Chapter 4: Carrie's Big Break

(A couple of months later)

Carrie was out at the local nightclub, ready to perform for the full crowd that was out there. She got a bit jittery and paced around in her dressing room. "Gah, pull yourself together Carrie. The people are rooting for you." She looked in the mirror and shakes herself awake. "Alright, time to go out there." Her eyes fluttered for a moment and she headed out to the stage and it's closed curtains.

Amelia flew out to Burbank, despite Carrie's runaway note telling her not to look for her. She searched far and wide for her, but with no luck. Getting frustrated, she heads to the local nightclub to get her mind off of things. The scenery was very low lighted, a stage stood before them, where many new and classic performers come to sing for the crowd. "Huh, from what I read, this place usually isn't this packed like this.." She spoke to the person next to her, and that person told Amelia "Yeah. There's suppose to be a new act coming on tonight, and we're all here for it."

The lights turn off and a spotlight points towards the curtains as Carrie comes out slowly, singing a slow jazzy song. "You had plenty money in 1922.. You let other women make a fool of you.. Why don't you do right like some other men do?" She walks down the runway, some of the men fawning at her beauty like a pack of dogs, but she sets them back in their seat with a push of her foot, continuing the song. "Get out of here, get me some money too." Amelia immediately knew the voice and whispers "Carrie?" "Yeah.. What a lucky girl that escaped from her mother.."

"You're sittin' there, wonderin' what it's all about. If you ain't got no money they will put you out! Why don't you do right like some other men do?" Carrie takes off her feather boa and tosses it right into the audience. "Get out of here, get me some money too." She winks and then begins to finish her song for the night. "If you had prepared twenty years ago, You wouldn't be out wanderin' from door to door. Why don't you do right like some other men do?" She does a couple of riffs in between the takes. "Get out of here, and get me some money too.. Ooooooh.. Why don't you do right, Like some other men...." She then notices her mom in the audience and walks back, taking the feather boa back from the guy who had it. "Doooooo? Woah!" The curtains close as the audience cheered.

(Backstage.)

Amelia knocked on the dressing room door and Carrie opened up, looking up at her. "Mom, what do you think you are doing here? I thought I made it clear you shouldn't have come looking for me." She crossed her arms and looked away. "Yes, but I just wanted to see you one more time, and I figured you would be here." "Admit it, You're only here for my success and for my money! Every time I do something that is worth something, You profit off of it to fund your habits. Mom, I don't know if you notice this, but I'm finally known as someone other than 'Your Little Bratty Cinderella.' Now just get off of my back." She walked away from her and Amelia stood there in shock.

"Kid, what did I ever do to you?" She yelled at her and Carrie groaned. "You know good well what you did. That's enough." Amelia begins to follow her, heading outside to the Warner Siblings who were waiting for her. "No. Why?! Why did you run away? Why did you have to shut your family out?! WHAT ARE YOU SO AFRAID OF?!" Carrie finally snapped and turned around harshly, shoving her away forcefully. "I said enough!!" She breathes out heavily and Yakko takes her hand. "Come on. Let's just go..." The four of them walk away and Amelia watched them leave.

"You haven't seen the last of me..."
