Shadow: Created by the Cosmic Entity known as the Stranger, Ego was a brain-like Celestial that used his matter manipulating ability to construct a planet-like shell around himself in the Black Galaxy. 

Greg: Having long forgot his origins while pondering his existence, his fellow Celestials mostly dying out, Ego sought purpose and meaning as he created an avatar body to explore the universe for life besides himself.

Randy: But he became disillusioned by what he saw, becoming a genocidal megalomaniac with a god complex filled with a desire of universal conquest. But various heroes like Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy put him down a peg. Oh and he's Star-Lord's father but that's MCU exclusive only.

Greg: Ego possesses unfathomable power thanks to his unique biology. He has strength that rivaled that of Galactus, has psionic abilities like telepathy, can fire energy beams from his eyes, form tentacles and absorb all kinds of energy as well. And being  Celestial means he has immortality, as in longevity and all that.

Shadow: He's capable of altering his planet size at will, but he can create avatars if he's fighting someone his large size can't target or just make an object big like when he turned an ant as big as a human once.

Randy: And don't worry, should anyone somehow bypassed his defenses and enter his core, Ego can create anti-bodies to fight them off. And being a sentient planet allows him to change the environment other other living beings to survive on his body.

Feats

Defeated Silver Surfer, Thor, Galactus and Guardians of the Galaxy

Competes with the likes of Thor and Galactus

Tanked Galactus' attacks, in which one instance he claims to strike with "the fire of a thousand suns"

Merely stunned from taking hits by an enraged Thor

Made a bunch of ants strong enough to fight Asgardians

Blew up Krylor in a fit of rage

Caused worldwide natural disasters on Earth just by entering the solar system

Restrained and consumed Thanos and the Black Order

Both Thor and Galactus stated Ego's power matched or surpass theirs (Though Galactus was starving at that point)

The combined force of three planet's worth of battleships does nothing but annoy Ego

Ego was completely fine being in the heart of the core of the Milky Way

Randy: Ego is earned his reputation of being of the strongest beings in Marvel. He's battled the likes of Thor and Galactus, bested the Silver Surfer twice and withstood being taken over by the supercomputer Worldmind and uno reversed it, taking control over it instead.

Greg: He's also tough enough to take hits from three planets' worth of battleships and bested Thor on several occasions. Thor's battle with the Gorr the God Butcher shattered planets, bested the Sentry who killed Ares who reacted with planck time and survived the Godbomb going off which is said to kill all gods across space and time.

Randy: Thor outright admitted his Godblast could only hinder Ego and this is the same attack which threatened to kill Galactus and defeated Majeston Zelia, both of whom scales to Thor's father Odin.

Popup: Odin was capable of destroying 9 of the 10 realms, all of which were stated to be universe-sized. Galactus defeated Odin and Majeston Zelia is twice as powerful than Odin.

Shadow: Ego even defeated Galactus himself, whose battle with the Other and the Scrier threatened to destroy the entire Marvel multiverse as just a side effect of their battle.

Shadow: And during one of their fights, Ego was hit by Galactus with the, and I quote, "fire of a thousand suns" and emerged unscathed after being pelted by countless planets before attacking Galactus faster than he can react.

Randy: Man I can't tell what's more crazy: the fact Ego could take hits from Galactus like that whenever they fight or the fact a living planet bested a cosmic being known to devour entire planets.

Shadow: But Ego does have his downsides. As his name suggests, he has a huge ego and tends to underestimate his opponents a lot, resulting in his losses against Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy. And without sunlight, his body begins to break down and fall apart.

Randy: Sheesh. For someone who's part Celestial, you'd think he cover that with his matter manipulation.

Greg: And while he did bested Galactus, most of the time Galactus was starving meaning he was not at full power or Ego needed help from Thor to repel him. But one thing's for sure, Ego will stop at nothing to assert his dominance and ascend the cosmic hierarchy.

Ego: Creatures of the third planet, heed me!

Ego: I am Ego, the living planet! Feel my wrath!
