She had been there for almost half an hour already, just leaning on the railing as she stared out at the city. People had come and gone, but she hadn't left her spot.
He hadn't either.
Yoongi didn't know what it was about her that caught his eye. She was just another tourist that came to see the city. Still, he couldn't help but stare. Her dark wavy locks were pulled up into a loose ponytail, strands of hair falling in front of her face and making her look so carefree.
The way she was distracted, Yoongi couldn't bear to disrupt her peace. He just wanted to go up to her and say Hi or offer her a tour around town. She didn't look like the kind to join group tours. More of a free spirit, that girl was.
She turned her head, catching his gaze on her. The corners of her mouth curved into a smile before she turned back to the view.
Yoongi felt a flutter in his chest when he realized he had been caught. It was a few minuted later and some other tourists had already left. She was still there, though. Just standing there by the railing.
Was she waiting for someone? She didn't look worried at all, just content.
Yoongi wondered just who this girl was. He wanted to get to know her. His interest in the girl made him move his feet towards her. She had already noticed him, might as well just go up to her and say something.
"Annyeong," he greeted. He was hoping she would understand him, considering she wasn't Korean.
She smiled back at him. "Annyeong," she replied.
"I am Yoongi. Min Yoongi. Uh, Yoongi Min," he introduced himself, holding out a hand to shake hers.
She took his hand, her grip firm. "Leila."
He raised an eyebrow. "No last name?"
"Just Leila," she anwered with a shrug. "For now."
"Mysterious girl," he commented, earning a laugh from her.
"I try to be." There was a sparkle in her eye and he found himself getting lost.
Her eyes were brown, a dark brown that was almost black. It was mesmerizing.
All he had learned was her name, a sharp ringing tone cutting into their conversation.
Yoongi pulled out the phone from his pocket, excusing himself before answering the call.
"Yah, why did you call?"
"Hyung, are you busy later?" Jimin asked.
Yoongi looked back at the girl, sending her an apologetic smile before turning around to speak to his friend. "I don't think so. Why?"
"We're planning to go out. Celebrate Jin hyung's birthday," Jimin informed him. "Will you come?"
"Of course," he replied. "I have to hang up now."
"Why hyung? Was I interrupting something?"
Yoongi turned around to face the girl, but she had disappeared. He looked from side to side. Surely she couldn't have gone already. Except she had just vanished.
She hadn't just been his imagination, right?
He shook his head but then remembered Jimin couldn't see him. "Nope, you weren't interrupting anything," he muttered. He hung up, stuffing the phone in his pocket.
Where did she go?
He shook his head again, trying to get the image of her out of his mind. The girl, Leila, was real. He just knew she was.
With a sigh, he decided to forget about the girl's rude disappearance and then head back home.
Hours later, his friends had called him and told him where they would meet up.
The lights were dim and the upbeat music played throughout the night club. It wasn't too crowded inside but the place was popular enough for a good amount of customers.
Seokjin and the others were already inside when Yoongi arrived. The latter made his way to the table where his friends sat, ordering a beer from one of the waiters passing by.
"We didn't think you would make it," one of his friends, Hoseok, said. "You're late, by the way."
Yoongi just shrugged at his friend's comment. He sat down and across from him sat the youngest in their group of friends. Jungkook greeted his hyung and the latter nodded in greeting.
"Why meet up here?" Yoongi asked. If he had any choice in the meeting place then they would all be back at his apartment or at the bowling alley they always hung out at.
It was Jimin who replied. "For a change in scenery," he said with a shrug.
Yoongi just nodded, ordering a drink from one of the waiters that passed by. Everyone was laughing at a joke someone told and even he snickered when he thought it was funny.
Around thirty minutes had passed and it was just him, Namjoon and Jin left at the tables. The others had gotten up and left for the dance floor. Those four had always been up for some dancing, while he himself wasn't much of a fan of it. He was a decent dancer though, especially when compared to the other two who had been left behind.
Yoongi excused himself from the table as the two started playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. He hadn't wanted to join in, nor did he want to be the awkward third wheel sitting in between them.
He got up and walked to the bar. The bartender asked for his order and he went for a shot of vodka. Other customers surrounded the counter, chatting and flirting the night away.
He received his drink and downed it in a single gulp. Just as he had set down the glass, someone had walked over and stood next to him.
"Can I get a tequila, please?" the girl called to the bartender. She waited, fixing her hair to one side.
Yoongi thought there was something familiar about her, though he didn't realize what until she turned her head to his ditection.
"What?" she asked, maybe confused or unnerved as to why a stranger was staring at her.
He smiled when he remembered. "We meet before," he muttered in an attempt at English, "At Namsan Tower."
Her lips curled up into a smile. "Oh yeah. I remember you. Yoongi, is it?"
He nodded, smiling back at her. "And your name? Leila?"
"Yes, that's my name." She giggled, maybe finding his English amusing.
Yoongi frowned. "Sorry. My english is not good," he told her.
She nodded. "It's fine. I can speak a little Korean." Her second sentence was spoken in a slow yet understandable Korean. The girl's pronunciation had been a bit off but otherwise Yoongi was impressed.
This girl was really something, he thought. He had only just met her but there was something about her that was pulling him in.
He wouldn't even question why he was being pulled in.
