The girl with light brown hair walked outside of school after she found the mysterious card. She wondered how did she even get the card. What's so special about her?

(OPENING INSERT)

Thoughts filled her mind as she sighed and saw the sign

"this must be the place..." she muttered silently and entered Card Capital 2

Her eyes slightly widen when she salw the place it was quiet and there's only a few people even though the fact was it's usually full of people.

The boy with black hair with a ponytail soon realize that she entered

"ah welcome to Card Capital 2" he greeted

"Uh.. Yeah.. Thanks" she said in her normal emotionless tone

'oh great another Toshiki Kai..' he thought in his mind having a ==" face "anyways," he speak up "what brings you here.... Uhm..."

"Akari Nakano" the girl looked at him

"ah yes nice to meet you, I'm Kamui Katsuragi. What brings you here Akari-san?" the brunette known as Kamui asked

"it's about cardfight vanguard"

"What about it?" Kamui asked seriously thinking deep like there's going to be another war

"how to play that game?" she asked raising a brow

"oh.. uhm.. It's not that hard" he answered with a smile as he sweatdrop in his mind for thinking too deep

"can you teach me?" she asked her tone surprisingly was kinda curious

"well.. I can't now. However I know a person who can and is available now" he answered

"uh huh, where is she or he?"

"follow me" Kamui went out of the counter and started walking to a deeper part of CC2 as Akari followed silently putting her hands into her pocket.

Kamui then stop on his tracks "uhm.. Hold up.."

"hn?"

"Do you have the deck that you'll be playing with?" he asked

"Uhm... No but I have this" she took out the card

"Hmm.. What's this.." muttered the brunette as he took the card

'Mistress In Hidden Shadows, Katsumi?' he thought to himself observing the card

"is there something wrong?" asked Akari in her voice which was serious

"N-nothing.. But I never seen this card or before.." he said before scaning to the clan name part which is

Meanwhile

"Venus Luquier attacks. Skill activated I send two units to the soul and gain a critical (36000/2🌟)" a girl with lavender hair said rotating the card

"No guard.." sighed her opponent who has pink hair "don't bother to trigger check. Damage check (Machining Red Soldier. Machining Mosquito) damn.. You win"

The lavender haired girl grinned victoriously

"well sorry I can't stay long I need to go now.. See ya Lucine" the blonde left

"Bye.. Amai.." Lucine sat down on the couch and start fiddling her acoustic guitar

A few minutes later two people went in to that area

Lucine sighed 'it was a very nice moment of silence' she thought before looking at Kamui and Akari

"what is it?" she asked

"Akari here, needs help to play vanguard would you... Like to teach her? Cause I'm in a rush now"

"uuh okay? Sure" Lucine place down her guitar at the sofa and took out a blue-purpulish deck box

"I don't have a deck..." Akari said bluntly showing no emotion still

"Uhh Kamui.." Lucine looked at him "she doesn't have a deck"

"well let her borrow yours then." Kamui scratch the back of his neck "don't you have 2?"

"right, but I didn't bring it." She sighed "plus that deck just have too many weaknesses"

Kamui scratch the back of his neck and sighed then threw a deckbox to her "think fast"

She opened the deck box "hn this will do.. I guess, Genesis.." it was a Genesis deck

"it's a quick build. Haven't test it. Tell me if it's good" Kamui ran out

"Genesis?!" Akari raise a brow not knowing of what the lavender haired girl just said

"I'll explain them later." she said walking up to the table she fought with Natalie before 'I guess it's best if I don't use skills such as soulblast, soulcharge, counterblast, etc... I'll tell her about those things another time, but since this is Artemis... I gotta tell her about power-ups'

"Alright..." Akari walk to the table standing on the opposite side of Lucine looking at her

"I didn't get your name. I'm Lucine"

"Akari"

"right the first thing you do is place your first vanguard which supposed to be a grade 0. Preferably with no trigger mark" Lucine explained finding her starter then place it on the vanguard circle

"OK... I can see the grade but What's a trigger mark?" Akari asked

"ah a trigger mark is in the top right corner which I will explain more about it later in the game but right now just listen to my instructions" Lucine explained

"Uhhh right.." Akari nodded

"Next you draw 5 cards from the top of your deck" she explains while drawing five cards

"uhm.. Alright" She took five cards.

"your hand must at least have a grade 1, 2, and 3 if you aren't satisfied with your hand you may redraw but remember you can only do this once in the game" Lucine said redrawing 3 cards

Akari nods while redrawing 2 cards 'hn.. There's a grade 0... With a box mark on top.. This must be a trigger unit'

"Now everything is set to begin. Imagine it! We're now at the battlefield in the Ampitheather."

Akari tried to imagine that they are there as she close her eyes. A few moments she open them to see a huge stage with empty seats however

"We're at The Pale Moon Ampitheather, Planet Cray." Lucine explained appearing behind her

"GAH.." she was a little shock to see her

"in Cray we're in a useless, weak human form that's why we have to upgrade our vanguard to gain more power also possibilities are endless here"

Akari was still a little shock about this but remain silent not wanting to say anything as then they return to reality

Lucine gave out a little smile-smirk "when we start we'll say stand up vanguard and flip our face down card in our vanguard circle. Then our body spirits in cray will be turn into our vanguard. The one who leads."

"the one who leads..." Akari muttered

"Yeah, Now ready?" Lucine touched her starting vanguard

"Yes." Akari did the same

"Now Stand Up" They both said in unison
"My" Lucine added
"Vanguard!" The both flip their faces down cards

"Silver Thorn Beast Tamer, Emilie! (5000)" Lucine declared

"Uhh.. Aiming For The Stars, Artemis (5000)" Akari hesitate at first but then say it

Two units appear in the battlefield. One was a Loli who was dress a short puffy dress. The other was a noble Maiden with a bow and arrow.

"Alright, I'll go first, so it'll be easier to explain. At the main phase you stand and draw but since all of my units are in stand all I could do is draw." she took the top card of deck "next you ride, which means going into another grade. I ride, Silver Thorn Magician, Collete (7000). Since I ride a unit from the same clan as Emile I can call Emile to the rear-guard" she slide Emile to the back of Collete

The Loli turn into a magician in green and blue as she has a flower in her hand smiling. The Loli moved back of Collete grinning widely.

"I end my turn"

"so everytime I ride I can call a unit from the bottom of the current card that's my vanguard?" Akari raised a brow

"No, that's a special skill called, forerunner. It means if you ride a unit with the same card from that clan you can call it to the rear-guard." Lucine explained

"Oh.. Only grade 0s have forerunner?"

"Not all of them, only the ones that says forerunner. Artemis isn't really a forerunner unit.. Except if you don't ride a unit called Bowstring of heaven and earth, Artemis. It may not be a forerunner but it's better to ride Artemis since this is called a ride chain. I'll explain more about it later"

"Alright.. So I presume it's my turn?"

"yes"

"okay.. I stand and draw.. Riding, Bowstring Of Heaven And Earth, Artemis (7000)" Akari placed the card to the vanguard circle

The little Archer turn into a Maiden with purple hair holding a bow

"Since it's the second turn you may attack also since you have Aiming for the stars Artemis it gains 1000"

"Okay, but one question, what are the other rear-guards for?"

"ah they're to aid your vanguard in battle. You may call them from your hand but it has to be a lower or the same grade as your vanguard. Back rows are only allowed for grade 0 and 1s"

"Alright.. I attack with Artemis (8000)" she only rotated her vanguard

"I don't guard. Now, perform a drive check by revealing the top card of your deck if it reveals a trigger"

"OK... Drive check" she reveal the top card "hmm.. This is a trigger isn't it?"

"It is, there's a mark on the top right corner" Lucine pointed "the yellow box is a critical trigger which means you get to deal me two damage to your opponent"

"Twin damage check (Silver Thorn Rising Dragon, Silver Thorn Marionette Natasha) draw trigger!"

"draw trigger?" Akari raised a brow confused

"This means I can draw a card from my deck" she took a card from the deck

"Darn.. I end my turn"

"well, that's the game's basics. You repeat the steps everytime it's your turn." Lucine was about to draw a card but was interrupted

"so.. What's the win and lose conditions?"

"ah yes. The win condition is getting your opponent to six damage. The lose condition is if you're at six damage"

"well that's boring. We can end the game in no time. If we just aim at the vanguard all the time"

"No, you can guard the attacks"

"How does the guarding mechanics work?"

"You place the card(s) at the blue circle or guardian circle to be more precise. Also guarding has to be more than the attack"

"oh.. I see"

"I stand and draw I ride Silver Thorn Marionette, Lilian (10000)."

The magician turned into an emotionless marionette with white hair and pale eyes, she has a pink broadsword on her hand.

"I attack the vanguard (15000)"

The marionette swings herself to Artemis

"I don't guard"

"Drive check (Silver Thorn Assistant, Irina)"

"Damage check (Mythic Beast, Skoll)"

The marionette slice Her sword to Artemis as she yelped.

"I end my turn"

"I stand and draw. Ride Twilight Hunter, Artemis (9000) I call Battle Maiden, Sahohime (9000)."

In the vanguard circle it shows a Maiden with pink hair and a bow and arrow. On the left side of the rear-guard shows a Maiden with short black hair and a wand.

"Sahohime attacks (9000)" Akari rotated the card

The Maiden charge at the marionette however the marionette didn't say nor flinch and remained expressionless.

"I guard that (14000)" she placed a Zelma to the Guardian circle

Sparks flew and reveal an elf with a spin wheel as the other elf was on it. As Zelma spin the wheel it says 'it ain't passing' showing it to Sahohime. As Sahohime was shown irritated and pouted.

"Artemis attacks the vanguard (10000)"

"you're getting use to things.. I don't guard"

Akari nodded and didn't say anything and reveal the top card which is Battle Deity of The Night, Artemis

Lucine also reveal the top card which is Silver Thorn Juggler, Nadia

"Finally." she sighed in relief

"what does that trigger do?" Akari raised a brow

"it lets you to recover a damage if you have less or equal damage to your opponent. In this case I'll recover one"

"Tch.. I end my turn"

"alright it's my turn. I stand and draw. Mistress of Silver Thorns head my call crush this battlefield with your magnificent whip and slay all the dragons that comes! I ride! Silver Thorn Dragon Tamer, Luquier! (11000)."

The plain marionette soon flew away in Sparks as it shows a feminine female with one blue eye and red eye as she has long black hair matching her crown. With a whip made of Silver Thorns. She has a smile but not a happy one more of sadistic.

"I call Silver Thorn Magician, Clenmes (9000) and Silver Thorn, Rising Dragon (9000)"

Later two units were beside Luquier. The magician; Clenmes had short green hair with a magician suit. The dragon has black scales and rings that are half on his neck.

"Clenmes attacks. She gains 2000 power since my vanguard has Luquier in its name (11000)"

"Damage check (Goddess of Decline, Hel)" Akari looked at the card then looked at Lucine

"Now my vanguard attacks (16000)"

"uhm..." Akari looked at her hand then the field "No guard."

"Twin Drive! (Silver Thorn Empress, Venus Luquier. Silver Thorn Hypnos, Lydia) nothing on both"

Luquier then whips Artemis like it was nothing.

"Damage check (Battle Deity of The Night) nothing"

"Rising attacks (12000)"

"No guard"

Lucine:

"Stand and draw. Do I have to be making a dramatic chant like you did?" Akari asked plainly making Lucine sweatdrop

"n-no, that was optional.."

"Okay then. I ride Battle Deity of The Night, Artemis (11000)"

The pinky Archer soon turn into a female deity with long beautiful pink/lilac hair and golden armor. A bow on her left and a wand(?) (Idk anymore).

"I call--" Akari was cut off by Lucine

"now this is where the fun begins. We have a new method when both players reach grade 3. It's called stride. You discard or put a grade 3 from your hand to the drop zone and choose a G-unit from your G-zone face down and stride that unit to the vanguard circle. At the end of turn you place the G-unit back to the G-zone face up." she explains smirking slightly

"hmm... I don't have a grade 3 in hand" she said plainly making Lucine sweatdrop

"but I do have Skoll and it says here grade+2 so I assume it's like 1+2=3. Can I stride with Skoll?"

"Uhh yes"

"alright then.." she drop Skoll to the drop zone

"Stride to...." she looked at her G-Deck confused what to stride a few minutes later she got it

"Beast Slayer Military Deity, Tyr (26000)"

Artemis soon change into a warrior with yellow hair and a sword.

"I call Witch Of Cats, Cumin (7000)"

A little witch with orange hair holding a cat appear smiling happily

"Sahohime attacks (9000) and it's not enough"

"it is, since you put Cumin behind Sahohime you can boost Sahohime with Cumin's power so the attack should be 16000"

"Alright then.. Attack! (16000)"

Sahohime aims her wand at Luquier as a green aura was sent

"Guard! (21000)" she placed Barking Dragon to the Guardian circle

Barking Dragon appeared growling as it was hit by the aura and disappeared.

"My vanguard is next! (26000)" Akari showed a little expression now

"Looks like Ms. Tsun Tsun has come out of her shell" she grin

"Do you guard it or not?" Akari asked annoyed

"I won't guard that also you perform a triple drive since its a grade 4"

"alright. Check (Battle Maiden, Kukurihime. Eternal Goddess, Iwanagehime. Witch of Grapes, Grappa) a critical I give everything to the vanguard! (31000/2🌟)"

Luquier glared at Tyr as Tyr smirked and sliced Her

"Damage check (Silver Thorn Assistant, Irina. Silver Thorn Marionette Natasha) a draw. I take a card"

"I end my turn" she placed Tyr back to the G-zone

Luquier then change to a form that she's in black with some wing-like things on her clothes

"I call Zelma (7000) and Irina (7000)."

An Elf with a spin wheel appear behind Clenmes while the warbeast holding a wand appear behind Rising Dragon

"First off Rising attacks. His skill is activated adding 3k if I have a Silver Thorn vanguard (19000)"

Rising took a deep breath and roared loudly sending wind to Artemis

"No Guard! (Battle Maiden Kukurihime) add 5k to the vanguard (16000)"

"My vanguard attacks (31000)"

"Guard! (51000) (Bowstring Of Heaven And earth, Artemis. Battle Maiden, Kukurihime. Witch of Grapes, Grappa.
Witch of Big Pots, Laurier. Dreaming Dragon)"

"no pass huh... Well Triple drive! (Silver Thorn Beast Tamer, Maricica. Silver Thorn Assistant, Dixie. Sky high walker) I give the critical effect to Clenmes and the stand to Rising. Rising Dragon attacks once more (12000 » 17000)"

'dammit I can't guard the last attacks...' she thought sighing looking at her hand to only reveal Iwanagehime

"I know what you have left in your hand. It must be Iwanagehime."

"how do you know?"

"you drove check it last turn remember?" she sweatdrop

"right..."

"anyways you can intercept with a rear-guard."

"I intercept with Sahohime (21000)" she moved Sahohime to the Guardian circle

"Clenmes will finish the job (16000/2🌟)"

"tch.... No guard.." she sighed and damage check to reveal Witch of Grapes, Grappa

"That was a close match.." Lucine sighed in relief and tidy her cards

"Agreed.." Akari nodded "it was... Not bad... I think I'll stick with vanguard for awhile.."

Lucine let out a small smile "why not Akari"

"Soo.. I got a question.." she took out the card "what's this unit?"

'Mistress of The Hidden Shadows, Katsumi?' Lucine thought to herself "I'm... Honestly not sure by myself either..." she gave back her card

"I see.. Well... I'll study more vanguard myself. Later" Akari turn around wearing her hoodie leaving the store.

"Later" she muttered "Katsumi... She's familiar.."
