Chapter thirty-seven
"How are we going to lick this?" Soren asks somberly, his brow furrowing in thought. "Do you think we should just approach the tree, or should we try to communicate with the spirits first?" Aurora and Caspian looked at each other, both uncertain. Oak, however, seemed to have an idea.
"I have an idea!" she exclaimed, her golden eyes sparkling with determination. "We should gather some offerings to present to the spirits. Something that shows our respect and gratitude for allowing us to enter their realm. We could find some flowers, or maybe we can use the items we already have!" she suggested, her black, tangled hair bouncing around her face as she spoke.
Caspian and Soren exchanged glances, nodding in agreement. "That's a good idea," Caspian said. "We should show the spirits that we mean no harm and that we are grateful for their guide." They set off into the forest, searching for flowers or other offerings that might please the spirits.
"We should go back to the mistletoe and the handful of stones to see if that will work." Aurora suggested, glancing at her friends. "The mistletoe symbolizes life and rebirth, and the stones could represent the stability and endurance of nature. Maybe they'll be more receptive to our offerings if we include them." They retraced their steps back to where they had hidden the mistletoe and the river stones, carefully retrieving them and adding them to the selection of flowers and other items they had gathered.
'there, much better." Soren nodded, pleased with the offerings they had gathered. He carefully arranged the mistletoe, stones, flowers, and other items they had found into a small pile at the base of the ancient tree. "This should show the spirits that we come in peace and with respect," he said solemnly.
Oak felt a pang of sadness as she laid down the last of their offerings, her golden eyes meeting the ancient bark of the tree. "I hope they accept our gifts and help us," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the hum of the forest.
She knew if they refused their offer, she'd have to think of another way to convince them. With a deep breath, she steps forward, leading the group as they approach the massive tree. The air around them feels charged, electric, and full of power. The spirits must be close, waiting to see if they truly mean what they say and offer. Oak feels a surge of determination course through her veins, and she takes another step forward, her golden eyes fixed on the ancient bark before her.
"Spirits of the Forest! We beg your wisdom and aid."Oak calls out, her voice echoing through the stillness of the hidden realm. The air seems to hum in response, but there is no other sound. She takes another step forward, feeling Caspian, Soren, and Aurora close behind her. "We are wolf-shifters from the lunar eclipse pack, seeking the knowledge that you alone possess. We mean no harm, and we come with respect and gratitude for allowing us to share your sacred space," he says, his voice steady and true.
Soren steps forward, careful with his sore ankle, and kneels before the base of the ancient tree, offering the small pile of offerings they have gathered. "We present these humble gifts to you, spirits of the forest, as a symbol of our gratitude and reverence for your wisdom and power. We hope that they will show you that we come in peace and that we mean no harm to your sacred realm," he says, his voice steady and sincere.
He stepped back away from the tree as he waited for Aurora to take her turn. She kneels down beside Soren and lays a hand on the top of the pile of offerings, feeling the weight and texture of the mistletoe, stones, and flowers beneath her fingertips. She takes a deep breath, letting it out slowly, and closes her eyes for a moment as she focuses her thoughts and emotions.
She opened her eyes, focusing on the ancient tree trunk. "Spirits of the forest, we humbly ask for your guidance and wisdom. We are new to your ways, and we know not what we seek. But we feel that you hold the key to unlocking the secrets of our true natures and the path to becoming the warriors and protectors that our pack needs us to be." Her voice was soft yet strong with determination.
"We wish for your aid to save our people because the tears of Luna had little time left. It needs to help restore life to our world again. but in order to do so, we need your wisdom and help. We hope that you will grant us your guidance and assist us in our quest." Aurora's voice was steady and clear, carrying the weight of their desperation and determination.
The crackling sound of energy filled the air as the spirits began to gather around them, their ethereal forms shimmering into existence amidst the leaves and branches of the ancient tree. Oak felt a shiver of awe run down her spine as she took in the sight of them. They were tall and imposing, with the bodies of wolves and the faces of ancient, wise men. Their eyes gleamed with wisdom and power, and she could sense their intelligence and understanding radiating from them.
"What do you seek from us?" One of the spirits asked, its voice deep and resonant, echoing through the stillness of the forest. Oak felt a surge of hope rise within her as she met the spirit's gaze. She never thought she had seen such a creature before. Its wolf-like form was massive and imposing, and its ancient features seemed to glow with an inner light.
"Yes, spirits of the forest, we do seek your wisdom and aid," Oak replied, bowing her head in respect. "We are wolf-shifters from the Lunar Eclipse Pack, and we have been called to your realm to ask for your aid in order to save our people and restore life into our realm. The Tear of Luna is dying, and we fear that time is running out. We have come here with respect and gratitude, offering our humble gifts as a symbol of our good intentions and our reverence for your power." she said, gesturing to the pile of offerings at their feet.
The spirits of the forest exchanged knowing glances, their ancient eyes gleaming in the dim light. After a moment of silent contemplation, the lead spirit stepped forward, its massive wolf-like form towering over Oak and the others. It spoke in a deep and resonant voice, echoing through the stillness of the forest. "You have come to the right place, wolf-shifters of the Lunar Eclipse Pack. We have watched your kind struggle for too long, and we feel your pain and desperation. We understand your need for our guidance and aid." It paused, looking each of them in the eye. "But you must understand that the path you seek is not an easy one. The power that you seek and the knowledge that you crave come with great responsibility. You must be prepared to face the darkness that lurks within yourselves, as well as the trials that await you in the outside world." They nodded amongst themselves, their ethereal forms shimmering with an otherworldly light.
