Chapter 8
(Third person POV)
Zach sat around the kitchen counter his head in his hands, he didn't know what to do, what to say to Bella. It was an accident he knew that but did Bella? Questions ran through his mind, he couldn't sleep last night with worry. What if she left him? He scoffed she's not his to begin with, she stated that plenty of times, but somehow from the first day he saw her staring down at him from her balcony he felt that she was.
"What's got you so worked up this morning?"
Knox said making his way to the fridge, it wasn't often that he seen his best enforcer his head in his hands not knowing what to do, he goes out and gets the job done hence why he put him as one of the club's enforcers.
"Nothing, it's nothing" Zach spoke shaking his head, not taking his eyes off his hands, Knox grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge taking a seat beside Zach.
"Zach come on, it's me you're talking to. What happened yesterday?" he spoke taking a sip of his water, he knew exactly what happened last night, but he wanted Zach to tell him what's going on.
"It's Isabella, I don't know how to apologise to her" Knox hummed something wasn't right with that girl, he has an inkling feeling that he knew her from somewhere, he was sure that he did but he didn't know from where.
"Where did you say she was from?" Knox spoke looking subtly at him, "New York, she and her dad moved here after her mom died from terminal cancer" he spoke hopping of the stool moving towards the coffee machine.
He nodded, his mind instantly drifting to the Blood Brotherhood gang. They had been terrorizing his motorcycle club for years. Initially, it started with a few minor encounters, but in the last two years, they escalated their operations significantly. They even managed to import drugs into the club's territory, a provocation that often leads to gang wars.
Although the past six months had been quiet, this didn't ease Knox's concerns. He feared they were plotting something major. Consequently, he ensured that security around the main house was tightened and all his men were well-trained in case of any trouble.
"What else do you know about this girl?"
A small smile graced Zach's face as he thought about her "She wears a gold necklace that her mom gave her before she died. She always fidgets with it when she's nervous. She's obsessed with bikes. She's very overprotective with the people she loves. She hasn't spoken to me about it but I can see the pain in her eyes every time she speaks about her dad and her move from New York, and it goes beyond her mother's death"
"If you like this girl Zach, make sure she knows it. Stop worrying about the why and the how just do something about it, if you want to apologise just go to her house and apologise" Knox spoke with a sigh, before exiting the kitchen leaving Zach to his thoughts.
(Isabella's POV)
I had no idea where I was headed; I just drove, hoping to escape the heavy thoughts weighing on my mind. I believed things could be different. As I rounded the corner my bike let out a loud roar before coming to a complete stop. Frustrated, I groaned—of all days, it had to happen today. I tilted my head towards the sky and let out a violent scream, trying to release all my worries and the harsh reality I was facing.
I got off the bike, moving it till it was parked at the side of the road, I couldn't be bothered with calling the towing company so I just walked.
I walked for a few minutes until I came across the same beach Zach took me to, I took off my shoes walking towards the crystal clear water, a small smile formed on my lips when I felt the cool water hit my feet.
That is when everything came rushing down on me, the toll of these past months fell on my shoulders, one can be strong for so long until they crumble, tears slowly rolled down my face disappearing with the roaring sea hiding any evidence of the loneliness, fear, and sadness I felt.
The tears soon turned into sobs, I sat down on the sand watching the water crash in with the rocks, the noise soothing my cries, I remembered life back at my old home, the friends I left behind. Tears made their way down my face as I thought about why exactly I ran from home.
A few hours went by before I headed back to face my reality, what I didn't expect was Zach sitting down on my front porch with a beautiful bouquet of flowers sitting in between his knees.
"Zach" I called out as I came close enough "What are you doing here?" his head snapped up, his eyes hardened as soon as they landed on my face. He stood up hurriedly coming to stand in front of me "I can't believe I did this to you" he took a breath his fingers gracing my face I grimaced pulling away from his touch "I'm sorry baby girl. I swear I didn't mean to" he spoke heaving a sigh.
"It's fine Zach. I'm fine" I said moving around him heading towards the door. "You're obviously not fine Bella. You're barely talking to me" he moved behind me till I was trapped between him and the door.
"Turn around. Talk to me"
"What do you want me to say Zach?" I sighed turning around to face him "Whatever was happening between us had to stop, the punch made sure that happened" his shoulders dropped, his face morphing into one of pain.
"How can you say that? You felt what we have between us. Why would you want to throw that away?" the look on his face made the next few words even more painful to say.
"I can't be with someone that thinks violence is the answer to everything, we weren't doing anything I went to his gym a couple of times and we worked out together, he's my friend." I sighed feeling the exhaustion weighing me down.
"I can't do this Zach. I'm sorry" I said I couldn't bear to look at him, I turned opening the door and leaving him on my front steps.
