A big announcement saying that you could hear music and the voice of your soulmate. 

THIS TIMEEE:

The role call is up for the school play, The Heathers. It's Rachel, Piper, and Jason's first practice for the play.

(Rachel's POV)

The girls and I sat at our normal hang out spot during our free period: a table near the electives hallway. Piper was shaking and fidgeting to no extent.

"Chill out, Piper. I'm sure whatever role you get is fine," Annabeth reassured her.

"Yeah, we're in this together," I nodded. I was also trying out for school play.

"You don't understand," Piper stressed. "I'm fine with whatever role I have. I'm just scared about..."

"About?" Hazel asked.

"You can finish your sentence," Thalia reminded.

"If I get, let's say, Veronica or one of the Heathers. They both have some kind of romantic...interest, to say the least. Who's gonna play the romantic interest?" she explained.

"Jaaaasoooon," the table teased.

Piper flipped us off.

"Doesn't Veronica have a bang scene with-" Katie started.

"NO! No," Piper panicked. "Well, yeah. But for legal reasons, we're doing the high school version. The legal PG version. So there's none of that."

"Aww," the table whined.

Suddenly, a group of kids chased down the hallway towards the electives hall. Within the crowd, Jason (what the hell does Piper see in him?) poked out. He ran over to us and grabbed Piper's arm. "C'mon, the role call is up!"

Piper blushed and grabbed my hand. "Let's go!"

After we started running off, I winked at Piper. She rolled her eyes and whispered, "I could let you go into the crowd of crazy drama kids."

"Don't you freaking dare," I replied.

"I do, Rachel Elizabeth Dare," Piper winked at her pun.

Finally, we got to the role call list, but I couldn't see. (FOR YOU READERS' BENEFIT, HERE'S THE LIST) :

"I got Veronica!" Piper gushed. She and I clapped and fangirled. 

"Did I get anything?" I asked.

Piper smirked. "Why don't you check?" So, I listened to her:

HEATHER MCNAMARA: RACHEL DARE

"No way!" I screeched. "Heather M? I didn't think I'd get anything with my red hair!"

"Piper! Rachel!"

We turned to see a few friends standing behind us: Will, Lacy, Connor, and Jason.

"What'd you guys get?" I asked.

"I got Kurt," Will laughed. "Dunno how!"

"And I got Ram," Connor rolled his eyes. "Jason here stole JD from me."

Piper and my eyes widened. "You got J - You...you got JD," Piper laughed awkwardly.

"Uh, yeah," Jason blushed. "It's really cool. Did you get a role?"

She blushed and bit her lip. "Uh, yep."

"Really? Who?" he asked.

"Um...um, Veronica," Piper flushed.

Jason's eyes widened, too. "Oh. Oh, that's great!" After a good three seconds of silence, Lacy McLean, Piper's little freshman sister, spoke up.

"Ignoring the sexual tension, I got Martha!" she smiled toothily.

"Good job, Lace!" I high-fived her.

"Lacy!" Piper hugged her sister. "Yay! I'm so excited! We get to play best friends on stage, too!"

"But you have to betray me," Lacy teased.

"Yeah, yeah. You got a big role!"

"So, what'd you get, Rachel?" Will asked.

"Heather McNamara," I smiled. "I get to play a biotch." I flipped my hair, just for effect. The group laughed.

"Yeah, yeah," Connor chuckled. "Let's get our scripts, shall we?"

...

"So, how'd it go?" Annabeth asked.

Piper and I made eye contact and smiled. "Well," I answered.

"Who'd you guys get?" Clarisse questioned.

"Actually, I got Heather McNamara," I bragged.

The table gushed, cheered, and congratulated me. "The namesake," Katie laughed. "But how are you gonna play such a jerky popular girl?"

"I got the nicest one," I shrugged. Everyone seemed to realize that it made sense.

"So, how'd it go for you, Piper?" Hazel asked.

Piper looked down, being dramatically fake sad. Before anyone could get up to comfort Piper, she looked up and smirked. "I got Veronica!" she announced.

"No way!"

"Seriously?!"

"Oh my gosh!"

"Congrats!!"

"That's amazing!"

"What'd my brother get?" Thalia asked. I turned to Piper and she blushed.

"...JD," Piper flushed. The table freaked out again and started to gush and tease her. I personally thought it was hilarious.

"We promised to practice with the guys after school today," I said. "So we can't hang out tonight."

The girls finally got upset over something we said.

...

We met up in my (thankfully) empty house.

"Okay, so, what songs do you guys have?" Lacy asked.

"I'm in, uh, Beautiful, Candy Store, Fight For Me, Big Fun, Me Inside of Me, You're Welcome  (replacement for Blue, and I {and the cast} like it better than Blue), Shine A Light, my solo Lifeboat, Shine a Light Reprise, Yo Girl, Dead Girl Walking Reprise, and Seventeen Reprise. Every other song is Veronica and JD," I explained.

"I...think I'm in every song," Piper blushed. "Except Kindergarten Boyfriend."

"That's what happens when you're the main character," Will shrugged, and went back to humming On My Own  from Les Mis. 

"I like You're Welcome  better than Blue," Piper added.

"Blue ?" Jason asked.

"It's from the Off-Broadway version. It makes everyone super  uncomfortable to listen to," Lacy explained.

"And I get to rap in this one! Well, like, half-rap," Piper shrugged.

"Do you guys not listen to musicals?" Will continued in shock.

"I do!" Connor defended.

"Sing some, then!" I announced. Connor and Jason looked at me like I was insane, but Piper, Lacy, and Will smirked with a knowing victory.

"What you want, Warner, what you want is me!

But you need to see me in a brand-new domain!"  Piper started.

"Uh...On the outside always lookin' in, will I

Ever be more than I've always been?

'Cause I'm tap, tap, tappin' on the glass.

Waving through a window!"  Jason countered.

"I can do anything better than you!"  I yelled. Thankfully, Will caught on.

"No, you can't!"

"Yes, I can!"

"No, you can't!"

"Yes, I can, yes I can!"

"I'm getting married in the morning!"  Connor sang.

"Ding dong, the bells are gonna chime!

Drug me and jail me, slap me and mail me,

But get me to the church on time!"

Will quickly thought of a response. "Who can say where she may hide?

Must I travel far and wide?

'Til I am beside the someone who

I can mean something to.

Where? Where is love?"

The boys looked to Lacy. She smirked and sang.

"The sun'll come out tomorrow

So you gotta hang on 'til tomorrow

Come with me!

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow

You're always a day away!"

I started to sing Giants In the Sky  from Into the Woods, but Piper had started to sing On My Own.

"And I know it's only in my mind,

That I'm talking to myself and not to him,

And although I know that he is blind

Still I say, there's a way for us!"

Everyone stood in shock of Piper. It was amazing she could hit such a note. She looked at us, confused, until she finally said, "What?"

"...how'd you hit that note?" Connor asked in disbelief.

"I don't know!" Piper shrugged.

"...sing If I Were A Bell," I ordered.

"Ask me how to describe this whole beautiful thing?

Well, if I were a bell, it'd go ding dong, ding dong, ding!"  Piper looked at us like we were insane as she sang.

"What about Cell Block Tango ?" Lacy asked.

"He had it comin', he had it comin'

He only had himself to blame.

If you'da been there, if you'da seen it,

I betcha you would have done the same!"

"Santa Fe," Jason demanded.

"Santa Fe!"  Piper sang well, but unamused. "Can we stop treating me like a Guinea pig?"

"Yeah, yeah," Will shook his head. "We're dorks."

We all cracked up. "I see why you got the role," Lacy teased.
