Chapter 5
-One week later-
"Peridot you really need to tell us what the hell is going on." Jasper stated, staring at me from the couch. "I don't know what you're talking about." I claimed, looking away. "Dude. We all see it. Your head has been in the clouds! You haven't been wanting to go on missions!" she protested. "You've been cooped up in your room like 90℅ of the time now." Aquamarine added, filing her nails. "What's this phase you're going through, dude? You love going on missions and you used to talk to us all the time!" Amethyst said. "Guys, you're seriously making a big deal out of nothing. Nothing's wrong with me, and I'm not going through any phase." I explained, crossing my arms.
"Well, you sure as hell have been acting different lately..." Jasper remarked, looking at the TV. "Still don't know what you're talking about." I claimed stubbornly. There was some silence for about 3 minutes, until Jasper broke it. "Alright fine. If you're not acting any different and there's nothing wrong, then I guess you won't mind going on a mission with us." she said in a smug voice. I side glanced her and bit the inside of my cheek. "N-no! I don't want to, Jasper." I protested. "HA. See what I mean?" she asked, throwing her arms up in victory. "I-it's not because I'm acting different! It's s-simply because I don't feel like it. I'm not in the mood." I explained, crossing my arms again and closing my eyes.
"You haven't ever been in the mood lately! This is what we're talking about!" Amethyst shouted. "You're going on a mission with us whether you like it or not." Aquamarine stated firmly. "You can't make me." I said, turning away from all three of them. I then felt four hands grab my back and tackle me to the floor as I screeched loudly.
. . . .
"This is kidnap." I deadpanned, sitting in the backseat with Amethyst. Jasper was driving and Aqua sat in the passenger seat. "Oh don't be such a baby. We're just gettin' you some fresh air to clear your head." Amethyst assured. "The windows aren't down." I replied. Jasper then proceeded to roll down all four of the car windows and now an extremely loud whoosh noise was all that filled the air. I sighed, and slumped into my seat further. "Alrighty, it is exactly midnight and the bank should be closed by now." Jasper said as she pulled next to a curb across from a nearby bank. "I'm not getting out." I said, looking out the window. "Ha. Yes you are." Jasper shot back, and got out of the car. Amethyst got out of the car as well, and Aquamarine stayed seated as she pulled out her gear.
"See, I'm normally the tech person. Why can't I just do that?!" I whined, peeking out the open window. "Because I am for now." Aqua answered. "That's not fair! You don't even know the first thing about this technology." I replied, furrowing my eyebrows. "Says who?" she asked in a cocky voice, opening up my laptop. "Says me." I responded harshly. My car door suddenly opened, and Amethyst reached in to unbuckle my seatbelt. "HEY!!" I screeched, trying to shove her away. I heard a 'click' and then she grabbed my wrist. "C'mon, Peri." she said, yanking me out. I screamed in protest, but they ignored me.
"Shhh!!! You're gonna draw too much attention to us!" Jasper whisper-shouted as we walked to the bank. I crossed my arms and huffed, knowing that if I booked it, both Amethyst and her sister would probably tackle me and drag me back. We arrived at the entrance, and Jasper took out her crowbar. She dug it into the crack of the door, and used all of her strength to jerk it. "That's not gonna work. Banks aren't that easy to break into-" I was interrupted by the sound of shattering glass. I looked over at where the sound came from, and there was a jagged hole in the window. Amethyst had thrown a rock through it and stared at me smugly. "You're gonna cut yourself." I said, staring back at her.
"No, I'm not. Because I'm not climbing in." she said. "Then how the hell are you gonna get in there?" I asked, questioning her logic. I then felt two large hands pick me up under my arms like some animal and I kicked my legs in terror. I yelped, and thrashed as I tried to escape Jasper's grasp. "Get ready to roll, buddy." she said, before proceeding to chuck me through the hole of the window. I curled up into a ball and screamed into my knees as I flew through the air and into the building. I groaned as I hit the hard floor with a loud 'thump'. We've already made too much noise. God, I'm going to jail tonight because of these dumbasses.
I slowly climbed to my feet and dusted myself off, glaring at the two on the other side of the door. Jasper then jiggled the doorknob a little bit, signaling for me to unlock the door. I rolled my eyes, and hesitantly walked to the front counter. A key laid on the desk, and I reached over to grab it. That was easy. I walked back to the door and quickly unlocked it, opening it. "Can I go back to the car now?" I asked, stomping my foot. "Nope. You're helping us." Amethyst replied, walking toward the front counter.
"I already helped you!" I whined, balling my fists. "Yes you did. And thank you. Now you will help with this." Jasper said, following behind Ame. I rolled my eyes once again, and shoved my hands into my pockets. "Now, how do we get this safe ope-" Jasper stopped mid-thought as soon as sirens were heard in the distance. I felt my stomach drop, and it felt like my heart stopped as well. I let out an abnormally loud whimper, and my fingers began to fidget. "W-we have to leave now." I said, walking towards the door. Aqua then kicked open the door, causing me to jump back. "Have you dullards no fucking ears?! I've been calling you cuntbags for almost five minutes! The fuzz is on the radar and they're probably down the street by now!" she cried, glaring at us.
Jasper pulled out her phone, and looked down at it in horror. "Fuck!" she yelled, stuffing it back into her pocket. Lapis can NOT find out I'm a criminal. NOT YET! NOT. YET. I practically shoved Aquamarine out of the way, and sprinted as fast as my legs could take me to the door. "Peridot what the fuck is your problem?! You're never this terrified!" Jasper shouted after me. However, I ignored her, and ran out the door, hopping into the driver's seat of the car. I then screamed in terror as I heard the others roughly open the car doors. "You better not have planned on leaving us behind." Jasper hissed as she sat beside me in the passenger seat.
"Psshhh, what?! Of course not!" I squeaked, staring straight ahead as I started the car and took a deep breath.
