Entry

"Kylie!" I turn in surprise, my finger pressing down on the release button of my camera, capturing my best friend.

"Evan, what're you doing here?" I asked. He's the last person I'd expected to run into tonight.

"I figured I'd come be your side kick tonight, or whatever it is that a photographers assistant is called." I snort at his lack of knowledge as I lower my camera.

"I'm not quite sure you qualify." Evan lifts an eyebrow at that, making him look goofier than he sounded. "I'm not really doing much, anyway. I just wanted to get out for some fresh air."

"Fresh air, huh?" He asked as he eyes me carefully. I pull in on myself at his close examination, hoping he won't notice anything. I should have known better. "I knew it!" He reaches out, causing me to flinch away as he gently brushes the hair out of my face, revealing my black eye.

"It's nothing, alright?" I said, pulling away from Evan.

"They're bullying you again, aren't they?" When I don't say anything I notice his hands curl into tight fists. "Why didn't you tell me, Kylie? Why aren't you telling anyone?" I look down at my camera, running my finger around the lens.

"It's not like it'll change anything. You don't even go to the same school anymore, Evan. It doesn't really concern you."

"If it's about you it does." He answered so quickly that I'm taken back by it. His eyes bore into mine and I can't stop myself from looking away, my cheeks tinting in embarrassment.

"I'm fine, okay." I jump when I feel his hand brush against mine. I look up and meet his brown eyes, the lopsided smile back on his face.

"Come on, I have a surprise for you." He said before interlocking our fingers and pulling me forward.

"Wait, Evan, where are we going?" He laughs at the worry in my voice. Minutes later I'm stopping in front of a huge ferris-wheel illuminated in multiple colors.

"It's beautiful." I whispered as I lift my camera to snap a photo. When I'm done Evan pulls me forward and onto the ride.

"I got special permission to use this tonight." He said as we take our seats and the ride begins. "I knew you'd like it."

"Like it? I love it!" I said as I look and meet his eyes. My cheeks burst into flames and he just gives me his lopsided grin. Something I've grown to love. "Thanks." I smile wholeheartedly and turn back to the scenery.

"Well, if I couldn't do this much for the girl I love, how useless would I be?" My head whips around.

"What?" The lopsided smile turns cheshire and Evan tugs on the hand he still has hold of, pulling me closer to him. "Wait, what did you say, Evan?" I asked and, as his lips brush against mine he says,

"Say cheese." My camera's shutter goes off, capturing us in the moment.
