21: The Snow-In

bit of a longer one! but there's a lot of musical singing involved so if you skip that part of the chapter it's probably about the same amount as a normal chapter.

las time:

The group made it to the cabin. Solangelo and Jasiper share rooms due to Mr. Will Solace.

tis time:

After a Solangelo breakfast, the gang decides to go out, only to discover a snow-in.

disclaimer: there's a little bit of language of the beginning (that is censored), but what do you expect with solangelo?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Nico's POV)
Will Sol-a** decided that he and Jason just had to switch rooms, because Jason couldn't stand my creepy sleep-talking.
Which is a total lie, because I sleep-threaten, not talk.
As per usual and what I suspected, I was the first person awake with the Teenager's Record-Breaking Wake Up Time: 5:55. I could just hear Percy's snoring across the hall; that really sucks for Annabeth.
I slumped onto a chair at the big table. We had to bring metal chairs to fit all of us, so the chairs are all mismatched. Miss Demeter would be proud to know I was eating cereal (Cheerios, if anyone cares. Percy says it's because there's a hole in them like the hole in my heart).
"Why the hell are you up this early?" I heard. I almost jumped out of my skin (which would be easy. I'm literally skin and bones).
"Damn (yes I know it's DAM but this is Nico who wasn't there. also this is an au soo), Solace," I gasped. "You scared me. No one wakes up this early."
"I do," Will offered. "I'm a morning person."
"Of course you are," I sighed.
"I just got here and you're already pushing my buttons," Will rolled his eyes, and grabbed a carton of orange juice. As he poured it into a tall glass, I answered.
"I'm trying to find mute," I snapped, but Will only sighed. He sat across from me.
(i'm so sleep deprived i actually debated making will and nico face off about t-series and pewdiepie)
"Why'd you switch rooms last night?" I groaned. Will smirked.
"Jason was so desperate to share a room with none other than Miss Piper," he laughed.
"Totally believe that," I noted, and he winked. Winked. That little-
"So, Sir Creeps-A-Lot, did you bring a Ouija Board?" Will joked.
"Hell no," I responded. "I know I'm, like, the Ghost King of our century, but I don't screw with demons."
He was trying to make small talk. I knew it and hated  it, because I despise small talk. He was about to comment on my last little line, but the noise of pounding feet interrupted it.
"Guys-" Rachel gasped, but then stopped in her tracks at the sight of Will and me. I looked down and Will winked. Rachel tilted her head, studying us, but then shook it away.
"Anyway!" she yelled. Rachel ran toward the window and wiped away the cold air covering the window, gasped, and then cursed.
"What's wrong?" Will asked.
"We're snowed-in!" Rachel groaned, and flopped onto the couch.
(Third Person POV)
"So what are we going to do all day?" Connor complained.
"We have board games. We have movies. We have plenty of food," Piper pointed out. "We have each other. It'll be fine."
"Let's play a game," Frank declared. "Any ideas?"
"Like, a board game?"
"No. Like, a game."
"A singing competition!" Will announced. Some groaned, and some cheered.
"C'mon, Piper'll win," Percy whined. "I want a game where I  can win."
"Nope, it's official!" Rachel decided.
"Wait, I have a better idea," Travis spoke up. "What if you theatre geeks did a show for us normal people who can't sing ? Like, a comedy show."
"Yes!" Piper approved the idea immediately. "Let's do it." She shuffled Connor, Jason, Rachel, and Will to a corner where they discussed their ideas.
Jason eventually left and sat down. "I'm not doing it," he laughed. "It's too crazy." People groaned.
"Think of your funniest songs," Clarisse yelled at them. "Do your meaningful ones some other time."
"Okay, we've got a few," Connor said. "The first singer is Rachel Elizabeth Dare, with I Love Play Rehearsal  from Be More Chill !"
Rachel laughed and waved and did mock "thank you's." She cleared her throat and Will played the karaoke version from his phone.
"I love play rehearsal
Because it's the best!
Because it is fun."
Some people giggled at the unpoetic approach to the song. Others chuckled at Rachel's dramatic acting.
"I love play rehearsal
And I get depressed
As soon as it's done.
But not depressed as in, like, kill yourself depressed
No, I'm not into self-harm.
Dude, I swear! Here, check my arm."  Rachel lifted her sleeve and her audience laughed.
"See, I just use the word to emphasize a point
Show the passion I have got
I am passionate a lot." Rachel took a deep breath. She was preparing herself for her, well, Christine's emotional outburst.
"I have mad, gigantic feelings
Red and frantic feelings
About most everything
Like gun control, like spring." No one expected the outburst and they laughed respectfully.
"Like if I'm living up to all I'm meant to be," Rachel sang dramatically. The look on her face was like she was gazing into the universe.
"I also have a touch of ADD," she winked and the ADHD kids chuckled. When Rachel gave them her best blank face, the laughter died slightly.
"Where was I?
Oh, right! " And all the ADHD kids lost it.
 "I love play rehearsal
'Cause you are equipped with direction and text
Life is easy in rehearsal
You follow a script so you know what comes next.
"Amen!" Piper yelled, and more laughing was heard around the room. Piper smirked at her joke.
"Anywho the point that I'm getting to is sometimes life can't
Work out in the way
It works out in the play
Like the only time I get to be the center of attention
Is when I'm Juliet or Blanche DuBois
And can I mention?
That was really one of my best roles
Did you see that? "
"ME!" Will yelled over the music and winked.
"And no matter how hard I try
It's impossible to narrow down the many reasons why-y-y
I love play rehearsal
I happiness cry whenever it starts!
It's just so universal
Getting to try playing so many parts
Most humans do one thing for all of their lives
The thought of that gives me hives!
I've got so many interests I wanna pursue
And why am I telling this to you?
Guess there's a part of me that wants to."
The best part was that Rachel was a good singer. She sang so well, her singing could distract you from the whole comedy act in general. It definitely distracted Connor.
"Back to play rehearsal
My brain is like 'bzz'
My heart is like 'wow!'
'Cause we're here at play rehearsal
And it's starting
We're starting
It's starting
Soon...
They laughed at the abrupt ending, but the audience clapped. "That was decent," Clarisse decided.
"Decent ? I poured my heart and soul into that." Rachel put a hand on her heart in mock pain.
"Next, we have Piper McLean in Sexy  from Mean Girls !" Connor announced, and some of the group laughed just at the title.
"I think this is the  funniest song in all of musical theatre," Piper said. "I know you've all seen Mean Girls , whether it was willingly or not doesn't matter. So, this is Karen singing."
"Oh no," Reyna muttered and laughed.
Will started his music.
"Hi," Piper waved. Some said hi back, others laughed.
"If I could change the world
I'd make it Halloween
Every single day
And also have world peace." Audience respectfully laughed.
"Maybe world peace should be first.
World peace and then Halloween
Wait, let me start over."
The song had cracked up the entire group, mostly at things like "I give you, sexy corn!" and showcasing Will or "This is modern feminism talkin', I expect to run the world in shoes I cannot walk in" or "I can cure sex cancer! Sex cancer doesn't exist! I DID IT!"
The comedy show went on for a good while, maybe an hour and a half. One of the best moments being Connor and Will singing Sincerely, Me  from Dear Evan Hansen. They also joined with Piper to sing Blue  from Heathers , just to keep in spirit and to make Jason uncomfortable.
After the comedy show, they ate lunch and watched a bunch of random movies that Piper had lying around. And since the theatre kids just couldn't stop singing, they did karaoke right after dinner.
Piper insisted that she sang just about three million Billie Eilish songs, and Annabeth noted that she had a very wide range of musical taste. Since nobody really wanted to sing, Piper got to sing all of those Billie Eilish songs.
Jason's sure that Piper's rendition of COPYCAT  will be stuck in his head for about a gazillion and two years.
Piper was most ecstatic to sing my strange addiction  with Will, and everyone has to admit, they were a great duo. They were jumping around and laughing as they sang, and the snow-in became more like the sleepovers they've had before.
As Piper and Will sang bellyache, others found their own source of entertainment.
Percy and Annabeth were in a heated game of Monopoly. Leo, Reyna, Clarisse, Thalia, and Travis were playing Jenga (Leo just lost, and the girls were yelling at him for it). Hazel, Katie, Jason, and Calypso were playing some kind of card game next to Nico, Connor, Rachel, and Frank, who were playing poker.
Long story short, the gang was up 'til around 4:25 am. They all fell asleep in the living room. Legally Blonde  somehow managed to get itself on their TV, but Piper still sang quietly. Half the group fell asleep to Piper singing six feet under  ("Would roses bloom? Could roses bloom?") while the other half fell asleep to her singing lovely  ("But I hope someday I'll make it out of here"). Both songs were equally hypnotizing.
