Chapter 5
Short chapter
-----------------------------
"Let's just find the soul an-" Nico looked into your eyes. He seemed jumpy. You felt a little light headed, but you ignored it, "What's wrong, Nico?"
"No, nothing." He clenched his fist. He started to lead the way, untill, he stopped, suddenly, "(Y/n), how are you feeling?"
"Huh? Why?"
He shook his head and looked down.
What was going on? You could see his concern. What was he so concerned about. Walking again, Nico began to get more comfortable.
"I'm going to go and look for someone, do you think you can manage on your own? No, nevrmind Hades might s-"
"You can go. I'll be okay. He won't find me."
"Are you s-sure?"
"Yeah." You reassure him.
He left and you looked for the unique soul.
"You're eyes. . ." Someone said. Nico was no longer around. It must've been a spirit.
"What eyes?" You asked whipping around.
"Yours. . .They are special. . ." A spirit stood before you. You gasped.
She looked familiar. Somehow. . .you had never met this woman in your life. "What. . .is. . .name. . ."
"W-what?"
"Name. . ."
"(Y/n). Are you the soul that. . .Posiedon. . ."
"Posiedon!" The spirit gasped in happiness.
"He. . .asked. . .for me?"
"Y-yes."
The spirit leaked into your bracelet. You had forgotten you had it. You haven't had given it a second thought since you arrived at Camp Half Blood.
What now? You looked for Nico. Time to time, spirits would cross your way. The kitten purred silently, not bothered by the spirits. It just got comfortable in your hair, nesting.
"You know, you shouldn't be stealing souls, (Y/n)." A pale man, now, stood in front of you, "I will not let this go unpunished."
Hades.
"Sorry, but this is what I have to do." You tell him, putting the bracelet in your backpack.
"Nico brought you here, didn't he."
"We've got to go and I'm taking the soul with me." You tell him.
He laughed bitterly, "no, your not. You're going to die, sadly Nico might follow your path, too."
"Leave him out of this. If you're going to kill one of us, let it be me."
"How touching. I'm not going to kill you."
'What?'
"Much worse." An armored skeleton took you by your wrist. You tried to get away from its grip, but it was no use.
Before another could grab your other hand, you made it into a fist and punched skull. It loosen it's grip, and you pulled away, bring out your dagger.
Soon you were crowded with the dead.
You hacked, slashed and dodged. Not one being able to touch you.
"Stop." Everyone froze. Nico appeared from nowhere. "Father, please, stop!"
"Trespassing shall not be tolerated. . .what a shame. Goodbye." Hades nodded towards the skeleton.
After that everything got dark. You felt a hand grazed yours, "Y/N!" You felt a strange sensation in your stomach, there was nothing to grab onto.
.
.
.
You were falling.
.
.
.
Wind drowned out your own screams from your ears.
He had thrown you down. You were falling to Tartarus.
You wished Nico was okay. You hoped he got out safely. 'Please, be okay, Nico.'
You stopped screaming and braced yourself for the fall.
.
.
.
'How long has it been?'
.
.
.
You manage to bring your backpack to your chest and hug it. How long was the fall?
.
.
.
Pain seared through your body. So much pain.
It was still dark.
Then there was no pain. You felt nothing. Had the impact killed you?
The pain returned, mush worse. You couldn't move. You tried to open your eyes but it hurt, everything hurt. It felt as if a million hot needles were piercing you. You clenched your jaw and refrained from screaming. "I. . .I. . .need to. . .mo-ove. You try to get up, the pain intensifies. You manage to stand, only to fall back, on your knees. You opened your eyes, your vision was blurred by the water stinging them. Your throat burned and you felt like you were about to volimit.
You took in a deep breath and lifted your head, 'h-how am I not dead. The impact should have killed me. . .this is impossible.' You removed the thought out of your head, you shouldn't be complaining about surviving. The thought was quickly replaced by Nico.
Hades couldn't be so cruel. . .cruel enough to punish Nico this way. He just couldn't, even if was the God of death.
You opened your backpack with a struggle, unable to move your bones, too much, without burning pain. The bracelet was safely sitting inside. The rose, it was drooping.
Wilting.
You digged around your backpack for ambrosia. Lucky you found it.
You took a piece and placed in in your mouth, it tasted like. . .
You barley had ambrosia, but when you did it tasted like (favorite food/pastry) that your mother use to make perfectly. But now it tasted like cardboard. You swallowed the ambrosia in hopes that it would make you feel a bit better. You heard a meow, it was quiet. You felt a small animal nuzzle your leg. The small animal jumped in front of your sight, it meowed sadly. The kitten looked fine, it was not hurt. You were happy it survived, you smiled and took the kitten in your hands and placed it on your shoulder, we're it began to nuzzle your neck. You felt better now, the ambrosia had help. The kitten reminded you a bit of Nico, it made you sad, but happy, too. The kitten was giving you a bit hope.
"How am I supposed to get out of here?" You asked, looking up. The ceiling was gray and had blood red clouds swimming about in it.
You heard a hiss, making you get up.
"Hello, child."
"Who's there?" You whisper. Your mother taught you many things, so you knew there were monsters in tartarus. Being too loud might attack them towards you.
"Darling, I've been starving." The female voice said as you heard shuttling.
You closed your backpack and secured it over your back and the straps around your shoulders. The kitten on your shoulder let out a small hiss.
"I've been waiting. But the girl never came. I guess, you will do, too." The voice hummed. You felt it's presence move closer, jumping towards you, but you swiped at it before it could touch you. It dodge you and flew back. You could see what it was now. It was a spider. A big spider. It had taken the chance to wrap a web stand to your leg.
"You can't escape, now." It started to get closer but you quickly got out your knife and cut it. Somehow, the steel strong web, had broken with the slice.
"What a powerful weapon," the spider chirped, "what's your name?"
You growled, "what's it to you?" You tried to sound upbeat. You couldn't let the predator know you were weak.
"I just want to know," She sang, "for example, my names Arachne." You knew who the spider was, she was a spider, afterall, because one of the gods. Athena.
"I don't care who you are."
The spider let out a laugh, "I just might want to preserve you."
"What?" You questioned.
"I will keep you safe. . .If you do me a favor. . ."
What was the spider going on about. What could the favor be?
"Once, you are out, I want you to kill a certain girl for me."
"What?!"
"Yes. Her name is Annabeth."
'A-nnabeth?! Annabeth chase. No.'
"I see that you know her. Just kill her an bring her to me. That's it."
You couldn't say 'yes.' It would be betrayal to, not only Annabeth, but the camp too. "What a generous offer, but, no. I don't accept it."
The spider was hidden.
"Well I'm just going to have to kill you."
Y
ou got in a fighting stance and got ready. The spider came from it hiding place and shot it's leg towards you, attempting to impale you.
You were able to dodge it, but uneasily. You took the moment to hack at one of its eight legs. Could you kill a monster in its own territory. Where they are made? You decided not to think about it, it was just making you less confident about being able to escape. You cut the leg off, making the spider screech. "You stupid brat!" She shoved her other leg in your direction. You were barley able to dodge that one, so she got the side of your neck. You ignored the blood and threw your dagger straight at her head. It pierced her with a crunch, but it did the job. The spider disappeared. You didn't know it was dead or alive, because it didnt erupt into flames or dust, it disappeared into the shadows, leaving behind your dagger.
