Patrick's trying to get over Pete. That's just the easiest way to put it. He's gotten out of bed, attended a few parties to let the press know he isn't dead, so he's alright.

He's feeling a lot better, basically.

So, while Pete's still trying to figure out if he loves Patrick, Patrick's trying to live his life. And let me be the first to tell you, he's doing a damn good job of it.

He's realised he doesn't need a man to make him happy. All he needs are his friends.

"I think I'm going to travel the world," Patrick says suddenly to Andy and Joe. Andy coughs for a long while until Joe pats his back.

"You're what?" He asks, swallowing. Patrick repeats himself, a huge grin on his face. "You fucking can't," Andy tells him. At that, Patrick's face drops.

"What? Why not?" He basically pouts. Joe crosses his arms. He still thinks something's going on between his husband and his husband's best friend.

"Pete. What about Pete?" Andy asks. Joe quickly uncrosses his arms and leans closer to hear Patrick better.

"He's made it obvious that he doesn't want me. I can't dwell on it when I know nothing will ever come of it. I can't lie and say I don't love him at all, but I can't lie and say that I want him to love me back. Maybe it's for the better that he rejected me," Patrick tells them.

Joe sees Pete on the balcony, listening to Patrick as he speaks. Pete's mouth is wide open as Patrick continues to speak about Pete obviously not loving him back since he's not returned the feelings he knows Patrick has for him.

Joe excuses himself and runs up the stairs. Pete tries to make an exit, acting as if he hadn't heard a word, but Joe catches his wrist and drags him to the chairs on the balcony type thing.

"You heard what Patrick was saying," Joe whispers. Pete shrugs.

"He was talking about me?" He asks, trying to play dumb. Joe rolls his eyes.

"Just stop. I know you know," Joe says, making Pete sigh.

"Yeah, I heard," Pete whispers, dropping his head. Joe shakes his head.

"You've got to make up your mind, man. You can't just fuck around with his feelings and expect him to stay and wait for you," Joe tells him. When did Joe get so wise?

"Thanks, Joe," Pete says. He gets up and goes back to his room. He's got a lot of thinking to do.

And the first question is, is Patrick worth it?

--

So Patrick's leaving today. Pete doesn't know where he's going, but he's staying true to his word and travelling the world.

He doesn't say goodbye to Patrick but watches his car leave from the upstairs balcony. Joe comes running up there seconds after Patrick leaves.

"You didn't fucking tell him!" Joe yells. Pete just shakes his head.

"I made up my mind. If he didn't want to stay here with me, what's the point in going after him?" Pete asks. Joe slaps him.

"You fucking idiot!" Joe accuses. "He left because he thinks you don't love him!"

Andy walks calmly up the stairs, twirling the keys to his Jeep in his hand before tossing them at Pete. He leans against the doorframe. "Hey, idiot, you've got something to fix. Flight leaves in an hour. He's ahead by about ten minutes. All I've got to say is run,"

So Pete does just that. He doesn't even have a motherfucking shirt on. Just a pair of joggers and some tennis shoes he picks up on the way.

The drive there is anything but calm and sweet. He's going like fucking hell is coming for him.

The time is about fifteen past midnight, and his flight leaves at 12:30. Pete's still at least ten minutes away because of shit traffic.

"What the fuck?" He screams, rolling his window down. "Why is there so much traffic at damn midnight?" He honks the horn.

They don't move. So Pete makes a bold decision. He gets out of Andy's car, shuts the door, and locks the car before taking off.

He used to play soccer. Of course, that was about fifteen years ago, but he's in shape. He's runs and runs until he thinks his lungs are going to give out.

He only stops when he makes it to the airport, leaning over to put his hands on his knees for point five seconds before he realises that he might've missed Patrick. He leans up and runs again, ignoring the aching in his side.

So Pete, a shirtless motherfucking man, runs into the airport that doesn't have many people just standing around. He catches the attention of a lady behind a desk.

"Flight.." He pauses to breathe, "to Japan. 12:30,"

When all he gets is a weird look, he runs towards the gates until he finds the one he's looking for. Departed one minute ago.

He falls to his knees, breathing heavily as tears roll down his cheeks. "I'm too late," He repeats, pulling at his hair.

Until he hears a faint, "Pete?" He turns around to see Patrick looking at him like he's concerned and freaked out at the same time.

Pete jumps up and runs into Patrick's arms, almost knocking the man on crutches down. "Holy fuck, you're still here," He mumbles, breathing shaky.

"Pete, man, I'm going to miss my flight.." Patrick trails off, pointing at the gate directly next to the one Pete thought was his.

"I love you," Pete says quickly. Patrick's eyes widen before he frowns.

"Andy and Joe put you up to this? They know I'm trying to get over you. No matter how much they want me to stay," He says. Pete shakes his head and stands up.

"No, Patrick, I'm telling the truth," Pete rushes out. Patrick shakes his head.

"Ironic how you want to tell the truth the day I leave, isn't it? Especially after Andy begged me to stay not an hour ago,"

"Shut up," Pete commands. Patrick immediately stops talking. "I love you. I don't know what made me realise, but when you were talking about getting away about two weeks ago, I knew I couldn't let you. You said you wanted to fall out of love with me, well, I can't let that happen. Maybe I love the way you stick your tongue out a little when you're concentrating. Or maybe when you're mad at me, the tips of your ears turn red. You're adorable when you stutter. You hate drinking with a burning passion. You-you like my clothes more than your own. And you don't complain when I steal your jerseys. Maybe that's why I love you," Pete says, finally finishing. Patrick does nothing except drop his bags and crutches and literally tackle Pete.

He wipes Pete's tears with his thumbs and then kisses him before whispering, "Finally,"

Andy and Joe walk up seconds later to Pete being taken away by airport security and Patrick on the ground laughing at him.

"Take a good look, 'Rick. That's what your stuck with," Andy says, laughing as Pete doesn't even struggle to get away. He just smiles at Patrick.

After Joe helps Patrick up, Patrick says, "I think I'll be okay,"
