{1} "Dad?"

***

{...7 years later. 1st POV}

My twin sister, Hope, and Myself stood in the hallway waiting for something. Or to be exact, someone. We heard footsteps so we stepped out and looked around for anyone watching. No one was so we continued towards Henry. I tapped him on the shoulder making him jump and towards us. "You have the money?" I asked him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the cash. I grabbed it out of his hands and stuffed it in my pocket.

"We're not gonna ask where you got this," Hope commented. "Remember, one now, one after," Hope handed him two vials of blood. It was basically just our blood mixed together. Henry nodded and, Hope and I looked at him with uncertainty. "You sure about this, Henry?" Hope questioned.

Henry nodded, "Yes."

"Okay," I went to walk away, but I stopped. "And Henry," Henry turned his attention to me. "Be discreet, please." My twin and I walked past him and acted like it never happened.

Hope had already made it back to our room, but I decided to go to the library to read a book. When I got done, I got up and was walking back to our room. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and I accidentally bumped into someone. Thankfully, neither one of us fell. "I'm sorry." I said to the person.

"It's okay. I didn't look where I was going." I looked up to see a handsome boy with brown hair and green eyes. He looked to be about my age and he really was very good-looking. No, Skye! Snap out of it! Just act natural.

"I'm Skye Marshall." I said.

"Liam. Liam Reyes," Liam looked at the clock on the wall and then said, "Well, I have to get going. It was really nice meeting you. I'll see you later, I guess."

As Liam was walking away, I said, "Yeah." He turned the corner and was gone. I shook my head to snap myself out of my trance and then continued on my way to my room.

***

Hope was sitting at her desk doing her homework, from what it looks like, and I sat on my bed drawing. We were both brought out of our thoughts when someone knocked on the door. "Come in," Hope called out. The door opened to reveal Mr. Williams standing there, "Mr. Williams. What's up?"

"Mr. Saltzman wants to see you two. It's about Henry Benoit." Mr. Williams said. In that moment, Hope and I knew exactly what happened. Serously, Henry? I said be discreet.

"Is, um, Mr. Saltzman calling our mom?" Hope asked crossing her arms over her chest.

Mr. Williams nodded, "That, and he thinks your dad should know what you've been up to."

I scoffed, "Good luck with that."

Mr. Williams turned to leave, "Pack your bags, Hope, Skye. You're going home." Then he left us to be alone with our thoughts.

"Mom is definitely going to kill us." I said closing my sketch book.

"It was your idea." Hope commented.

"It might've been my idea, but you agreed to it. You're just as much to blame as I am." After I said that, we both started packing out stuff.

***

I sat in a chair outside Mr. Saltzman's office with Hope. I was staring off into space, but was rudely brought back down by a group of boys talking rather loudly. "Later, dude." One of the guys said. Roman, who was apart of their group, nodded and suddenly noticed us. Hope acted like she wasn't staring making me smirk. My sister has always had a little bit of a crush on him and I just love to tease her about it.

"You two going somewhere?" Roman asked us.

Before I could get the chance to embarrass my sister, Hope spoke before I could, "Home. We, uh, we got suspended."

Roman laughed softly, "Hope and Skye Marshall got suspended?" Neither Hope nor I said anything. "Cool." Roman said and then he walked away.

I turned to Hope with a smirk, "You like him." I said in a tone that I knew she hated.

She hit my arm looking to see if he heard me, "I do not."

"Oh rea-" I was cut off by a voice that sounded very familiar making me freeze.

"Oh, hey," I looked up to see Liam. Oh, no... "I see you got suspended."

"Uh, yeah." I nodded.

"Well, if you ever wanted to talk," He handed me a slip of paper. "This is my number." I took the paper and he walked away. I knew that Hope was looking at me and I knew what she was going to say.

"You have a crush." Hope said. I heard someone sit down beside of me and sigh.

I turned and saw that it was Henry, "Sorry I got you guys in trouble."

Hope turned to look at Henry, "Skye said 'be discreet.' What part of jumping out of a tower is discreet?"

"I had to make sure it would work. If I only hurt myself, then I would've just healed." Henry replied.

Hope shook her head at his response, "Right. 'Cause no one's ever died peacefully from sleeping pills."

Henry turned away from us, "I'm not a person things go right for. You ever seen a werewolf with no pecs who quotes E. E. Cummings?" Neither one of us answered and it was silent for a moment. "I can already tell I'm getting stronger. You know how good it will be not to have to take crap from anybody?"

I looked at him a little surprised, "Are you serious? You're a hybrid now, Henry. Oh, yeah, you're this big strong hybrid now, but they're still going to hate you for being different."

"I don't think that you thought this through, Henry." Hope shook her head again.

"Neither of you wouldn't understand." Henry said.

"Oh, really?" Hope asked. "Us? We wouldn't understand?" Hope laughed.

Henry leaned towards us and whispered, "That's different. None of the students know you're Klaus Mikaelson's daughter."

"Why would Lisina even tell you? You, Hope, and I aren't even friends." I remarked.

"Your mom's our alpha. All the Crescent Wolves know." Henry stated.

Hope sat up straighter, "And so will everyone at school when they start asking how you survived a swan dive out of the memorial library."

"Your dad's not going to kill me from getting you two suspended, is he?" Henry questioned us worriedly.

I rolled my eyes at him, "How would we know? He isn't even around. It's not like he could bother being a dad."

Our mom came and picked us up from school. It was completely silent in the car which was torture in itself. No one bothered to say anything, but I could feel our Mom's disappointment from my place in the backseat. When we got to the compound, Hope decided to speak up, "Can you just yell at us already? Seven hours of hostile silence is punishment enough."

Mom stopped and turned to the both of us, "The whole point of sending you two to that school and calling you Hope and Skye Marshall was so that you wouldn't draw attention to yourselves, to keep you safe. Why? Why did you do it? What could you have possibly needed the money for?"

"That's our business." I said.

Mom put her hand on her hip, "And selling your blood is mine. You had no right."

"You're being a hypocrite. You're the one that taught me 'my body, my choice.' Well, my blood, my choice." Hope said trying to rationalize it. Mom was obviously not having it though.

Mom walked closer to us, "You are not just anybody, girls. Do you even understand what you have done?"

"Henry came to us." Hope stated.

"And you should've said no," Before Hope or myself could say anything, Mom continued, "Hope, Henry was already a kid who was struggling to fit in, and now... he's gonna be only one of three hybrids in the world, and seen as a threat to everyone in the city. You have no idea what you've done. You cannot create something without taking responsibility for it."

"And what are you gonna do, huh?" I crossed my arms over my chest. "Are you gonna lock us up? Are you gonna ground us? We are witches, you know? We can get ourselves out."

"And I am your mother- which means tomorrow I'm gonna have to clean up the mess you've made before it gets worse." Mom turned on her heel and left us standing there.

***

Hope and I walked through the compound looking down at Hope's phone. We were FaceTiming with our Uncle Kol and, surprisingly, Davina was nowhere to be seen. I was actually wanting to talk to her today. "How are my little ne'er-do-wells?" Uncle Kol asked us.

"We've been better. How's Davina?" Hope questioned as we walked down the stairs.

"My darling wife is gorging on papaya right now. You know, Belize is beautiful this time of year. You should visit." Uncle Kol suggested.

"We would really love to. Trust me. But..." I trailed off.

Hope continued, "We're grounded."

"Grounded? Can't ground a witch, let alone my favorite nieces." Uncle Kol said. I laughed a little, we were literally his only nieces.

"That's what Skye said." Hope smiled.

"And, of course, Mom wasn't amused." My smile faded a little.

"Well, I'm sure it will all blow over by Mardi Gras." Uncle Kol shook his head.

"We... We didn't think it was such a big deal at the time, but now that its stirred up so much trouble, I-I fell kind of bad." Hope said. I nodded in agreement seeing as I was starting to feel kind of guilty.

"Darling, you can't get your knickers in a knot every time you have a little kerfuffle. You'll never have a moment of pleasure. And, I, for one, thought you showed some real entrepreneurial spirit." Uncle Kol commented.

Hope and I laughed, "Yeah, that's us, your friendly, neighborhood blood dealers."

"I'm sure you've noticed by now that the best people are black sheep." Uncle Kol stated.

"Like our dad?" I asked clearly showing interest.

"I was referring to me," He smiled. "Niklaus is in a league of his own."

"Have you seen him lately?" I inquired.

"Well, thankfully for you, no. Don't worry. Sooner or later, something will blow up in New Orleans. Some crisis or other always brings us back." Uncle Kol replied. I suddenly got an idea and it could either be a good one or a bad one.

I nodded, "Okay." After awhile more of talking with him, we finally hung up. I told Hope that I was going to my room, I actually ended up going to the library first and got distracted with a good book.

***

I walked into my room and saw my Mom standing there. She held up my passport which made me freeze. Hope and I had used the money for passports, I guess Mom found my first. I now owe Hope ten dollars because we made a bet to see whose passport Mom would find first. I obviously lost. "Going somewhere? Is that what you two needed the money for?" Mom asked.

"What? You really don't trust me so you decide to rummage through my room?" I questioned.

I took the passport out of Mom's hands and she replied, "For laundry. Where were you going? I'm assuming your sister has one too."

I didn't want to rat out Hope so I said the first thing that came to mind, "I met this guy online. He lives in London and is in a band. He keeps saying that he is 17, but he seems like he's 25. And no, Hope doesn't have one. She just helped get the money to buy it."

Mom rolled her eyes at my response, "You don't have to lie, I found Hope's too," Ha! She owes me ten dollars. "I already talked to her. She told me you two wanted to see your dad."

"I know that it's stupid, okay?" I sat down on the bed and Mom sat down beside of me. "He obviously doesn't care seeing as he hasn't tried to contact us, but I-I just thought..," I trailed off. "Maybe if we were all in the same place for even a little while..."

Mom shook her head, "It's not stupid. He loves you. But he knows that being near you puts you in danger."

"A phone call wouldn't. Just one." I said holding up one finger.

Mom sighed, "Look, I... I really hope one day that you'll talk in person. I do. But until then, just... try not to judge him too harshly."

I scoffed making Mom confused, "I can't judge my deadbeat of a dad, but you can judge us?"

"I don't judge you or Hope; I judge your actions. I'm your mom. I love you, and I would forgive you for anything. But that's not... that's not a blank check for bad behavior." Mom said in a tone of reason.

"I did one thing." I stated.

Mom stared at me with a 'really?' look, "Let's not forget the time you blew up your bed."

I turned to her, "That was an accident. Hope was getting me really mad and my magic got a bit out of control."

Mom looked at me amused, "A bit?"

"Okay... a lot. To be fair, I already suffered a lot seeing as I had no bed for a day." I replied.

Before Mom could say anything, we heard a familiar voice from outside, "Hope! Skye!" Mom and I rushed out of my room. Hope ran over to us and we were shocked at the sight we saw. Henry was covered in blood on one side of his mouth and he was holding a dead vampire girl in his arms. "I... I made a mistake."

***

Hope was standing by the door in her bedroom listening to the conversation outside. I just laid on the bed not wanting to hear anything. Whoever said that your actions have consequences were definitely right. If only I realized that sooner. "I didn't even know that girl." Henry said his voice cracking. He was pacing back and forth like a madman (A/N: with a blue box).

"I can't hear." Hope said.

"She just bumped into me, and I-I just... I got so angry," Hope sighed and turned around to face him. "They-they want... they want to kill me, huh?"

I sat up and turned to face him, "For God's sake, Henry, just calm down. Feel better."

Henry instantly calmed down and just sat on the bed, "Okay. That's-that's weird. You... you said 'feel better,' and I actually feel better."

Hope smiled, "Because our blood made you a hybrid, so... you're sired to us."

"I have to do what you both say?" Henry asked.

"Pretty much, but don't worry, We... believe in personal anatomy," Hope said. Henry chuckled softly. "But for now, stay here."

***

Hope and I sat in the chairs placed in the middle of the compound. Hope was sketching and I was simply staring off into space. What I normally do when I'm bored out of my mind. I heard footsteps so I looked up to see Aunt Freya, "Hey, jailbirds."

"Hey." Hope and I said.

Aunt Freya sat down in a chair across from us, "I've got some news about me and Keelin. Where's your mom?"

"I have no idea." I replied looking around the huge compound.

"She said she'd only be gone for a few minutes, but then she never came back." Hope continued.

"Where'd she go?" Aunt Freya asked.

"Outside to make a call," Hope responded. She looked past Aunt Freya when something caught her attention. I turned to see what she was looking at  to see the water in the fountain was now blood. "Auntie Freya?"

***

"Someone found this in the street." Aunt Freya said. She had a minute or two after we noticed the blood to look for Mom. She obviously didn't find her because in her hands was Mom's cracked phone. I take it from her hands and it started to ring. I looked down at the name and it said... Klaus Mikaelson.

I answered it, "U-um, Dad?" Hope looked surprised when I said that.

"I was looking for your mother." He said. I closed my eyes, it had been so long since I heard his voice.

"Yeah, so are we. Um... We don't know where she is. She's missing." I told him.

"I'm on my way." He hung up and I left out a breath of air.
