Turn 76: Chase

Wyvon looked out of the window solemnly, as he sat at his poorly lit desk and watched the rain drizzle outside. His eyes were lifeless and distant, and his normal smile was a frown and looked quite sad. A quiet sigh came from the boy as he titled his head down and looked at the blue, gridded, paper in front of him, which had a design sketched onto it. While his art skills weren't very good, the detail put into it was apparent, but the design seemed hollow. With his lifeless brown eyes, he stared down at the paper, scrunched it up and tossed it to the side before laying his face on the table sadly, closing his eyes. He seemed at peace, until jerking up and covering a hand over his chest. His heart was beating fast. Wiping his eyes, Wyvon stood up from his chair and grabbed his coat, put it on and headed outside, his hands covering his eyes and rubbing them roughly.

(Opening theme here)

Rino was walking around in his Яeversed state, losing track of Atsuko.
"Where did she go...?" He raised a brow as he turned his head side to side. He ran into a convenience shop and took out his phone. Unlocking it, he texted Backlion.

Backlion

Backlion, where r the girls?

No clue. Continue searching.

Understood

Closing his phone, Rino went out of the shop and ran forward in the rain, searching for Atsuko.

Wyvon walked aimlessly, his head hung low as he stared at the ground, biting the inside of his lip tightly.
"Why me...?" He thought, walking forward without looking it. "I... I did the right thing? I protected him right...? I didn't hurt him... By..." Wyvon's thoughts cut his thoughts, remembering the disastrous day Max did unspeakable things to Wyvon that he would've done to Rino if Wyvon didn't offer himself first. Swallowing spit in the back of his throat, he turned into a card shop instinctively, before snapping back to reality, looking around.
"Why'd I go here...?" Wyvon turned away, before nearing the entrance he came from. He took out his phone and called Rino.
"Wyvon?" He replied.
Wyvon smiled slightly. "Hey Rino. Where are you? Let's meet up!"
"I'm trying to find this girl named Atsuko Kurenai. Do you know where she is?" Rino asked monotone, not caring.
"Atsuko? Never heard of her." Wyvon stated. "Why are you going after her?"
"It's Backlion's request."
"...are you feeling okay? You do realise Backlion's the V, O, I, D, right?" Wyvon whispered to him.
"I'm well aware." Rino replied. "But I must know if she is strong like he said!"
"This isn't like you at all..." Wyvon muttered. "What's wrong Rino? If it has to do with Max doing that stuff to me... I'm fine, honestly. You don't need to try and become stronger for me." He smiled weakly at this.
"Actually... Are you strong?" Rino asked.
"What kind of question is that?" Wyvon laughed it off. "Well, it depends on who you ask! I think I'm pretty strong myself."
"Where are you?"
"Uh... Card Shop Double Path." Wyvon looked at the poster for the shop.
"Funny. I'm right here." Rino walked towards Wyvon and tapped his shoulder. "Hello."
"Rino! This is a weird coincidence..." Wyvon sweatdropped.
"Let's play a game of vanguard to see how strong you are!" Rino smirked.
"Oh, you're so on!" Wyvon grinned widely as the two ran to a table. Sitting opposite of each other, they started to get ready to fight.
"Let's do this..." Rino snickered as he looked at his five card hand. Wyvon nodded happily.
"Time to beat you again!" Wyvon put his fingers on the vanguard circle. "There's something off... He's not this... Sinister."
"Let's do this."
"Stand up (the!) Vanguard!" The two shouted in unison.
"Peter the Ghostie!" Wyvon shouted, vanguard circle expanding blue.
"Gunnergear Dracokid." Rino said emotionlessly.

Meanwhile, Maverick and Ryuzaki were wandering around town aimlessly.
"So, Ryuzu..." Maverick looked down at Ryuzaki whose attention was turned to his phone. "What's the plan?"
"The plan... hmmm, well." Ryuzaki showed him the phone. "Thanks to super amazing high technology only funded by the Vanguard Association, I've planted a tracking device on Payic!"
"...wait... you put a tracking device. On her." Maverick raised a brow. "Isn't that... illegal?"
"Nope!" Ryuzaki shook his head no.
"But isn't it... wrong? Better question, when in the hell did you put it on her?! And why?!"
"It's not wrong, it was for her safety. I put it on her hair while she was asleep. It's times like this where I'm glad my quick intuition comes to plan."
"So, basically having tabs on where she is... Is YOUR MASTER PLAN?!" Maverick shouted, amazed. "rYUZAKI, YOU'RE SO COOL!!"
"I know I am. C'mon, let's hurry. Iku's waiting."
"Inu."
"Same thing."

"When did the damn Reverse spread to him too?! Ugh..." Wyvon grit his teeth. "I have to drag him out of it. If I don't... I'll become one of them. My deck meta wise is far superior.. but, his Яeverse Eagle can force call."
"Rewind time back to the darkest ages, where death and disease ran rampant! Generation Zone, Яeverse!" Rino slammed a copy of "Destruction-calling Gear Eagle "Яeverse"" into the drop zone. "Emerge from the rubble, Dimensional Dead Dragon, Chronoscommand Revolution "Яeverse"!"
"Even Chronoscommand has been Яeversed?!" Wyvon narrowed his eyes.
"Stride skill. Since I strode a Chronoscommand G-Unit, I counterblast one, and put one of my rear-guards to the bottom of my deck. Take the top card of your deck and call it to a rear-guard circle, and I'll take a look at the top five cards of my deck for a Time Leap unit."
"...calling Skeleton Cannoneer." Wyvon put the unit down.
"Adding Melem to my hand." Rino said. "Now, Chronoscommand's skill! When he's placed on Vanguard Circle, counterblast 2, soulblast 1, lock a rear-guard and G Flip a "Chronoscommand" G-Unit.... Now, call the top two cards of your deck to rear-guard!"
Wyvon flinched and called two cards. (Rough Seas Banshee, Zombie Whale of the Ocean Depths)
"Now, put all of your rear-guards to the bottom of the deck!" Rino declared.
"Sure..." Wyvon put everything to the bottom.
"Adding 20000 Power to my vanguard. (26000 > 46000)" Rino then proceeded to put down two cards. "Call, Melem And Melem. Prepare yourself." He smirked.

In a dull, lifeless and seemingly abandoned park, Ayaza sat on a tired looking bench. It's paint was fading and the wood was slowly splitting. A small pop was heard, and Ayaza started to make a gulping noise. He was drinking coffee from the can he had just opened.
"Man, this ones more bitter than usual..."
"You also drink canned coffee?" A familiar voice got Ayaza's attention. Looking up, his face turned into mild surprise, and his facial expression turned to stunned.
"Uh... yeah." He said, his heart pounding. Whether it was from surprise of the visitor, or for another reason, the person sat down. "Funny to see you here as well, Aya."
"Same can be said to you." She giggled and opened her can, and started to drink it.
"So, why are you out in this depressing place?" Ayaza asked her, fiddling with his can.
"Depressing?" Aya looked around. "It's a bit run down, really. It's pretty atmospheric."
"It feels like a place out of a book..." Ayaza looked at the non-function fountain, rusting away. "Who runs this place?"
"No clue." She replied. "Hopefully they fix this place up. I remember this park."
"You've been here before?"
"Yep. My family came down to this town when I was younger. There wasn't anything interesting in Akihabara I wanted to check out, so I came down here to Tokyo for fun."
"You're from Akihabara?! I've always wanted to go there!" Ayaza exclaimed. "There's a bunch of card shops, and I would love to check them out!"
"Yeah, there is!" Aya laughed joyfully. "I go to them often. Not to mention all the cool mangas and anime!"
"Oh, speaking of manga, I was reading one the other day. It's called Silence."
"Oooh, sounds interesting! What's it about?"
"Basically some teenager witnesses his friend get murdered in front of his eyes by this serial killer. The serial killer threatens him to keep silent or else he'll also die. Said character then becomes a police officer to go after the serial killer and arrest him as revenge for his friend."
"I'm intrigued..." Aya nodded. "I should buy it sometime."
"Yeah, totally worth it. There's 4 volumes at the moment, and I'm reading the weekly release."
"Me feels like I'll run out of cash by the end of this month..."
"I can lend my volume 1 and 2."
"Yeah, that'd be great!" Aya chirped. "Actually... I don't have your contacts."
"Uhh, do you want my number...?" Ayaza asked with caution.
"Sure! Put it in my phone." Aya unlocked her phone and passed it to Ayaza. He started to type his number in.
"You want me to get the volumes now? Since, you're here and stuff."
"Sure."
"Let's go to my apartment then." Ayaza stood up and clicked his back.
"Alright!"

"That was a pretty impressive turn..." Wyvon looked at his hand.
"I put your hand down to 4... I think I done well." Rino smirked.

"Okay, listen up Rino."
"What now?" Rino sighed. "Stop stalling."
Wyvon sighed. "I'll say it once again. What happened?"
"I already said, I became stronger."
"Like hell you are!" Wyvon snapped. "Imma get you back!"
"Stop saying that... You want to be strong like me don't you? Don't drag me back down to your level!" Rino growled. "I don't need you trying to protect me. What you did for me when Max was using us as toys was cute and all, but I could've taken it. I don't need you interfering!"
"If someone is strong, they'll show it with their actions. Not with them declaring it." Wyvon drew a card. "Generation Zone, unleash!"
"Actions are pointless. No one notices them. Words get people's attention!"
"Then I'll make this action mean something!"
"What are you on about?"
"What I mean..." Wyvon slammed a card on the vanguard circle. "Is by freeing you from the Яeverse!" Expanding deep ocean blue, the vanguard circle shone brightly. Wyvon swallowed hard. "Stride, Royal Night Pirate King, Nightrose! Her skill! Counterblast and G Persona Blast, and call 5 rear-guards! Appear, Nightstorm, Negrorook, Negrobone, Seawall Banshee and Rough Seas Banshee! Hollow all five, and Nightrose goes Critical! (1★ > 2★) I'll put Rough Seas into soul and draw a card. Now, I'll start my attacks. Before that, Nightrose's AUTO skill. 5000 to Negrorook and Seawall! (9000 > 14000) (6000 > 11000) Negrorook attacks! Hollow, add 7000 power! (14000 > 21000)"
"Generation Guard! Retroactive Time Maiden, Uluru! Her skill, sending the Heal and History-maker to the bottom of the deck, and add 5000 Shield! (26000 > 31000)"
"Nightmist attacks! (11000)"
"Guard with Progress Second Dragon! (16000)"
"His skill activates! Counterblast one, and calling Colombard! Now, boosted by Seawall, Colombard attacks! (9000 > 20000) Colombard's skill, counterblast and call King Serpent. Serpent's skill, countercharge and soulcharge!"
"Guard with Bombard Hog! (21000)"
"Boosted by Negrobone, Serpent! (8000 > 15000)"
"That's such a lame column... Guard with Extend Magne! (16000)"
"Negrobone's skill! Counterblast and retire Serpent. Call Nightmist, and attack! (11000)"
"Lugal! (16000)"
"Skill, counterblast and call Negrorook as hollowed. The vanguard! (26000/2★)"
"No guard."
"Even though it has 2 crits?" Wyvon raised a brow.
"I'll leave it up to fate." Rino replied calmly.
"Triple drive!!" Wyvon flipped three cards over. "Please let one of these be a critical-!" Wyvon grit his teeth. (Skeleton Cannoneer, Seawall Banshee, Rampage Shade) A gasp of joy came from his mouth. "CRITICAL!"
"Three Damage then..." Rino growled. "So... If I really am strong... I'll bend fate in my way!" Snatching the top three cards of the deck, Rino splayed them out in the Damage Zone. (Extend Magne Dragon, Steam Maiden, Melem, Reform-calling Gear Eagle) "...how... how come I lost...?"
"I told you... actions shows a person's strength." Wyvon replied. Rino started to laugh maniacally, as the red markings under his eyes shone brightly. His current card, Destruction-calling Gear Eagle "Яeverse", on the vanguard circle started to disintegrate in front of Wyvon's eyes. The marks too, slowly faded, as Rino's evil, twisted eyes slowly shifted back into his soft, gentle ones. His laugh died down into quietness. Wyvon quivered in anticipation. Rino lifted his head.
"Wyvon...? Where are we-" Wyvon immediately hugged Rino tightly, tears welling in his eyes.
"You're finally back..."
"...Eh?" Rino looked at his confused. "What's up with you today?" He spoke. Wyvon broke the embrace, wiping the tears in his eyes. "It's... nothing." He smiled softly. "Hey, let's get crepes."
"Sure. You pay though."
"Fine by me."

Opening the apartment door, Ayaza entered his room.
"Well, here's my humble ho...me..." He looked hasty.
"Oh, you never told me you had a twin!" Aya said in surprise.
"Either we're seeing things or you forgot who he is." Ayaza sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"What was his name again?"
"Where's your Rabbit Mask, Ayato?" Ayaza glared at him.
"I was here to talk to you Ayaza. But first..." Ayato glanced at Aya. "I can kill two lovebirds with one knife."
