Chapter fourteen: Scaling Peaks and Unveiling Secrets

"We can't just leave this place. It's our home, and we haven't moved terribly far. We should at least scout the area around here to make sure there aren't any dangers lurking nearby before we set off on a long journey." Caspian suggested, his amber eyes scanning the forest around them. The others nodded in agreement, and they all began to spread out, sniffing the air and listening for any signs of danger.

Cedar nodded his head in agreement with Caspian's suggestion, and he assigned several wolves to scout the area around them. As they searched, they began to notice small signs of disturbance here and there: broken twigs, overturned leaves, and even the occasional scent marking that did not belong to any member of their pack. It seemed that other wolves, or perhaps even other animals, had been in this area recently, but there was no immediate threat that they could detect.

"A lot of animals have already left this place. It's probably due to the weather. We should continue our journey." Onyx suggested, his tail wagging worriedly. The other wolves nodded in agreement, and they set off once more. Before they start to begin their journey, they haven't forgotten to gather their belongings, a.k.a., their equipment and weapons. They took their bows and arrows, swords, spears, shields, and other tools that they thought they might need during the journey. After gathering everything, they started their long journey towards the sacred moonstone caverns.

"I don't even know we need these things; they are bad enough that hunters and fur trappers use them." Cedar grumbled, his fingers brushing across the ornate hilt of his sword. The others ignored him, knowing that he was just being cautious. They continued their journey through the forest, with Soren leading the way and his keen sense of smell guiding them towards their destination. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, but still they pressed on. The air grew colder as they ascended higher into the mountains, and the trees thinned out, replaced by rocky outcroppings and patches of snow.

"This is bloody crazy!" Oak shouted, her voice echoing across the mountaintop. "We've been climbing for days now, and the caverns still feel like they're nowhere near here!" The other wolves nodded in agreement, their breath fogging in the frigid air. It was true that their journey had been long and arduous, and they were all beginning to question whether they were even on the right path.

"And we are going to smell like this for the rest of the weak!" Oak complained, sniffing at her matted fur. The others laughed, trying to lighten the mood. As they continued their climb, they noticed that the rocky terrain was becoming more and more jagged, as if they were approaching some sort of barrier.

"I don't remember this place being a barrier!" Caspian shouted, his voice carrying across the windy mountaintop.
"Well, it looks like one to me!" Soren growled, his tail drooping as he surveyed the sheer cliffs that loomed before them. The other wolves gathered around, their breath misting in the frigid air as they tried to decide what to do.

"do we need to shift in our human forms for this? it might be easier to climb." Soren suggested. The others nodded, and one by one, they shifted back into their human forms. The transformation was always uncomfortable, but it did grant them more flexibility and agility. As they scaled the jagged rocks, they felt the cold air bite into their skin, but they pushed on, determined to reach the sacred moonstone caverns.

"what do you say Caspian? you Wanna retired adventuring after this?" Soren asked as he climbed over a large boulder. Caspian shook his head, his tousled hair whipping around his face. "No, I'm in it for the long haul. Besides, there's got to be something interesting waiting for us in those caverns, right?" he said with a grin.

Soren shrugged his shoulders at the thought. They had explored a number of places near their territory that were of interest to them. But this one, the sacred moonstone caverns, had always been a mystery, something that had drawn them in from the moment they had first heard about it. And as they climbed higher and higher, pushing their bodies to the limit, they couldn't help but wonder what secrets waited for them within its dark depths.
