10 minutes after crouching behind a hill, some people where beginning to get cranky.

"Can't we just go already?! My legs are cramping up!" Mystique complained.
"Aw, poor baby, do you want me to carry you in?" Wolverine teased, giving her a look of mock sympathy. "Oh shut up!"

"Quiet!" Storm hissed. "Your bickering like children!"

Mystique shot her a dirty look that could kill, and Wolverine began to growl in the back of his throat, his claws beginning to slide out of his clenched fists.

"Logan," Wildcat said sternly, placing a hand on his forearm and squeezing it tightly. They stared each other down until Wolverine huffed angrily and slid his claws back in.

Wildcat could feel them underneath the skin, and whipped her hand of his arm fighting back a small wave of  nausea as he let out a small snort of amusement.

"First of all, gross, not funny, stop laughing in your head I know you are. Second, calm down. It's fine."

She laced her slender delicate fingers  with his tough, strong ones.

"Its ok."

Wolverine looked up at her, his deep chocolate brown eyes meeting her hazel blue ones.

"Your exhausted. I can see it in your eyes." He told her. "We're all exhausted." She said back, smiling grimly as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him.

There quick moment of peace was ended as Professor X used his telepathic powers to make his voice echo in there minds.

" Alright X-Men. Here's the plan.   Storm will take out the cameras in front of the building, while Beast and Wildcat take out the guards on the inside of the door."

He told them. " When they give the signal, the rest of you are going to rush in and take the rest of the guards while Phoenix disables the power on the rest of the cameras and releases the mutant children. Once we all get them all situated on the jet we will fly home."

"Sounds simple enough," Cyclops shrugged, nodding towards the building.

"Mm-hmm, the sooner we get back the better." Phoenix agreed. "No kidding." Wolverine growled, resisting the urge to yawn.

" I am ready whenever you guys are." Storm said, turning her head to look at Wildcat and Beast. They looked at each other and nodded, launching themselves over the hilltop at full sprint.
As they ran, clouds formed in the night sky, dark and forbidding. A single bolt of lightning blasted downward, forking off and striking each one of the cameras at the same time.

Wildcat breathed hard, adrenalin beginning to prime her buzzing muscles for the upcoming fights ahead. She was strictly aware of everything around her. Every sight, every smell, every sound.

She heard her boots squelch against the mud beneath her feet, and the sweat beginning to form on her brow. The smell of musk wafting from Beasts fur and the moisture-hevey wind whipping around her face.

And it made her feel alive.

"Watch out," Beast huffed, bursting forward with a spike of energy and ramming into the door with his shoulder. It felt with a deafening crash that made Wildcats ears quickly flick back in pain.

The four hired guards that were stationed there quickly spun around in shock, raising their guns. Wildcat leaped forward, landing on one of the guards and slashing him across the face.

"Hold this for me, would you?" Called Beast, throwing the six inch heavy metal door at the two guards blocking his path. They flew back into the wall, unconscious. 

Wildcat swiftly kicked the last guard in the stomach. Hard. He cried out and fell to the ground, cluching it. "No! Don't hurt him!" Professor X's voice filled her mind. She grabbed the man by his collar, pulling him up and punching him straight in the face. He went limp, and she dropped him, standing up as she looked down at him with narrowed eyes, tail swishing.

"Whoops."

Beast peered around her shoulder, frowning slightly.

"Lee... I think you might've broken one of his ribs."

She turned to face him with a shrug. "Casualty of war."
She cupped her hands to her mouth, facing the entrance of the building.

"Let's move!"
