Bangtan<3

Lee Haeun's P.O.V

"You know this would have been easier if the man could talk.." Officer Kim sighed for the nth time as he slowly started losing hope in the interrogation. The man he spoke of spat on the floor at his feet and looked back up at the ceiling exhausted. His teeth were coated with blood and spit as he smiled slightly still feeling giddy from being in a drugged state. He was cuffed to a metal chair and was seated in the middle of the room under a bright light.

"Well he wasn't doing much of that either.." I said as I wiped the blood off my knuckles with a rag. They felt sore from the violent hits it took but they looked much better off compared to the damage I'd done to the man seated before me. I walked around him and adjusted my chair and took a seat in front of him again.

"Let's go through this one more time Mr. Lee...I want you to think real carefully now. Do won probably thinks you're dead and to be brutally honest here i dont think he gives a flying fuck so there are no rules of barter here. We and more specifically I can do whatever I want with you..So lets make your stay here a bit more bearable and answer some questions, yes? "

Lee spat in my face.

Officer Kim handed me a handkerchief and I carefully wiped my face clean before looking back up at him. How ballsy...

"Hold him" Officer Kim sighed again but didn't hesitate to brutally grab Lee's hair and angle his face towards me.

"I'm going to pull out one of his teeth if he does that again..." I said making it sound like I was warning myself rather than giving officer Lee a heads up.

"Is what you're doing even legal? You're supposed to be interrogating me as the suspect you think I am...but here you are assaulting me, a law abiding citizen. That's quite a number of guidelines you're breaking, officer.." Lee scoffed, his tongue sticking out to graze his bleeding lip.

"Please dont..." officer Kim said before I could act. "We need his mouth to be in a healable state...you know how hard it was for me to cover for you last time? Chief was so far up my ass I could predict everything he was going to say before he could say it..."

"Mr. Lee..." I said leaning in and cupping his face gently with a soft smile, throwing him off guard. "Every time you do or say something that doesn't answer my question I'm going to pull out one of your teeth with a spoon...well what's left of them anyway..." I said cringing slightly when I noticed how horrifically abused they were, but I re-composed myself.

"And my partner here won't be able to help you...do you want to start talking now?" Lee nodded slowly, unsettled by how he actually believed that I was capable of doing that. The idea of his teeth being carved at by a spoon bothered even me, at least that was something we could agree on.

"Where is Do won right now..."

"I don't know..."

Crunch

The sound of his nose breaking resonated in the air when my fist came into contact with his face, Lee groaned aloud rolling his head back in pain. Blood trickled down his lips as he squeezed his eyes shut trying to concentrate on staying conscious. Usually I wouldn't get this violent with a suspect but the images of them replayed themselves in my head. The poor children didn't stand a chance when they were under his rusted roof. They didn't deserve what this man and his goonies did to them and I shook with rage every time I let myself slip back there.

"I mean...the last I heard he was under someone's protection..." he corrected himself taking a deep breath when he knew he was going to have to continue. "Fuck with him and you fuck with them...and trust me you don't want to fuck with them" he said looking around hastily as if he was scared they were somehow watching his every move.

"Who are they? This person you're referring to?" my question seemed to have rattled him far more than my beatings had. He looked genuinely scared for his life and that hurt a small part of my pride but I let it go.

"Lee...who are they?" Lee shook his head vigorously despite the tight hold Kim had on his hair. What kind of gang made a low-level drug lord quiver in his seat even when he was under the protection of the law at that very moment? Who exactly were they?

"Lee...don't make me ask again" I said, almost growling, the expression on his face pissing me off.

"I can't...they'll kill me..." he whispered looking up at me, begging me not to make him do it. My lips twitched at the thought of this man fearing someone else's wrath when he was so close to drinking out of a straw in the near future.

"They won't since they can't...have you forgotten where you are? You're at one of the most secure federal government branches in Korea...how is some twat with a gun scaring you?" Kim turned to look at me, understanding the reason I worded my sentence that way.

"You need to be careful with what you say, officer...you never know who's listening.." Lee looked close to shitting himself when he heard me insult this mystery person.

"It's not just one person...it's a group of people..."

"Do they have a leader?" I asked, leaning in, memorizing every word coming out of his mouth.

"Yes, they do...he's a demon from hell..." Lee whispered the last bit making sure the CCTV wouldn't pick it up. I snapped my fingers in front of his face drawing his attention back towards me, I was growing impatient with the vague answers he was spewing.

"Keep going Lee I don't have all the time in the world, Kim has paperwork to finish and I have a bed to get back to.." Kim cast a harsh glare but I deflected.

"There's seven of them...all of them are just like their leader..." he shuddered slightly. It was painfully obvious how he was having a whole montage of a memory playing behind those distant, dilated pupils.

"What do you mean by that Lee?" I signaled Kim to start recording when I realized Lee wasn't preoccupied with protecting certain facts...he was too far gone to realize he was exposing something that was going to come back later and shoot him in the ass.

"Something's not right with them...there's something so fucked up with the way they think and act...everyone in the criminal world...ask anyone...mention their name and they'll spit at your feet. The mere mention of their name brings bad luck, it's made so many ruthless crime lords superstitious and cowardly it's pathetic...but if you knew what they were capable of...you'd do the same" Lee's eyes had widened as he spoke of the group that terrorized the criminal world. Where had they come from? Had they always been there? Were they so skilled that no one had noticed them until now? Were they puppeteering everything with their power?

So many questions flooded my head, just how much were they able to accomplish under the watchful eye of the law? Was the law turning a blind eye? Were the higher ups keeping something from us?

"Where can we find them?" I leaned closer, resting my hands on his shoulders. Lee dropped his head low and went silent. Kim shot me a small look, confused. It was then that Lee's shoulder's started shaking slowly, as if he were crying. When Lee looked up at me with a small smile I felt the slightest shiver travel down my spine. He was laughing.

"You won't be able to. They'll find you first..."

------------

I ran a hand through my hair, irritated. Kim stood next to me leaning against my desk as he flipped through multiple case files, searching for the group that was powerful enough to have one of the most important and dangerous mob bosses, Do Won, under their protection. Obviously they were at the top of the food chain in the criminal world but what puzzled us both was that such a significant and unpredictable group of individuals wasn't on our Red Notice.

Bangtan...the name rolled off the tongue so well it was concerning. Even though we had the name there wasn't a single criminal record of them. It would have been easier if we had at least one of their names but even Lee had absolutely no idea. All he knew was that a group like that existed. He knew nothing of what they looked like or their age; all his information was based off of what word was on the street. Records-wise, they didn't exist. But it was safe to assume every lawless citizen knew...like a shadow they loomed over South Korea, existing silently.

"Fuck, I can feel another headache coming on..." I looked over to my partner, "Do Wons a simple man, why on earth did he have to go and make it complicated by consorting with the literal ghosts of South Korea? That's out of his character..." Kim shook his head and tossed another useless file onto the pile he'd skimmed through.

"Looks like we have a whole new organization to destroy...make sure you get Yura's approval before you start pulling all nighters Kim." I sighed, sinking back into my chair.

"Stop mentioning my wife at work Haeun...plus I'm a cop I don't need my wife's permission.." Kim coughed a pink hue covering his entire face.

"Her dominant aura says otherwise," I snorted as I pulled out a magazine and covered my face. "Wake me in 10 you simp.." I said, before Kim could fire back with a flustered scolding.
