{2} Mom's Gone?

***

I sat in my room sitting on my bed and scrolling through my phone. I didn't really have much to do seeing as what happened yesterday. I sighed and turned off my phone then placing it beside of me. Staring at the ceiling, my mind started to wander off to places that I never wanted to go to again...

Flashback: {3rd POV}

Younger Hope and Skye were in Hope's room together. Hope walked over to the radio and turned it on. Skye took off her necklace while Hope took off her bracelet. They had been waiting to do this since earlier that week and were really excited. Hope and Skye sat in the middle of the white circle with a bowl in front of them. Hope rolled her sleeves up and snapped her fingers, lighting the candles in the room.

Putting the ingredients in the bowl, Hope and Skye grabbed each other's hand, "Demitte moi, demitte moi," They stood up and focused really hard on where they waned to appear. The sight they were greeted to was not what a little girls should see. They open their eyes when they heard a woman scream. They saw their Dad standing over the bloody body of a woman. He was covered in blood himself and the sight alone terrified them. "Dad!" Hope called out.

Klaus turned when he heard his one of daughter's voices and then screamed, "Get out!" The two focused again and then they disappeared from Klaus' vision.

{Present. 1st POV.}

Awhile later, I was still in my room. I had ended up taking a nap by accident and I woke up feeling very groggy. I sat up and looked in my mirror seeing my hair that was all over the place. I grabbed a brush and started to get out all of the knots. {A/N: I hate when this happens!} When I was done, I noticed the flowers on my desk were dying. I was confused at first until realization hit me.

I shot up out of bed and ran out of my room. I kept running and when I finally went to where I thought he was, the room was empty. The only person there was Aunt Freya, "Dad?" I called out. I sighed sadly when I got no reply and then went straight back to my room.

Awhile later, Hope had come into my room and asked if I wanted to go to see Declan. Not wanting to be cooped up in my room all day, said that I wanted to come. As soon as I changed out of my pajamas we went on our way. We got to Rousseau's and walked to the back to see our Dad about to bite Declan. Hope used her magic to throw him off, "Seriously, Dad?" She asked as Dad looked at us in shock.

"Did you seriously have to try to kill him?" I added on.

Awhile later, Dad was compelling Declan, "Looks like you need to go back to the butcher's immediately. You won't remember meeting me today."

Declan was frozen for a second or two before he noticed Hope and I, "Ah. Mornin', kids," We both smiled at him. "Um... I'll be back. I forgot to stop by the Shank. But saved you a bread pudding in the fridge. Your favorite." He took off his apron and then left us with our Dad.

"Go home, Girls." Dad said not even looking at us.

I looked at him in surprise and crossed my arms over my chest, "Are you seriously not even going to look at us? We need you dad, okay? Our mom is missing and how do you think we feel? We are scared and we need you. So for once, would you let us help?" I walked closer to him and, of course, the whispers got louder, but at this moment I could care less.

Dad took a step back, "We're too close. I can hear the whispers: you must, too."

Hope stepped forward too, "Let us help you find her."

"If you don't do as I say, I'll have Freya bind you two to the compound with a spell," He warned us making me lose any hope of being able to help. "I don't want it to come to that. Go home." He walked passed us and the two of us stared after him.

All I wanted was to clear my head and not think about anything whatsoever. My plans were ruined when I ended up finding Roman, who definitely wasn't here before, looking around. I looked at him in confusion, "What are you doing here?" Roman turned to me and looked a little panicked. Before he could reply, I asked, "Better question: how did you get here?"

Hope walked into the room and looked between her crush and I. "Oh. uh... you weren't in my room- I thought you left." She said talking to Roman.

I turned around and started walking out of the door, but stopped and placed a hand on my sister's shoulder, "Good luck trying to hide him. Knowing our family, they will know he's here at one point and then possibly try to kill him," I turned to Roman who looked a little scared at this point, "Good luck." I turned back around to see Hope giving me an annoyed glare and I smirked, walking out of the room.

I was laying on my bed while reading a book when I heard my father calling out for my sister. I placed my book down beside of me and walked out to see what was going on. I walked to where I heard voices to see my sister and father staring at each other. The whispers were starting up, but I kept my focus on the conversation. "Please tell me it isn't true. What have you done with your mother?" Dad asked my twin.

I inhaled loudly alerting them of my presence, "It was me." They both looked at me with shocked expressions. Hope was starting to look angry and she walked out of the room. Her shoulder hit mine as she walked pass me. I should've known that she would react that way. I walked over to the couch and sat down.

Dad turned to face me, "Do you have any idea what you've done?"

"I wanted you back here seeing as we haven't talked since Hope and I were nine. It would take something huge to bring you back." I replied.

"So you had your little hybrid friend attack your mother?" Dad asked me.

"If you want to blame someone then blame me. Henry only did what I told him to do. Also, I wouldn't say that Henry 'attacked' her seeing as Mom is completely fine. In a really, really nice coffin, asleep," Dad gave me a look and I said, "Don't give me that look, okay? I made a sleeping spell and cloaked her with it."

"Oh, well, in that case, I've never been prouder," He said sarcastically. "Where is she?"

"And why should I tell you?" I inquired. I stood up from the couch crossing my arms over my chest. "As soon as I do, you're just going to leave and Hope and I will be fatherless again."

He was trying to make me see reason, but it honestly wasn't working, "Skye, you and your sister are in danger when we are in proximity. I know you feel that," I looked down and the flowers on the table started to slowly die. A snake slithered out and away from us. "The dark magic inside us manifests itself in ugly ways. We could be putting others in danger, too. The whole city!"

"I don't care!" I shouted.

"This is not a debate, Skye!" Dad yelled back at me. He turned around and walked toward the doors, "The little girl I knew would never have dreamed up a scheme like this."

"Oh, really! Well, I am just so sorry to disappoint you then because that little girl that you knew is gone. She also never read your memoirs," He turned back around to face me and I started to walk closer to him, "You compelled a woman by the name of Camille O'Connell, the woman you named me after," Yep... My full name was Skye Camille Mikaelson. "To write your life story. When I read it, I was surprised to find out that it was about a guy who used his family as leverage and put them in coffins."

The whispers grew louder as he walked toward me, "So you've studied my old tricks. Did you learn this one?" Dad suddenly grabbed me and he went into my mind. "She's at St. Anne's."

I pushed him away from me, "Get out of my head!"

"You could die, Skye. Just by standing here, I could be destroying you," I tried to say something, but I couldn't. "I'll ask your mother to take it easy on you. Okay? Goodbye, Skye."

I held my hand up and used my magic to close the doors, "Well... it looks like I know some tricks of my own."

***

I followed behind my father as we walked downstairs, "All the time when we were younger, you would call, and write letters. Then you stopped, but why? Why did you suddenly stop?"

"You know why." Dad said heading to the other doors.

"I'm so sorry. Were we supposed to knock before entering an astral plane and then interrupting your murder orgy?" I questioned. He tried to open the doors, but they wouldn't budge.

Dad sucked in a breath, "You and your sister came to me that night because cards and letters weren't enough. I stopped them for both of your own goods."

I looked at him with a slightly surprised face, "You think that you know what's in our best interest, Dad? Stories would get passed around all the time at school about this crazy original dropping bodies left and right. While Hope and I had to sit there like the quiet, good little girls we are and listen to it. When all we want to do is scream and yell about it."

"Well, welcome to the bloody party!" Dad yelled. It was a little later and I was sitting on one of the couches. It was silent until Dad said, "I was protecting both you and your sister when I left. The horror in your eyes that night when you girls saw me is... burned into my memory."

I inhaled sharply, "When my sister and I were nine, we saw this... thing. Who looked like the dad we knew, but he was't," The memories were flooding back and I shook my head. "He was this vicious monster, someone we didn't even recognize when we looked at him. Everything about you was different. Down to the way you looked at us. You looked at us like we weren't even your daughters," Tears started falling down my cheeks. "You taught us how to mix paints, and said we were princesses. Your princesses. And we waited for you to explain yourself, or talk to us, or even tell us that you loved us!" I stood up from the couch. "But you never did! Not one phone call for five years! Not to apologize for what we saw or anything! You never showed."

Dad looked away for a second before turning back, "In my experience, fathers causes pain. Whether by their presence or their absence,  there's a certain type of ruin that only a father can... can leave behind. And you... you were such a sweet little girl," He had a small smile on his face before it fell. "Perhaps I was always bound to leave you broken."

"You actually think that I'm broken?" I asked him. Is that really what he thought? I wiped the tears away, "Well, Dad, maybe you're right. Maybe that little girl you miss so much would be a lot better off if she'd never loved you at all. Maybe she would've been better off not even knowing you," I opened the doors, "You can go now."

"Skye, please..." Dad tried to talk to me, but I only looked away from him. I started to hear hissing and I looked passed Dad to see snakes appearing out of nowhere. Then, Dad finally left.

I walked to where I knew Marcel would be with Henry. Surely enough, the two of them were both there. Marcel was making a prison out of bricks for Henry while the boy panted. The hunger was getting to him and I instantly started to feel bad. Marcel placed down a brick beside of him, "Not the best time for a visit, but I'll take what I can get."

"You are such a jerk for getting me busted," I smiled as we hugged. When we let go, I walked over to Henry, "I am so sorry, Henry. Hope and I never meant for this to happen. You have to do what I say, remember?" Henry nodded. "Okay, so, you're going to be calm now. When you get out, Hope and I will be right here, and we'll all be friends. If you ever get scared, you'll feel peace if you would just close your eyes and sing."

***

Marcel and I were walking around the compound talking. I haven't seen him in forever and it was nice to have someone to talk to. Hope was now mad at me, but I didn't really blame her. I would be mad if she did what I did. "That was really nice, what you did for Henry." Marcel said to me.

"I'm not mean all of the time, I can be nice when I want to be," We both laughed. This was an inside joke that we had. When I was at school, I would act sarcastic and like I didn't care one bit (which is why most people said I was "mean") when deep down I actually did. My mood then dropped a little, "I guess that means I can give myself a point."

"What?" Marcel asked confusedly.

"It's this really weird thing Hope and I would do when we were little," We used this a lot when we were younger. Hope stopped doing it, but I didn't, "We got a point if we did something nice or follow the rules. If either of us had a bad thought, or lose our temper, or if I got in a fight with Hope or she got in a fight with me then we would lose a point. Hope might've stopped doing it, but I haven't."

Marcel shook his head, "Oh, honey, you can't put that kind of pressure on yourself."

I took a deep breath, "Mine and Hope's family sacrificed everything to save us from the Hollows. They can't even be close to one another without something bad happening. We're supposed to be worth it, aren't we? I-I'm supposed to be better person than I am now. My dad thinks that I am broken. And I'm getting the feeling that, um, t-that he doesn't love me anymore. Hope is also mad at me right now because of what I did and she will probably never forgive me." I sniffled.

Marcel sighed, "Hey. He may not have the words to tell you, but no matter what, your dad will love the very worst of you until the oceans are dust. And Hope will forgive you eventually, you just have to give her a little more time. Both you and Hope are worth every sacrifice," I laughed a little. "And... you are good. Period. Show me anybody who says otherwise, I'll eat 'em."

I laughed and Marcel hugged me, "Oh, I'm okay. You don't have to..."

"No, this hug isn't for you. It's for me. I kind of needed it." Marcel said.

I walked to Hope's room to find her sitting on her bed. I hesitantly knocked on the door and she turned. When she saw who it was, she turned away and I sighed. "U-um... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done what I did, I just-"

Hope turned to face me, "Do you even know why I'm mad?" I didn't reply and only looked down at my feet. "I'm mad because you didn't tell me what you were doing," I looked up at her confusedly. "We are supposed to help each other. You didn't have to go and do that alone. I would've helped you."

"I just thought that you would be completely against i-" I was cut off.

"Skye, I know how sad you are whenever someone mentions anything about Dad. Or whenever Father's Day would come around and we didn't have anyone to give anything to. I would've helped you because it would have made you happy. You are my sister and all I ever want is for you to be happy." Hope was crying by now and so was I.

"I actually did it for you. I could've used a different method than using Mom, but it was the only thing that I could think of," I was literally trying to think of another idea, but I couldn't come up with anything else. "I did it because you were sad that we never got to have a father who did any of the stuff a father does. You always looked so sad when the parents would come visit their kids at school and only Mom showed up. I just wanted to make you happy too." Hope finally reached out and hugged me tightly. I hugged her back and I just wanted this moment to last forever.

Dad was back and he had a sad look on his face. This made me fear the worst had happened. What could've happened? "Hope, Skye, we went to the church to get your mother. She wasn't there." Those were the only words I needed to hear to make my world come crashing down.

I was in shock as Hope asked, "What?"

I didn't want to believe it, "What do you mean? I protected her. I wrote the perfect cloaking spell, I kept her safe. I... I don't understand. The-the coffin was just empty? Are you sure that she wasn't there? I mean-" I was cut off.

Dad had a devastated look on his face, "The coffin was destroyed. Whatever happened to your mother didn't happen without a fight," Hope looked like she was in shock and I was completely freaking out. This was all my fault. Anything could've happened to her and it would be my fault. "Look I know it wasn't your intention for someone to get hurt. I know you did this because I left you with no choice. Sweethearts, look at me," Dad put his hands on our shoulders to calm us down. "This... this is my fault. I'm gonna fix it. I've already spoken to Alaric. You'll both go back to Mystic Falls tonight. I need to know that you're both safe," Hope started to cough making Dad and I worried, "What is it?" Hope fell to her knees. "Hope?"

I was shocked to find a snake come out of Hope's mouth, "Oh, my god."

Hope managed to get out, "Go, go."

"You need to get out of here!" I said to Dad. I had a hold on Hope's arm and I turned to look at him with tears in my eyes. I started to feel a little sick as well now.

"I'll find your mother. And I swear I'll return her to the two of you. I love you, girls." Dad zoomed off and then the sickness went away. The pain of what we found out still lingered.

Hope and I packed our stuff and we were walking to Roman's car. He told us, or he told Hope, that he would take us back to school. We wanted to stay here and help, but Dad wanted us to go back to school. Hope smiled at Roman as he took our stuff, "Hey, thank's for the ride." Hope said.

"Oh. Sure." He said back. I decided to get on my phone and tune out the conversation. I remembered the phone number in my pocket. I fished it out and typed the number into my phone then started a text conversation. 'Hey. It's Skye.' I sent it to him.

A second later, he sent, 'Oh, hey. What's up?'

'Nothing, really. Some stuff came up so I was just now able to text you.' I sent back.

'That's okay. Is everything alright?' He asked.

I hesitated for a moment before sending, 'Yeah.' I suddenly heard screaming so I quickly told him that I had to go. Roman, Hope, and I all ran into the direction of the screaming. When we got there, we were greeted with the sight of Henry hanging from one of the balconies with a hole in his chest. I brought my hand to cover my mouth in shock.

"Oh, my god. Henry." Hope said in shock. Henry was now dead...
