"So, whats it gonna be?" Maxios asked in a serious face.

"What do you mean... By that?" Yza asked, confused on what he meant.

"What do you want?" Maxios asked.

"What do... I want?" Yza asked surprised.

(Insert favourite vanguard theme song here)

"I want... I want to change!! Twin Drive!! (Starknight of Perfect Dust, Bashful Starstriker)" Yza said. "I didn't get crap..." He sighed in his mind.
"Damage check. (Flatbau) Heal trigger. Power to Macha (9000 > 14000) And healing one." Maxios smirked. "So you want to change?"
"Yes. I end." Yza sighed.

"Stand and draw. What do you want to change? Generation Stride!!" Maxios exclaimed.
"My approach to things for a start..." Yza said.
"Really? Is that what you wanna do? Supremacy Black Dragon, Aurageyser Dragon!!" Maxios exclaimed.
"Yes!!" Yza cried. "I always rush into head first and do idiotic crap..."
"Hmph. I'll show you a lil' something during this cardfight. With a boost from Fullbau, Macha attacks! (9000 > 14000) Skill, counterblast, superior call Dark Saga." Maxios smirked.
"No guard!!" Yza exclaimed. "Damage check! (Starknight of Perfect Dust)"
"Then my vanguard!! (26000 > 35000)" Maxios exclaimed.

A dragon knight in black armour with pink and blue that was riding a blue and black horse stomped foward towards the light blue dragon.

"Using the skill of Aurageyser. Counterblast, soulblast, retiring Dark Saga and Fullbau Diablo and G Persona blast!! I reveal the top 2 cards of my deck and for every grade 1 and lower, an extra 5000 power!! (Bloodstained Battle Knight, Dorint, Little Skull Witch, Nemain) Just one. An extra 5000 power and those cards go to hand. (35000 > 40000) Then using Fullbau Diablo's skill, I search my deck for my avatar, and superior call!!" Maxios smirked.
"No guard." Yza said.
"Triple drive!! (Arduous Battle Knight, Claudas, Whirlwind of Darkness, Vortimer "Diablo", Howl Owl) Draw trigger. Power to Blaster Dark and I draw. (11000 > 16000)" Maxios laughed.
"Damage check... (Stardust Medic) Heal trigger! Power to vanguard (11000 > 16000) and I heal one!" Yza sighed.
"Don't be too happy, I have an extra attack!! (16000)" Maxios smirked.
"Guard with Bashful!! (16000 > 21000)" Yza panted.
"You survived the wrath of Aurageyser, but next turn will be a lot more deadly~" Maxios teased. "I end."

"Stand and draw! I call Cargocarrier and with a boost from Carrier, Bashful goes in!! (10000 > 15000)" Yza exclaimed.
"Heh, I can guard with Dorint. (11000 > 16000)" Maxios smiled.
"Then my vanguard attacks!! (11000 > 19000)" Yza smirked.
"I perfect guard!!~" Maxios laughed happily.
"My bro is seriously strange... All of a sudden he's acting cheery when before he was drop dead serious? What are his true intentions anyways?! Why do I even care about this idiot thats apparently my brother? We're nothing alike, thats for sure..." Yza sighed in his head. "Twin drive!! (Knight of Second Dust, Stardust Charger, Cargocarrier) Draw. Power to Julia (10000 > 15000) and I draw." Yza snarled. "Then Julia goes in!! (15000 > 23000)"
Maxios yawned and said, "Guard with Angel and Grim. (11000 > 31000)"
"And I end..." Yza sighed.

"I hope you enjoyed the change of mood for a bit." Maxios smiled innocently.
"Huh?" Yza questioned.
"You didn't like the happiness I brought?" Maxios asked. Yza slammed his fist onto the table. "Oooh, fiesty."
"Alright, cut the crap!!" Yza snarled.
"Cut what crap?" Maxios asked with a slightly demonic smile.
"The games, stop it and answer this truthfully!! What are your true intentions, dammit!!" Yza exclaimed.
"You want to know the truth?" Maxios asked.
"Hell yeah!!" Yza exclaimed, narrowing his eyes.
"Then listen closely. Imagine the vanguard is you, and the rear-guards are your friends that are always by your side." Maxios said, pointing at the cards.
"Ok then...?" Yza questioned.
"Now... Are you ready?" Maxios asked.
"For what?" Yza asked.
"The truth." Maxios replied.
"Yeah!!" Yza said.
"Then... I'll start with... LIBERATING THE GENERATION ZONE!! Blackened wings, abyssal blade and corrupted soul, show me the path of darkness and despair!! Generation STRIDE!!" Maxios cried out. "Dark Dragon, Phantom Blaster "Diablo"." He smirked intensly, vanguard circle expanded a pitch black as it broke and shattered from the intense power. "Stride skill, retiring your friend behind you!"

Blaster Dark "Diablo" became a turqoise green dragon with a yellow chestpiece and red gems, black and turqoise green wings, a dragon head with blood red eyes that stared coldly at Shooting Star, a large two sided sword in one hand and a red, yellow and purple ambitious flame in the other as the ground shattered and broke from its intense entry, its black tail floated as Phantom floated in the air. Its red eyes shone as a large gust of wind knocked off Starblade Shooter, it cried out as it gained immense power.

"A stride skill with no cost... Incredible." Yza was blown away.
"Skill!! Counterblast and unflip. 10000 power, extra crit and a new found skill!! (26000 > 36000/1★ > 2★) Then, I call Claudas. with a boost, Macha attacks Julia!! (9000 > 14000)" Maxios declared.
"No guard." Yza said as he retired his rear-guard.
"Then with a boost, my avatar attacks Bashful!! (11000 > 20000)" Maxios exclaimed.
"No guard?" Yza replied.
"When I attacked your friends you didn't do anything to save them... Why?" Maxios asked. "Why didn't you save them from death when you could?!" He pointed at the 7 card hand.
"I... I... I don't know!!" Yza cried out.
"I thought you cared about others. I guess I was wrong..." Maxios said sadly.
"No, I do care!!" Yza cried.
"Then prove it too me... MY VANGUARD ATTACKS!! (36000 > 45000, 2★) Skill activated. Retiring three of my rear-guards, Charon and Claudas. Charon counts as two rear-guards! You have to retire two to guard! Whats it gonna be, sacrifice your friends to save you, or sacrifice yourself to save your friends? If I was in my position, I'd let my friends go. Its their fault for being with you in the first place, not yours. I would run. Run to save... Yourself." Maxios persuaded.
"YOU GUTLESS COWARD!!" Yza cried.
"You'll die if you don't. So don't call me gutless just because I want to continue to live!!" Maxios cried.
"You only care about yourself... Don't you?" Yza asked.
"Well I woulda saved my friends when I had the chance. You simply let them go when you shoulda saved them. That way, you would have only had to ditch two friends to save everyone else. But as you didn't protect your friends then, your in a situation where if you needed to let two go and you had only two... What would you do then?" Maxios asked. "There's nothing wrong to care about yourself."
"Its ok?" Yza asked.
"Sometimes you have to sacrifice some to do others." Maxios said to him.
"Then... Then I'll retire two to perfect guard!!" Yza exclaimed. Maxios laughed under his breath.

Phantom Blaster shot a fireball at the two comrades that surronded the dragon, as he flew forward and attacked it with his weapon. Suddenly a elf in light blue and gold armour with a large blue shield blocked it, the blade doing nothing against it.

"You fool!" Maxios laughed.
"Huh?" Yza asked.
"Your so easily persuaded and tricked!! I fooled you into getting rid of two of your friends!! Now look at you... Alone because of those brash actions. You listened to me and thats the conquesences. Fooled so easily. How many other times have you've been tricked? HOW MANY TIMES HAVE PEOPLE TRICKED YOU LIKE THAT?! Toyed with your emotions, toyed with your life when you don't even realise it?" Maxios asked. "Tell me."
"I..." Yza said. He didn't know what to think anymore. His brother was giving him advice that was hurtful, yet very truthful at the same time. "So... Maxios was only trying to make me realise the things I've done wrong? Was that his goals? Was that his true intentions?" Yza wondered. "I... Don't know... I don't remember. Your right all this time. I'm just a fool... Easily tricked. I've played into their hands this whole time."
"Thats what I've tried to get you to realise. If you don't start thinking about things and keep reacting the same way you always do, you'll never be able to move on in life. I screwed up, but now I want to change and help others! Just like I did with you." Maxios smiled as he said that calmly and softly to his saddened looking brother. "Triple drive. (Revenger, Undead Angel, Howl Owl, Howl Owl) Crit and two draws. Drawing two cards and all effects to vanguard. With that I end."

"Stand and draw." Yza said. "His many times did I though? I... I didn't care... I just hurted others and... I just... Gah..." He thought.
"You can change. You can prove things to others if you try. Right now, you could win on THIS turn. Whats it gonna be Yza? Whats the path you'll go on? The same path that lead you to this or a path I guided you to?" Maxios asked.
"Screw those paths, I'm not going to either. I'm gonna create my own and show everyone what I can do!!" Yza exclaimed.
"So a different path... A dream path?" Maxios asked.
"Hell yeah!" Yza smiled at his brother.
"I wish you the best of luck. HIT ME WITH ALL YOU GOT!!" Maxios smirked.
"I will!" Yza smiled. "Thanks bro... Your the best." "Alright, call Starblade! With a boost from Starblade, Shooting Star attacks!! (11000 > 19000) LIMIT BREAK!!" Yza cried, a light blue vanguard circle expanded ontop of the card and span fast as the cards in his damage zone glowed white. "Counterblast, discard and shuffling back 3 cards!! Looking at the top 3 and superior call!!" Yza said. He looked at the top 3 cards which were, Fullforce Startactian, Stardust Angel and Starblade Shooter. "Sweet, I call 2 and drop 1!"
"Heh, perfect guard!!" Maxios smirked.
"Twin drive!! (Shooting Star Dragon, Starknight of Perfect Dust) This is a joke right? TWO grade three's?!" Yza exclaimed.
"Tch, unlucky." Maxios laughed.
"Gak, Startactian go!! (9000 > 17000)" Yza exclaimed.
"I guard with Flatbau!! (11000 > 21000)" Maxios smirked.
"Grr... I... End." Yza sighed.

"Its game over for you." Maxios smirked.
"Huh?" Yza asked.
"Stand and draw..." Maxios smirked. "Liberating the Generation Zone!! Blackened wings, abyssal blade and corrupted soul, show me the path of darkness and despair!!"

(A/N I drew this manga adaptation of it at school, so sorry if its not that good quality, its from memory. It goes from left to right. If you can't tell whats happening, Blaster Dark "Diablo" has just been attacked, Maxios just liberated the generation zone. Blaster Dark feels a surge of power and attacks the backrow booster for his vanguard, kills it, turns into Phantom Blaster and Maxios and him announce who they are, as Phantom crushes the flames in his hands. Fyi, I'm still new to this and have created better now)

"Skill! Counterblast, unflip, and you know the drill! (26000 > 36000/1★ > 2★) Then I pull back Macha and call Deathspray along with Charon! Deathspray attacks!! (11000)" Maxios smirked.
"Guard with Bashful! (16000)" Yza exclaimed.
"Skill." Maxios smiled demonicly. Counterblast and retire Macha... I retire the other Starblade shooter!" Maxios did a finger gun at the card as Yza removed it and placed it into the drop zone. Maxios then did a pretend shot and then said, "Vanguard... ATTACK!! (36000 > 45000, 2★)" Maxios cried out.

A black dragon with a gun in his hand and green eyes shot a green mist at the dragon, where Bashful skillfully appeared as and kicked it away as Phantom was behind them. He clicked his head towards them, red eyes glowing as his body turned round slowly, he lunged back his hand with a weapon, then shot it foward, a gust of wind flying through, as it shattered Charon and Deathspray's bodies, killing them, making Shooting Star uneasy.

"Skill. Retiring Charon and Deathspray. RETIRE TWO TO GUARD!! You only have one so, may I proceed?" Maxios smiled wickedly.
"N-no g-g-guard..." Yza stammered at Maxios' grin, he never knew this side of his brother existed.
"Triple... Drive." He smirked, his eyes shone with a drive for more... (Grim Revenger, Revenger, Undead Angel, Grim Revenger) "TRIPLE CRITICAL!!" Maxios laughed.
"What the-?!" Yza was taken back by this.
"Power to Blaster Dark and critical to vanguard! (11000 > 26000) (2★ > 5★)" Maxios smiled innocently.
"What the hell, Maxios?!" He questioned in his mind, gritting his teeth. "Damage check... (Cowardly Starknight, Eric, Starknight of Third Dust, Starknight of Second Dust, Fullforce Startactian, Brave Starknight, Julia) No triggers... Good game." Yza managed to force a smile.
"Good game." Maxios said as he walked over and gave Yza a soft noogie.
"Oww!" Yza whimpered. Maxios chuckled lightly and let him go.
"Look, what you saw there was me proving something to you. You wanna change? Maybe take a path you dare not to!" Maxios laughed. "Go for anything and be anything you want!"
"Since when were you my father?!" Yza exclaimed.
"Ever since our dad died silly. I'm the closest thing to your father figure, don't forget that." Maxios smiled.
"What was dad like...?" Yza managed to squeak out.
"Nice guy... He helped me alot and loved us. I miss him." Maxios smiled.
"I don't remember crap about him..." Yza sighed. Maxios ruffled his hair.
"Its a shame he's gone... Dad woulda exuctued what I'd done much better." Maxios laughed. He undid his hair as it became shoulder lengthed, as he started to re-tie his mop.
"Yeah... Who even sent you here in the first place?" Yza asked.
"An old friend from the United Sanctuary. He wanted me to talk with you, so I did as he couldn't." Maxios smiled.
"Was that... The person Ayaza was talking about...?" Yza questioned.

Yza walked in.
"Where the crap have you've been?" Ayaza asked.
"Oh, I was fighting Zeon..." Yza laughed.
"Oh yeah, you two were pulled back afterschool, weren't you." Ayaza said. "I thought you'd swore never to be violent again."
"I did... But... My anger that time..." Yza sighed.
"Forget it. Someone came in today looking for you." Ayaza said. "Left this." He handed the 70 card deck.
"Who was it?" Yza asked.
"Kaiko Rimen, United Sanctuary branch manager." Ayaza said.
"Why did he want to talk to me?" Yza asked.
"No clue, but he thrashed me." Ayaza laughed dryly.
"Hmmm..." Yza hummed. "Lets just rebuild my deck with this!" He tried to change the conversation.
"Sure." Ayaza smiled at him.

"His name is Kaiko Rimen." Maxios said. "I'd pay him a visit if I were you."
"Kaiko... Rimen." Yza said. "Alright, thanks big bro."
"Don't mention it. Plus..." Maxios said as he collected his deck. "I want you to have this."
"But isn't this your deck?" Yza asked.
"I can rebuild it." Maxios chuckled.
"Thanks!" Yza smiled.
"Imma take my leave now... Later Yza!" He smiled.
"Bye, Maxios!" Yza laughed.
"I wish I had a brother as awesome at that..." Rino sighed. Yza screamed.
"What the heck?!" He exclaimed, putting up his arms and legs in defense.
"I was watching the whole time... That was amazing!" Rino exclaimed.
"Glad you think so...?" Yza asked.
"I'm guessing your gonna go to the United Sanctuary tommorow?" Rino asked.
"Hell yeah! And I might bring some old friends along!" Yza smiled.
"Hm?" Rino asked confused.
"Nevermind. I'll see you later!! Got some texting to do!" Yza smiled.
