🐾🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️11. On the Road. Again.🧟‍♀️🧟‍♂️🐾

Months later.

We had been on the road since the farm was overrun, trying to find a place to stay that was fortified. Lori was now closer to her due date and Evelyn was a few months old now. It was cold, but luckily winter was coming to an end. Daryl was the one who hunted, taking Randall along so he could teach him as well. Sophia knew how to, since I taught her, but she stayed behind to help Carol ration food, or me with Evelyn. Rick was doing his best to find a place for us all to stay, but after the first night, the group were becoming restless in a way. They didn't think he was a good leader, but when given the option to go and lead their own group their own way, none took the chance. Currently, Rick, Randall, and Daryl were out, one of them having seen something, but I wasn't paying attention to which. I was standing beside Lori as the woman sat in one of the few cars we had left. She leaned against the hood slightly, that was still warm. Evelyn was napping away in Sophia's arms who sat in the car with her mother. T-Dog, Glenn, and Maggie were keeping an eye out for any walkers as Beth and Hershel huddled together for warmth. Carl was curled into my side, between me and his mother.

Not long after leaving, the three males came back and led us to a prison, its yard filled with walkers. Not surprising, Rick was already coming up with a plan to kill them and close off the gate on the other side, to stop any more from coming in. That would allow us safety for the night. Rick was the one to run in as everyone spread out to find places to kill off the walkers. Once Rick locked the gate, he ran for a watch tower and as soon as he reached the top, everyone opened fire except Lori and I. I was trying to keep Evelyn calm and Lori helped cover her ears as best she could from the gunshots. Once it was clear, Carol came and took Evelyn, and I helped Lori into the yard and to a space she could sit down at as we cleared most of the bodies for a place to camp. Once that was done, we cooked some of the food Daryl went hunting for earlier today. Night fell quickly as Rick walked along the fence line, multiple times doing thorough checks. Daryl stood atop the turned over prison bus, keeping watch. I simply laid beside Carol and Sophia, Evelyn on my chest, after I had taken him some dinner and everyone ate. Randall stayed up, going to take the next watch after Daryl.

The next day, almost all of the men and Maggie, continued to clean out the prison yards, and managed to snag a cell block we decided to stay in. Cell Block C. I stayed with Lori, fussing over her with how close she was to giving birth. Randall stayed close to Daryl, helping with the walkers as Carol watched Evelyn, Sophia practically attached to the hip to both Daryl and Randall. She still calls me her Momma, and I can tell she sees Daryl as a father figure, since her own wasn't a good father at all. And Randall was practically adopted by me, but I could tell he had a crush on Sophia, who had a crush on him too. While we both were somewhat happy they had a normal part of their lives, both Carol and I worried what might happen to them in the future, but it was normal for us to worry as mothers.

"Open the door!" I heard Rick yell in panic. Carl, who was in charge of the the door of the cell block, quickly opened it and allowed Maggie, Rick and Glenn, who were pushing a silver rolling table that held an injured Hershel. I rushed over. "He got bit, we cut off his leg though."

"Carol, Lori, I need towels and blankets to slow down the bleeding. Where are Daryl and Randall?" I ask as I guide them to a cell.

"I'm right here, mom. Daryl's outside. We found some prisoners, he's dealing with them and making sure they stay out of our cell block." Randall says as he enters through the cell door. "What do you need?"

"My bag, I managed to find some thread and needle a while back on the road, and I need a bottle of alcohol, should be some in my bag too, kept it just in case of this, knowing our group and all." I sigh.

"Ok." He rushes out as Carol rushes in with blankets and towels, Lori trailing in after. I help Carol to apply pressure while we wait. "Here!"

"Thanks." I grab the items, dumping alcohol on the thread and needle to sterilize them both. Luckily the thread was the exact kind needed for this. I also added some alcohol to his bloodied leg to clean it. I hurry to stitch what I can and bandage what I can't. We couldn't Cauterize the wound without sending him into shock. I have to wait till he's conscious. "He's out of the woods for now, but we have to wait till he wakes up to completely tell what to do next to help him. Rick?"

"Got it." He handcuff's one of Hershel's hands to the bed.

"What are you doing?" Beth and Maggie panic slightly in tears.

"Its just a precaution, girls. I'm sure he'll be fine, but we can't be sure yet." I explain to them. "For now, all we can do is wait." I hug them both. "Someone has to watch him for now, I should go check on Daryl."

"We'll stay with him." Lori says, nodding to Beth and Carol.

"I'll watch after Evelyn for you, Momma." Sophia says.

"Ok. Stay in my cell with her and Carl, alright?" I kiss their heads. "Randall, lets go." Randall nods and follows behind me to Daryl outside the block, facing five males, all dawned in prison uniforms.

"Rosie, just stay inside the block, me and Randall can handle them." Daryl says, not even turning to see if it was me. I place a hand on his shoulder.

"I know, Daryl. You five, we've taken this cell block, and we'd be more than happy to help you get your own, as long as you listen to what we have to say. You can either leave this prison if you want, or stay in another block." I say, glancing over all of their faces, recognizing one of them.

"Long time no see, Kitty." The man before me winked as he said that.

"Oscar, hey." I send him a small smile and a nod of acknowledgement.

"You know her?" The man who seemed like the 'leader' of the five prisoners asked. He had black hair and looked psychotic.

"I'd recognize her pretty face anywhere. Had to save her a few times from a 'friend' of hers. Wound up in jail cause of him though."

"I'm really sorry about that, Oscar, I tried getting you out, but Rick wouldn't listen..." I sigh as he shakes his head with a chuckle.

"No hard feelings. I was doing something right, your brother didn't care to listen though, cause it was his best friend. Lets not dwell on it."

"Rose!" I hear someone shout from inside the block, making me sigh.

"I've got to get back. Just listen to my boys here, and you'll be fine." I say as Rick comes out to talk with the five prisoners and help them find a block, Randall staying to help Rick and Daryl. I head inside to Sophia.

"Whats wrong?" I ask her and she holds up a crying Evelyn.

"I can't calm her down, I've tried everything, Momma, I think she's scared or something. Maybe she just needs you?" Sophia mutters.

"Come here my baby..." I coo before clutching her close as she quiets, but there is panic where Hershel is, Lori being forced to give him CPR as he stopped breathing. Luckily she helped him and he was back to normal. "Sophia, why don't you and Carl play a card game in my cell while I lay Evelyn down for a nap? You two shouldn't have to watch this."

"Ok." The best friends chorus together as they follow me up.
