a handful of river stones for water." Soren and Aurora looked at each other, nodding. They haven't even found the last two ingredients; Soren and Aurora are way behind on the quest. They couldn't help but feel discouraged.
"We don't have the ingredients right now, but we can find them for you." Aurora said it with determination. "We won't let you down." The spirits seemed to consider her words for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Very well," said the spirit of air, its voice smooth and ethereal. "You have until the next full moon to find the sprig of mistletoe and the handful of river stones. Bring these to us, and you may take the tear of Luna," the spirit explains. The energy crackled around them and then slowly faded away.
"We don't even know where the ingredients are." Soren admitted, his voice shaking slightly. "But we'll find them. We'll bring the tear of Luna back to its rightful place." The spirit of the earth nodded, its expression gentle. "Very well," it said. "You may leave now. But remember, you must find the sprig of mistletoe and the river stones before the next full moon. The fate of the Tear of Luna rests in your hands." The spirit spoke, its voice deep and commanding.
