When I woke up, Glenn was changing a wet cloth that was pressed onto my forehead. I looked around drowsily and saw we were in some kind of nursing home, and the only people I recognized were Glenn, and the two men who took us from Daryl. I look down at myself to see I'm human again. I feel so weak... I can't shift back to a caracal, every time I try, it hurts both my head and stomach...
"You were out for a while." Glenn told me. "The others came to try to trade us for that kid in the alleyway. Didn't work, so now we wait for them to give these people the bag of guns. They aren't bad guys."
"I can tell." I say weakly. "I can see they're caring for elderly here. They obviously need the guns to protect their people more."
"Glenn?! Rosie?!" I heard from outside the room. Before long, a man led Daryl and Rick into the room we were in. Daryl rushed to me.
"Daryl? Rick?" I ask weakly as I try to sit up. Daryl helps me up.
"Its okay. We're gonna get you home, safe and sound." Daryl whispers to me. I smile weakly as I lean into him, looking to Glenn as Rick and the leader both leave to talk business about the guns.
"We thought they were gonna feed you to their dogs." T-Dog tells Glenn.
"You mean those dogs?" Glenn asks, pointing at a couple chihuahuas. I giggle before nearly collapsing to the floor. Daryl picks me up quickly.
"Daryl... I'm so tired..." I yawn. Glenn glances at me worriedly.
"Do ya think its safe for her to nap?" Daryl asks the two other men.
"She might have a concussion, but maybe not. Lets keep her awake for 20 minutes just to be sure. By the time we get to the truck, it should be safe for her to rest." Glenn explains. Daryl nods and holds me close.
"Lets go." Rick says, walking out with only half the bag than before.
"You did the right thing, no matter what anyone else says." I tell him.
"Lets get home." Rick ruffles my hair before we head out to the truck. When we got out of the city, we found our truck missing.
"I'm going to have to carry you on my back, Ro." Daryl says, sitting me on my feet before squatting down. I get on his back, his cross bow hanging on his side. I wrapped my arms loosely around him as he held my legs around his waist. My face fell in the crook of his neck as I fell asleep.
I know this is probably not a good idea for the baby, but its survived this far, I'm sure it'll survive this. I fell asleep with that thought on my mind.
I woke up, still on Daryl's back, but we were running fast as night had already fallen and I could hear screams and gunshots. We made it outside of camp and Daryl put me in his truck for safety. I was still weak, so I couldn't argue or be of any help to them. I watched helplessly as many of our group died. I cried as I saw Andrea holding a bit Amy as the chaos calmed. I got out of the truck when the coast was absolutely clear. I hugged Andrea for a moment before giving her space and going to Daryl.
"Go get some sleep in the tent. You need it." He kissed my head. I simply nodded like a tired child and went to the tent. Daryl had cans on strings outside his tent, probably to wake him if any walkers came.
I didn't fall asleep at all. I kept the tent door open, watching the men go around, fully killing any geeks and dead camp members. I was so tired by the time Daryl and the others retired for bed, all except Andrea and Dale, who was on watch. Daryl came into the tent and froze when he saw me up. He sighed before taking off his weapons and boots, grabbing me gently and putting me on his cot and climbing in with me, careful of my stomach. I just realized he has never mentioned or questioned my stomach. Did he not care? Was he not as curious as Merle was?
"Get some sleep, Ro..." Daryl whispered but I propped myself up on my elbow, turning to face him, having to move back a bit from my protruding belly wedging us farther apart from one another. "What?"
"Do you not care?" I whisper softly, searching his eyes.
"Care 'bout what?" He mumbled sleepily, propping up like me.
"About me being pregnant. You've never mentioned it or questioned me like Merle did. Do you not care? Do you not want to know?"
"I care. 'Course I do. Just don't think it matters. Ya haven't been acting lovey dovey with anyone, so no one here is the father, right?"
"Wrong." I whisper softly, looking down to my round belly sadly.
"What do ya mean? Someone here's the father? Who?" He asks, fully awake.
"Daryl..." I whimper, giving him that look that he knew well enough.
"Oh... Ro, why didn't ya say so?" He pulls me closer to him.
"I just... I told Merle who it was, and then... I just don't want you to leave too..." I sob into his shoulder, clutching onto his back.
"I ain't goin no where, Ro." He kissed my forehead multiple times. "No one, nothin, can take me away from ya, Ro. We've found each other again..."
"You're right... thank you Daryl..." I whisper, falling asleep not long later.
In the morning we took care of the funeral and burning of the geek bodies we didn't know. After that it was revealed Jim was bit, and then there was an argument on our next step. We decided to take Jim to the CDC, but sadly we didn't make it that far before he wanted us to leave him behind. After our tearful goodbyes to Jim, we made our way to the CDC, me in Daryl's truck the whole ride. When we got there, it almost seemed like Rick was losing his mind, but luckily we narrowly escaped the claws of the geeks and death, and found a lone doctor in the CDC. We were allowed to stay with the admission of blood tests. The Doctor, Jenner, became our dinner host and I finally felt safe again.
