Chapter fifteen: Descending to the Unknown

"We should be able to reach up there soon. but I am not sure about going down there. It looks... dangerous." Oak said, her voice trembling slightly. The others nodded in agreement, but they knew that they couldn't give up now. They had come too far. As they neared the top of the cliff, they caught their first glimpse of the sacred moonstone caverns. "There it is!" Aurora exulted, pointing towards the massive entrance carved into the mountainside.

Cedar sighed in relief when he saw the entrance. "Well, here goes nothing." He said this before taking the lead, carefully climbing down the jagged rocks. The others followed, their feet finding purchase on the stone and their hands on the rough surface. As they descended, the air grew colder and more damp, and a faint glow seemed to emanate from within the darkness of the cave.

"Do we really need to be in our wolf forms for this? I think it should be safer if we stay in our human forms," Oak suggested. The others nodded, shifting back into their human forms once more. They carefully made their way deeper into the caverns, following the faint glow that seemed to emanate from the walls. The air grew colder and damper as they descended, and soon they found themselves wading through icy water that pooled on the cave floor.

"Caspian, your scent is getting stronger here." Soren said, noticing the scent of the wolf with him. "I think this is the place." The others nodded, feeling a sense of excitement and trepidation coursing through their veins. As they continued deeper into the caverns, the air grew colder and damper still, until they found themselves wrapped in an icy embrace. The ground beneath their feet became slick with moisture, and their breath fogged before them in the frigid air.

"This place smells disgusting." Oak said, her breath coming out as a cloud of vapor. "and cold. so cold." Cedar nodded his head in agreement, his breath misting as he spoke. "But there's something else here too. Something..." He trailed off, his gaze fixed on a small opening in the wall of the cave. The others followed his gaze and saw the same thing. A faint glow emanated from the opening, bathing the area in a soft, otherworldly light. "I think that's it," Cedar whispered.

Caspian couldn't shake the feeling off his chest as he stared into the faint glow. It was almost as if something was calling out to him, beckoning him to come see what it would offer. The others seemed to feel it too, for they all stood silent for a moment, lost in their own thoughts. Aurora broke the silence when she said, "Well, let's go see what this place has in store for us." With a deep breath, they all moved forward, stepping through the small opening and into the chamber beyond.
