"Why are you doing this to me Eva?", Mia screamed, in shock.

"Open the door!" Mia started banging the door again.

"Mia are you fine?", asked Eva's voice.

"Nooo! ", Mia screamed, in tears now.

"What is wrong---", before she could finish, suddenly the floor beneath her feet started shaking. She didn't understand what was happening at first. As the shaking slowly became more violent, she almost fell over.  She heard loud crashing and banging sounds behind her. She turned around, facing the room. The pictures thud against the walls, drawers opening and banging shut, window curtains shrieked on their rods. She looked out of the window. She had never seen the rain pouring down with such high intensity before. Looked like nature was taking revenge against all the humans for being so cruel and selfish.

Mia was terrified. She had never experienced anything like an earthquake, or whatsoever was happening before. A chill ran through her spine.

How much she wished her sister was with her. Eva would have definitely figured a way out, like how she always solved Mia's problems. Eva was a reservoir of ideas, she had a solution for every problem in the world. She was extraordinarily the most creative person Mia knew in the world.

All of a sudden the door opened with a creak. She almost jumped at the shrill sound. She turned slowly to face the door, trembling.

The door was wide open now. However she couldn't see anything. The corridor was just as dark as her room was .

"Evaa? Is it you??", she asked, fear evident in her voice.

There was no reply. Another chill ran through her spine.

"Eva??", she called out again, her voice a little louder.

But there was no reply again.

She was upset to not find Eva outside, but at least she was relieved of not being locked in her room, alone. Gathering all the courage she had, she decided to go out to look for her sister.

"Eva? Are you there?", she asked stepping out of the door.

The window at the the end of the corridor, let some light in. She could faintly see everything around. She stopped abruptly after her very second step. She looked down her feet to find water down there. "This is so weird! who in the world spilt water in the doorway!", she thought.

As she looked up she noticed a small cascade of water on the staircase which was right in front of their door. At first she didn't realize why the was water flowing down the staircase like that. In a few seconds, this thought struck her.

"Oh no! Maybe someone left the terrace door open!", she spoke aloud to herself. "What should I do?!", she thought.

She at first thought of going upstairs and locking the door herself. Surprisingly the water was flowing down with increasing rate. She dropped the idea immediately, as within no time the water flowing down staircase looked like the Niagara Falls to Mia!

She stood there in shock , staring the staircase. Before her brain could think of going back into the room and shutting the door, water had already started gushing into the room, at an alarming rate. As she came back to her senses, she rushed back to her room. She tried shutting the door, but she couldn't overcome the force of water.

The water level was rising continuously. It had reached her knees. She was so perplexed with what was happening, that she couldn't figure out what to do. She kept trying to close the door and this time the strong flow of water pushed her so hard that she fell back onto the ground.  She tried getting up, but failed to find any rigid support.

Everything in the room was all wrapped with water, including Mia herself. Soon the room looked like a swimming pool, or rather an ocean with all the things in their room floating around. Mia wasn't very fond of swimming.

"This must be how the ocean looks like with plastic, paper and all other man-made things floating on it. She remembered how Eva always dragged her around to all kinds of nature conservation programs, camps and protests for conserving nature. Eva always told her how much the daily human activities are impacting our environment in a negative way", she thought. She now understood how the fish and other aquatic creatures would feel when they're home is dumped with garbage. She herself felt like a fish at that moment, as all their belongings floated around her.

There was water and only water surrounding her from all sides. She felt like a helpless fish thrown out of water. She struggled to get up, but all her efforts went into water. Her limbs were tired and she couldn't move them anymore. She had never felt this exhausted before.

She had lost all hope. She couldn't see anything but water around her. She couldn't hear anything but the sound of water gushing into her room. She couldn't feel anything but water that had engulfed her.

She was so exhausted and terrified, that her eyes involuntarily closed shut in fear, but she was not unconscious. After sometime, the sound of water was no longer heard, the water around her seemed to have disappeared, everything seemed to have calmed down.
But she was still cold and shivering. Her limbs were still stiff. Then at that moment she forced her reluctant eyes to open, though she was afraid to face what was waiting for her.

Slowly she opened her eyes and her brain couldn't process, what her eyes perceived.
