🐾🧟♂️🧟♀️9. Everyone Knows Now.🧟♀️🧟♂️🐾
After I had managed to calm down, Daryl angrily returned to the tent, making Carol reluctantly leave. He was panting in anger as he cleaned some of his arrows to calm himself down. I take a deep breath as I notice his bloody hands. Remembering how Rick and Glenn came back with Hershel and some boy. They had Daryl interrogate him.
"Any luck?" I ask quietly, my voice weak from my crying earlier.
"Nope." He grunts, nearly breaking an arrow in anger.
"Let me talk to him. Maybe I'll have some luck." I offer. He glares at me for a second, thinking it over before reluctantly sighing and nodding.
He knew I'd have better luck trying to gain the boy's trust and finding things out that way. He kissed my head as I walked into the shed with Evelyn in my arms. When Rick heard that I was going into the shed with Evelyn, he tried so hard to forbid me, but it was unsuccessful as I went in anyways.
"Hi. My names Rosie, this is my baby girl, Evelyn, whats your name?" I introduce as I sit down on the dirt covered ground, carefully supporting Evelyn on my chest. The boy looks up, eyes wide in fear.
"R-Randall, ma'am." He stutters softly, eyes not leaving mine.
"Is something wrong, Randall?" I ask softly, Evelyn cooing slightly.
"If my group comes, your baby isn't gonna last a day." He mumbles.
"What will your group do if they come, Randall?" I ask him.
He then takes this time to explain what happened in his group, 'The Living'. He explains what he witnessed when his group met a father and his two daughters. He shied away as he witnessed my eyes shift angrily to blood red. He seemed terrified and my eyes softened. He didn't seem all that bad. He explained his life before this, how he knew Maggie and how he lost his mother and brother. Right then, I wanted to help him and take him in under my wing. I knew it was somewhat due to my maternal hormones, but it was something else too. How much he reminded me, of myself. How I lost my mother and older brother when I was young. Way younger than him. He wasn't bad, just surrounded by bad people. I stand up and walk out of the shed, stomping my way to Shane, Daryl and Rick.
"He is not to be harmed in any way. He is innocent, even if his group is not. I will vouch for him and take him under my wing." I tell them. Rick and Daryl shared a knowing look as Shane just got angry. "His group..." I then explain what Randall told me, and Rick nodded when I was finished.
"Ok, Rosie. We'll give it a trial run, see how he does with the others, and maybe he can give us more information." Rick and Daryl go into the shed as Shane storms off. They help Randall out and to me.
"Randall, I am vouching for you and will take you under my wing. You can stay here, but you have to help out, when you are able to, and you have to try to give us more information in exchange for a place here."
"Yes ma'am." He nods nervously and I pat his cheek as I hold Evelyn.
"How old are you, Randall?" I ask him curiously as I walk on the other side of Daryl as him and Rick help Randal to the RV.
"I'm 15, ma'am." (Changed it.) he tells me as Daryl and Rick gently set him down in a seat by the fire pit thats set up. I hand Evelyn to Rick.
"Don't call me ma'am, Rose or Rosie is just fine." I pat his head as Rick takes Evelyn to play with Carl at their tent. I explain to Dale about Randall, and he is willing to let the boy stay in the RV with him, Carol, and Sophia.
"If you or Soph feel uncomfortable, Carol, we have an extra cot in our tent, it's no problem at all." I smile at the mother and daughter.
"I think we'll be fine for now, Rosie." Carol kisses my cheek in thanks as Sophia hugs my waist, eyes curiously looking at Randall.
"Randall, this is Carol and Sophia. If you can't find me and you need something, I'm sure they won't mind helping you." I introduce.
"Momma, where's Evelyn?" Sophia asks as she looks up at me.
"Evelyn's with Rick, playing with Carl–" I stop as I realize what she called me. My head snaps down to her. "W-what did you just say?"
"Don't worry, Rosie, we talked about it last night, and I don't mind Sophia calling you momma, since you protected her and have always kept an eye out for her, even before we came to the farm." Carol smiles.
"Thank you..." I whisper as a few tears fall, Sophia and Carol hugging me before Sophia runs off to go find Carl, Rick, and Evelyn. Daryl leaves to go hunting as Carol and I talked with Randall and got to know him. "So... you are really like me and Evelyn." I say after he reveals it.
"Yes, ma'am– I mean Rose. I can turn into three things other than my human self. A baby marmoset, a giant wolf and a regular sized wolf." He blushes as he says the three things. He was like me then. I can shift into three things, having inherited the ability to shift into a horse from my mother, and Evelyn inherited the ability to shift into a caracal, which means she has another form she can shift into, both a small version and a big version. "I inherited the ability to shift into a marmoset from my father. My mother didn't have any at all."
"Same for me, except my mother was the one to pass the ability to turn into a horse to me, my father was completely human. From what I remember, she didn't know why or how we have these abilities."
"My father talked about a pack somewhere, a variety of different shifters who lived together, but never said where, and he didn't know how we have the ability either, just that one of his parents could, and one of theres, and so on and so forth." Randall says and I nod.
"Lets get you inside, its almost dark. Carol or I will bring dinner in to you when its time." I tell him as we stand and help him inside. He insists on sleeping on the couch-booth thing, and we allow him to, though Carol said her and Sophia were fine with giving up the bed in the back.
"Dinner will be ready in a bit, get some rest in the meantime." Carol smiles as she says this. We then leave to the house where some of the other women were cooking the dinner. Daryl joined us on the walk there. When we entered, we saw everyone else already sitting down to eat.
The conversation at the table was about how some of the group felt about the news of Randall's group and stay. Some, like Andrea and Shane, wanted him gone, away from the group, while Dale and I didn't, and Rick and Daryl knew not to go against me since I've already claimed the teen as a surrogate son to me. Lori and Carol kept quiet though, while Hershel was still upset with past events, along with his family.
