Alright, so continue my pounding of Shadow Paladin content, I'm going to discuss a deck which was actually overshadowed by it's brother: Raging Form. While everyone was busting a nut over RFD, the less popular Dragruler didn't get his chance to shine, which is a shame because he is an extremely powerful card.

Now, if you've seen PBD (V-Series), what I'm about to show you might seem *very* familiar.

Revenger, Dragruler Phantom
[ACT](VC) Limit Break 4 (This ability is active if you have four or more damage):[Counter Blast (1) & Choose two of your rear-guards with "Revenger" in its card name, and retire them] This unit gets [Power]+10000 until end of turn, if the number of cards in your opponent's damage zone is four or less, choose one of your opponent's vanguard, and deal one damage. (Perform a damage check.)
[CONT](VC):If you have a card named "Illusionary Revenger, Mordred Phantom" in your soul, this unit gets [Power]+2000.
[CONT](VC/RC):Lord (If you have a unit without a same clan as this unit, this unit cannot attack)

Alright, so what's so good about this card? At first glance, RFD seems much more better due to the fact he is a restanding VG for very little investment and doesn't cost resources outside rear-guards. Now, RFD is fine, but let's look past that. It was released in BT15, so during the Break Ride-Limit Break 4 era. What's the thing that this card can do?

Deal damage. Now, remember how I said this can remind you of PBD (V-Series)? Well, the first skill *is not* a hard once per turn. It doesn't have the "You can only use this ability once per turn" tag at the end. What does this mean? If you had the resources, you can essentially do the skill five times and deal 5 damage to your opponent!

Now, of course, being realistic this is *not* the case. Far from it, actually. But what this *does* let you do in a LB4 heavy meta, is keep your opponent at 3 damage. Because of this, you don't really want to run criticals, since you want to deny the opponent their LB4, so instead you run draws and stands.

Why stands? We'll get back to them later. However, what you will do is keep your opponent at 3, but when you're sure you can win, you will use PBD's skill twice, shoot them up to 5 and kill them that turn. It may seem a little inconsistent, but the retire cost is only 2 Revenger rear-guards, and Mana can provide two units with a single call. This deck is very grind game centric, but when it pops off, it pops off very hard.

Now, going back to stands... why do we run them? Because of your main attackers.

Overcoming Revenger, Rukea
[AUTO](RC):When a grade 1 or less <Shadow Paladin> is placed on (RC), and if you have a vanguard with "Revenger" in its card name, this unit gets [Power]+3000 until end of turn.

Okay, before you go: "What the heck? This is your main attacker?" this is back in a time where SP only had Masquerade as a 12k beater. What you're gonna do is Break Ride Swagruler over Mordred, then using Mordred's BR, superior call a Rukea from deck, then call another from hand. Call down a bunch of G1 or less cards, have Swagruler retire them and ping damage. Because you play a grindy-conservative game where the opponent plays chicken as to not let you get your BR off (or they'll assume you're using RFD since that was the most popular SP deck at the time) you can easily gather resources to pop down and use.

Let's assume you called like 3 G1s this turn. Rukea will be a 18k attacker, plus a 7k booster, that is 25k. Not exactly 20k shield pushing, but it is 15k, which is worth. If you have Mordred's BR +5k, he becomes a 30k attacker, which does force 20k shield. Call 4 G1/G0, and he becomes a 28k/33k attacker, and that's forcing a lot of cards against someone at 5.

So the idea is you go for a burst turn, swing with both Rukea's first, then go in with Swagruler, and any stands you hit will make Rukea swing again, or any draws you hit will help recoup what you lost. This is essentially the Swagruler deck - and it is very effective. For the time, I believe it would've been meta if not for RFD which a lot of people preferred.

Yes, it seems a little inconsistent, but another factor you have to put into play is that you're using SP. You flip Judgebau, your opponent thinks "Oh, Raging Form" and they'll try to prevent you from getting your skill(s) off. Having rear-guards be guardians when you're at 3 is fine, since you're waiting to get yours pieces and the opponent to get you to 4 so you can Break Ride and burst them.

And even if you're not going for a burst turn, Dragruler is very powerful. Even though it's a Break Ride Era, getting your LB4 off first is just so much value since it made your VG 41k (since you used the skill twice and Mordred gives +10k) so it has a lot of pressure. Either hard guard and Rukea will be even hard to guard, or waste 2 cards stopping it.

If they have 4 PGs in hand that can stop all the attacks, it's fine since you've made them lose 8 cards in total. In the early game, having Judgebau be a +3 helps give you more resources, and Mana being a 1 card fodder is great. The deck is pretty damn consistent, and only got slept on cuz of RFD.

Now, since I didn't play back in those times, all the information here is from what I've read online. I believe a deck list would look something like this:

Judgebau + Swordbreaker for +3, Dark Bond to get more units (her + Mana can get 3 spaces filled) BDR+ Dorint package for CC, and the G3 is self explanatory.

Now, after this... what do I have planned for this book? Unit Chat. I probably will have monthly (at least I'll try too) updates for it, and otherwise this is the most content I've churned out for the book in a good while. I'm still dedicating my time to Z World, and I've been on Discord a lot more lately.

I may want to become better at art, but writing in itself is something much more simple to do - it satisfies the empty pit of creativeness inside of me, but my lazy ass doesn't wanna sit down at a table and draw, so I'll just take it slow. I'm not aiming anywhere high, I just like it.
