8: A Girls Night

{Piper's POV}

Okay, I know I said that I wouldn't hang out with these girls. But I am not  being that girl who skips Girls Night.

I slip a shirt and some sports shorts on and braided my hair. I knew that tonight was where a lot of secrets would be dropped, as per usual.

Thalia:  McLean, I've been outside ur house for at least 5 minutes. Come on! We need to pick up Annabeth, Katie, Calypso, and Hazel on the way!!

Piper: U didn't tell me u were outside my house!! I'm not ready!

Thalia: Too bad so sad. I'm coming in through ur window if you don't come out in the next 5 min

Piper: Fine

I threw my phone, a flashlight, the Girls Book, and the basic sleepover necessities in a gym bag. I slipped on my Nike slides and ran out of my house.

I jumped in Thalia's black Toyota that probably was her dad's, and sat in shotgun. I was greeted by Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

"Finally," Thalia rolled her eyes, turning down the music so I could hear her, "way to live up to your nickname, Beauty Queen."

"Oh shut up, Thals," I shot back. She rolled her eyes once more.

"Buckle up. We're going to Annabeth's."

...

I didn't expect what I saw.

Annabeth's house was a small little house that you could barely call a townhouse. It wasn't bad-looking, it's just not what I expected.

As Thalia texted our friend to come out, she must've noticed my look.

"Annabeth lives here with Mr. Brunner. She ran away from home, her parents...aren't the best people. She lives here with her half-brother Malcolm on her mom's side. That's why it's not exactly...nice," she explained. I nodded.

Annabeth jumped in the backseat and smiled. "Hey guys."

As soon as Thalia heard her door shut, she sped off. "I'm sorry, we just need to get to Flower Girl's house!"

In retrospect, I still don't know how we didn't get a ticket for speeding. Thalia's tough anyway. She's been part of the Hunt for a while, and if that's not tough, I don't know what is.

The Hunt was a rebellion against soulmates. It wasn't an illegal rebellion, it was more like a group of girls who didn't want to give into soulmates. Thalia, who's soulmate is unknown, joined to help with her and Jason's financial issues.

After we picked up Katie, Calypso, and Hazel, we drove off to Rachel's.

...

"Okay! What movie tonight?" Rachel asked, shuffling through Netflix.

"...To All The Boys I've Loved Before? I read the book, and yes I know, I'm a nerd, but still. It's really good. Please?" Annabeth asked. I laughed.

"I can live with that," I answered.

So To All The Boys I've Loved Before is playing, and we're making cupcakes. As we bake, we gossip, as our routine goes.

"Alright. First things first, how was your date, Calypso?" Rachel cooed. We "oooh"ed and teased her, while Calypso just blushed.

"Oh, it...it was nice. I-I liked it. He liked it. I MEAN, I think he liked it. I hope. Err, I mean, he could've liked it, I don't care."

"Uh huh. So did you kiss?" Clarisse spoke our minds with a straight face.

"Ooh! Is he your soulmate?" Katie asked.

Calypso was red at this point. "What? No! No, we didn't kiss. And uh, well, we just saw a movie. That's it. Nothing else, really."

"I know Leo well enough to know he would've spilled as soon as they kissed. So I'm gonna believe her. But Leo is whipped  for you, Calypso," I giggled.

"Oh shut it," Calypso scowled.

"NEXT! Crushes," Rachel smirked. Well crap.

"HAZEL HAS A CRUSH ON FRANK!" Katie teased. Hazel buried her face in her hands.

"Wait, seriously?" I asked.

"Uh, duh! Is it not obvious? And he totally  has a crush on her, but she DOESN'T BELIEVE ME!" Rachel whined.

"He doesn't  have a crush on me! He likes someone like Gracie. She's pretty. I'm not," Hazel groaned.

"Oh my gosh. Shut up, Hazel! He likes you, and that's that."

"Has he openly told you that."

"Not yet. But I'll make him admit it."

"No!"

"Alright, who here has a crush?" Calypso asked. Rachel elbowed me in the ribs.

"Ow! What was that for?" I muttered.

"Oh stop lying, Piper. We all know you have a crush. And I don't know if they know, but I know who it is," Rachel smirked.

"Wait, wait. Who is your crush? I need to know!" Reyna argued.

"I..." I sighed, "Uhhh..."

"If you don't say his name, I will," Rachel threatened.

"Wait! Let's make it a game. Give us a hint," Annabeth ordered.

"He...he's really cute," I muttered.

"Well no dip, Sherlock! Give us an actual  hint."

"He...he has blond hair, err, blue eyes..."

"And?" Reyna coaxed.

"Well, uh, someone here knows him really well," I said, meaning Thalia.

"Okay, one more hint," Katie begged.

"Uh, he wears glasses."

"One more hint."

"No!"

"Please?"

"Fine. Uhhh, he's on the Lightning Bolt Lacrosse Team," I muttered.

People threw a few answers around, including Will, but no one got it.

"Seriously? C'mon, Thalia, you know this!" Rachel encouraged. I slapped a hand over her mouth.

"What do you mean I know it? I obviously don't! It's not like..." she trailed off, "oh my gosh...you don't mean...oh my gosh. Piper, why him? Why?!" Thalia groaned.

"I can't help it, okay?" I shot back.

"Who is it?" Hazel asked.

"It's my freaking brother !" Thalia moaned. Some of the girls shrieked.

"I knew it! I KNEW IT!" Rachel cheered.

"Jason Grace ? Are we thinking of the same  Jason Grace?" Annabeth asked.

"Unfortunately," Thalia muttered.

"Yesss! Jasiper is my new OTP," Calypso laughed.

"After Percabeth!" Katie reminded.

Annabeth groaned. "Your still  talking about that? We don't  like each other!"

"Sure, sure," Rachel waved her off.

"Wait, Thalia, who do you like?" Hazel asked.

Thalia's expression turned dark. "I - I don't like anyone, and I won't, after..." she sighed, "after my soulmate died."

I gasped along with a few others. "Wait, your soulmate died ?"

"Yeah...his name was Luke Castellan, I guess. Never got to meet him. But my sword tattoo is faded and his name is in my skin, so I assume he died..."

"I'm...sorry," Hazel whispered.

"It's fine. I never met him, so it's not like I can say he was a good guy. It's fine. I'm fine. I didn't want a soulmate anyway. I never liked the idea," Thalia shrugged it off.

"My soulmate died, too," Reyna spit out. We turned to look at her, confused.

"Yeah...his name was Castor Bacchus, I guess. You probably remember his twin from school, Pollux Bacchus? Yeah, his twin. Don't say your sorry; it's whatever."

"Okay...so, uh, speaking of soulmates...any tattoo news?" Rachel asked.

I shrugged. "Not recently."

"Me neither."

"Nope."

"None here."

"Okay then. Be that way, then," Rachel pouted.

We spent the rest of the night eating cupcakes and watching movies. And let me just say, it was one amazing night, contrary of what I expected.
