chapter thirty-five

Soren didn't want to walk back to the same hill he just climbed, but it was the closer way to the same forest they had come from before. The same panther was waiting for them.

"I really don't want to climb that hill again." Soren muttered, looking back at the hill they had just descended from. "But I guess there's no other way," he added with a sigh.

As they climbed up the same hill, Soren felt like he was reliving a nightmare. The heat was unbearable, and the wind seemed to mock them. As they reached the top, their bodies ached from the journey, but their spirits were high. They had made it back, and now it was time to face the panther once again.
Soren, Aurora, Caspian, and Oak stand in front of the forest they once came from. The trees stood tall and proud, as if they were watching them. The cool breeze blows, making them feel refreshed. The panther waits for them, her emerald eyes glinting in the sunlight.

"I see you have returned with the items," the panther said, her voice calm and collected. "You have proven your dedication to this quest. But I must remind you that the legends about the charcoal were false. She explains, blinking her emerald eyes. "There is no such power that can be harnessed from it. You must find another way to save your people."

"We know," Soren said, looking at the panther with determination. "We won't give up. We'll find another way." The others nodded in agreement. "We have come too far to turn back now," Aurora added, her voice steady. "We will not let our people down." The others nodded in agreement, their expressions resolute. "We're willing to do whatever it takes to save our people," Caspian said, his voice filled with conviction. "We'll search every corner of the land if we have to." Oak stood tall, her shoulders back, and her hands on her hips. "We will not be defeated," she declared. "We will find a way."

The panther nodded her head slowly. "Very well," she said, her voice solemn. "I will grant you one last boon. I will show you a place where you may find the answers you seek. It is hidden deep within the forest, guarded by spirits even more powerful than mine. But if you can find it, and if you can prove your worth to them, they may help you on your quest." She paused for a moment, her emerald eyes boring into each of them. "Are you ready to face this challenge?"

"Here we go again." Caspian chuckled lightly, taking a deep breath. "Lead the way, great spirit." Soren, Oak, and Aurora nodded in agreement, their determination burning brighter than ever. Together, they followed the panther into the depths of the forest, their footsteps echoing through the dense foliage. The trees towered above them, their branches forming a canopy that blocked out the sunlight, creating a world of perpetual twilight. The air grew cooler and damper as they ventured deeper into the heart of the forest.

"I'll guide the four of you to the entrance of the hidden realm," the panther said, her voice barely audible over the rustling of leaves and the calls of birds. "But once you enter, you must find your way alone. The spirits that guard this place will not tolerate my presence." The group nodded solemnly, following the panther through a narrow passage between two ancient trees. The trees grew closer together, their branches intertwining to form a tunnel of living wood. The air grew thick with the scent of moss and earth, and the sound of rushing water could be heard nearby.
