Healing

"Should we wake Henrik up?"

"Nah, he needs his rest."

Schneep heard Sam and Dean's voice as he woke up, his eyes fluttering open to see the brothers standing at the end of his cot.

Cas was standing off to the side, the angel looking out the window before looking over at the German once he realized that he was awake.

"G'morning Doc, how're you feeling?" Dean asked as he grabbed a paper cup up filled with coffee off of the dresser behind him and offered it to Schneep.

The German flinched as memories of his coworker Doctor Iplier abruptly surfaced to the forefront of his mind, his hands shakily taking the cup.

"I'm fine, I just...I'm just a little homesick I guess." Schneep lied, Dean wordlessly offering Schneep his silver flask.

"Dude, he's a doctor, there's no way that he dri-"

Sam broke off as Schneep gratefully accepted the flask, pouring some of the alcohol into his coffee before taking a drink and handing the flask back.

Schneep nodded in appreciation as he held the cup in his hands, Dean shooting Sam an "I told you so" look while Schneep glanced over at Marvin's sleeping form.

"I'm guessing he hasn't woken up then." Schneep sighed in disappointment, standing up and placing his half empty cup down on the dresser behind Sam and Dean.

"Look, are you sure you're okay? You have that look like you've lost someone important to you, but want to push your grief aside and pretend it doesn't exist." Dean interjected.

"You say zhat like you've been through zhe same thing." Schneep remarked, Dean and Sam sharing a knowing look.

"We've been through the whole song and dance multiple times, so we kinda know. You shouldn't work through it by yourself." Sam advised.

"I just..." Schneep trailed off as he closed his eyes, the memory of Doctor Iplier's chocolate brown eyes filling his vision while the smell of blood haunted him.

"Mein only friend, Doctor Iplier...I killed him and vatched as all of his trust in me change to betrayal, zhe light in his eyes fading away as he collapsed in a pool of his own blood. I didn't even get to stay by his side as he died." Schneep choked out quietly, his voice cracking with emotion.

"I've been possessed before, Dean has too. Both of us did things that we still regret." Sam admitted, Schneep's expression shifting to horror

"Es tut mir Leid, I didn't mean to bring any bad memories up." Schneep apologized hastily.

"Did you just sneeze or something at the beginning of your sentence?" Dean questioned, Sam punching him on the arm while Schneep smiled faintly.

"No, it means 'I'm sorry' in German." Schneep explained, his face flushing a bright red hue in embarrassment as he busied himself with checking on Marvin.

"So how is he?" Sam asked, changing the subject as he gestured to the unconscious magician.

"He's burning up." Schneep stated worriedly, carefully moving Marvin's body so he could put him under the blankets.

"Cas, can't you heal him or something?" Dean asked him, the male walking over and pressing his hand to Marvin's forehead.

"No, whatever it is that's happening to him is something I can't fix." Cas muttered as he pulled his hand away with a frown.

"Well that's great." Dean grumbled in irritation, Schneep going into the bathroom and returning with a damp cloth.

"Here, maybe zhis vill help." Schneep murmured as he placed the cloth around the back of the magician's neck, leaving his mask alone.

"You said zhat another demon vill come for Marvin's soul." Schneep added, looking over at the brothers.

"I don't know when or who it'll be, but demon's don't just give up on claiming souls." Dean replied grimly.

Schneep's attention returned to Marvin as he shifted in his sleep, the magician murmuring something in his unconscious state.

"Zauber?" Schneep whispered gently, leaning closer to the magician to hear what he was saying.

The German quickly stepped back as Marvin started thrashing from side to side, his body beaded in a cold sweat.

"I can at least keep him asleep until he's better rested." Cas offered, touching his hand to Marvin's forehead once more.

Marvin's body instantly became still once more as Cas moved his hand away, his breathing labored.

"Look, I know it's not ideal, but Marvin has to honor the deal he made. If he doesn't, Anti will keep coming back." Dean spoke up, Schneep shaking his head in response.

"We can kill Anti if he tries to come back." Schneep suggested hopefully, the three males staying silent as Schneep sank down onto his cot.

"I'll take Marvin's place then." Schneep decided, shooting off of the cot and leaving the room.

"What are you doing?!" Dean shouted after Schneep, the German pausing in the doorway to glance back at the trio.

"I'm saving Marvin." Schneep stated before leaving, Cas staying in the room with Marvin in case he woke up while Dean and Sam ran after Schneep.
