eight
Bella
I was in the bedroom on the second floor that had been decorated with stuffed animals.
I just browsed my phone, looking at different posts made by friends, and even a few posts from Nolan of him with girls, which nearly made me puke.
I could hear Ben's mothers faint crying from the room next door, and I simply gave her her own space. She was upset and I didn't want to get in her space, and Ben wasn't helping by leaving, but a part of her understood.
I went to the small bathroom linked to this little girl bedroom, and put my hands on the cold, crystal faucet handles, turning on cold water to splash on my face.
I looked in the mirror after I dried my face off with a pastel pink towel. And I saw that my eyes were red and glossed over. Probably from tearing up in front of Ben's mother.
I need a fucking cigarette.
I realized that I didn't have a bag with me or anything, so I had to search around the room for possibly a brush, headband, anything I could use to put my hair up.
There was a small woven basket under the sink that had a comb and multiple headbands, one decorated with yellow designs on a white bandana. I brushed my hair back and put it in a ponytail, then wrapped the bandana around my head in a bow on top.
I had put on the outfit that I wore underneath my work clothes, skinny jeans and a baggy yellow t-shirt that had sunflowers on it. A lot of people had told me I rocked the color yellow and It strangely went well with my blue hair.
I grabbed my phone that I left on the bed and walked out the door. I couldn't hear Ben's mother as much anymore so I figured she had fallen asleep, tired from the mental breakdown.
I couldn't help but feel bad for her, and Ben. His father was a real dick. In her opinion, dick level - Nolan.
Wow, that would make a great book title.
As I went down the stairs, everything seemed eerily quiet. No one was in sight and it felt like a winter freeze went throughout the house, freezing everything.
I made my way through the kitchen to the front door and was shocked to see through the window that it was dark outside.
How is that possible? It's only like 2 PM...
I opened the door to see if Benji was outside, but once I did I gasped and held my hand over my mouth.
There stood a shadow figure of a man in front of the door, and I immediately slammed it, running back up the stairs.
I had to wake up Ben's mom and tell her something was at the house, and none of it felt right.
But once I reached the door with faded white paint on it and turned the knob, opening it wide, I saw no one in the room and froze.
"Where the hell did she...." I mumbled to myself, not finishing the sentence as I began to look around in the bathroom and closet for her, in which they were all empty.
I heard her crying again, and I listened as best as I could, and it sounded like it came from downstairs, and I didn't hesitate for a second before running downstairs to the kitchen.
I gasped as I looked around, at the windows in the living room and kitchen.
Multiple shadows were looking in from outside.
I could feel my heartbeat race like a car on a highway, and the chill in the house gave me goosebumps and froze my skin.
"Where are you?! " I yelled, turning in circles, trying to find the crying woman.
I ran through the house, looking in bathrooms, laundry rooms, and eventually down the hallway to Benji's room. I jumped every time I turned a corner, a black shadow at each window.
I couldn't see anything on them, just their figure, but it felt like their eyes were burning holes into my skull.
As I turned from Benji's room to face the art room, all the lights in the house went out.
I stared at a woman on the floor, she didn't look anything like Ben's mother but she was crying.
She was thin, and not skinny, thin like she hadn't eaten in days. Her back was facing me, and her short brunette hair was frizzy and messed up.
I slowly went up to her.
"Hey, why are you crying? What's wrong?..." I asked, slowly walking up to her.
I jumped back as she quickly turned to face me. One of her hands was holding her face, with a cut on one of her fingers.
It was small, but it looked severely infected, with pus and purple bruises surrounding it. I almost wanted to throw up by how terrible it looked. She was dirty like she had gone through something terrible and couldn't care about how she looked and smelled.
"Did you come here after the storm?" I asked, walking up to her more, having only about a foot between us.
She didn't respond.
"It's ok... I-I can take you to a shelter or something, alright?" I said, slowly reaching my hand out to help her up.
All of a sudden, she screamed and I had to cover my ears. It was so loud that I had to cover them and close my eyes. They matched ringing in my ears.
When I opened my eyes again, I saw the TV on, and the bright static, along with Ben laying on the floor screaming in pain, with the woman disappearing.
I groaned as the static from the television filled my head along with the screaming, but I was able to grab Ben's arm.
"Benji, we have to leave!" I yelled, as loud as possible, and he continued to scream. I tried to pull him closer to the door, but it was locked, and I pounded on it.
"Let us out! Please let us out!" I screamed, pounding the door.
Once I had realized that it wasn't going to open, I looked over at the TV, and I could partially make out the woman that I saw sitting on the floor.
The box of tapes is under the floor, you can remove the wood...
That's when I got the idea.
I went over to the hatch and put my fingers around the sides of the panels, grunting as it crushed them partially, and used all my force to lift the board.
That when I took the board and rammed it right into the TV.
All of a sudden, the static and the screaming stopped, and it looked like even Ben had passed out.
I dragged his arm and grunted at the weight of him, pulling him closer to the door, which was now unlocked.
I pulled Ben through the hallway, walking backward. The chill in the house was beyond freezing, and I could feel my muscles freezing in place.
We had to get out of the house. We would leave and find the town.
I put him up on the couch using all my strength, and quickly rummaged through the cabinets and pantries, gathering food and shoving them in Bens old school backpack.
Then we would leave, and test out luck somewhere in the deep dark woods.

A/N: Hey yall! Things got spiced up in his chapter, huh? Well, I hope you all enjoyed it!
So far this was probably my most favorite chapter to write. I was able to show what I thought would be creepy and paranormal. I'm excited to write more of these in the future!
I hope you enjoyed the double upload! <3
Also, should I do a Q and A, or a chapter where i talk about my ideas for the book? What are your thoughts on the book so far? Let me know in the comments!
