Chapter 1

[RAAF Base Glenbrook, Glenbrook, NSW, Australia: 14th of April, 2071, 10:30 AM]

" So, you'll be flying this, F/A-18F Super Hornet as your test plane, " a blonde middle-aged woman explained and pointed at the fighter plane.

Amnon curiously looked at the fighter aircraft and cheerfully whistled in awe while sitting on the mat. The young pink skinned Kree Eternal turned to his older sister and asked, " How old is that putrid of flying metallic mud? "

Colonel Eumeralla " Ella " Hughes-Knightfall smirked at her younger half-brother's humorous query and loudly laughed. She couldn't believe what he had spoken. Amnon cocked his eyebrows and waited for his sister to answer.

" Oh, crikey! That's really sick mate! " Ella yelped. " You even dare to mention that bloody bastard's words in your question! "

" Hey, I'm just kidding here, Sis! No dramas! " Amnon also laughed. " Look, I'm lightening up the mood here! Well, I can't wait to take the controls of the Great Hornet. "

" It's around 59 years old before those drongos from the Foundation were flat out in creating you. "

" And this thing still flies? "

" Bloody oath, yeah. You surely want to ride this beauty, " Ella nodded. " You wanna give it a go, Amjoe? "

" Hell yeah, Sis, " Amnon confidently replied and stood up from the mat. " I'll make sure that fighting tin can flies. "

" Since, it's a 59 year old fighter plane. You just need to be careful with the controls. It has never been used for several years. Make sure to check the engine, the switches, and buttons. Don't forget to set the engine and plan for your test flight. "

" Got it, Colonel Hughes-Knightfall, " the pink skinned Kree Eternal affirmingly saluted at his sister and test flight manager.

" Alright, let's get started! "

[Forty-Five Minutes Later: Skies above Glenbrook, New South Wales]

Amnon Joseph Danvers-Montmartre was in full control of the fighter plane as his solo test flight. He was around 10 kilometers above sea level, still roaming around the troposphere. Flying in the air, he wondered if he couldn't pilot the Hornet on his own. Instead, he thought of flying on his own just like what he did above Rouen, France. He could remember he was reaching above Low Earth Orbit and seeing the dark void blanket of space with tiny specks of light. Somehow, that evening French spaceflight was even more satisfying than piloting an air craft.

A few years ago, he recalled of reading a book about the American pilot named Chuck Yeager who broke the sound barrier above the Edwards Air Force Base in California on the 12th of October, 1947. This time, he decided of doing the same thing in Down Under.

" I've been flying above the ground for a couple of minutes, " he musingly thought and smirked in his respiration mask. " Why not make it a bit higher than this?! Let's go supersonic, then! "

He checked the heads-up display monitor, the engine, and other displays in front of him. The daredevil pink Kree pilot pulled the centre stick as the Hornet instantly ascended to the stratosphere. Amnon reached the high altitude and kept inhaling while controlling the aircraft. Somehow, this was trip was less turbulent and smoother than where he was around fifty minutes ago. He could see the radiant blue sky with some fluffy white cirrocumulus clouds and stratus clouds as well.

The pink skinned Kree Eternal was doing his smooth sailing trip above the skies with an ocean of clouds. He could feel that traveling around stratosphere is brighter than he was in the troposphere. He could see the bright blue Pacific Ocean just below him aside from the view of the Glenbrook Airbase and some neighboring towns.

He recalled the evening when he was piloting a commercial aircraft going to Queensland in rescuing his sister and other people. It was a fulfilling rescue mission. Yet, he chose not to disclose or expose himself in the public eye. Instead, he wanted to fly, drift, and reach the skies like he has been dreaming of when he was a Kree-682 hybrid clone.

Amnon continued maneuvering the Hornet and thought of doing some aerial stunts which he had done from his training. He slowly turned the fighter upside down and maintained the same speed which he was flying. He widened his eyes in shock and felt a bit nauseated from his trick. He immediately returned to his normal position and sighed in relief. Suddenly, he heard a static noise coming from his radio.

" Hornet, this is Glenbrook! Do you copy? " a male voice with an Aussie accent echoed.

" Yes, this is Hornet, " Amnon responded. " I'm holding this flying metal putrid of mud above. "

" How's the situation up there? "

" It's a warm and cloudly sky. I'm around 50 kilometers above the Pacific Ocean and East of Glenbrook Airbase. The temperature is around 32 degrees Celsius. It's pretty warm up here, sir. "

" Good on ya, mate. Are there any anomalies or threats? "

" No, the coast is clear. It's good enough to go above the Stratosphere. "

" Make sure you land safely and check the fuel and oxygen just in case. If something happens to you, you need to do an emergency landing. "

" Roger that. "

The flight radio communication had ended when Amnon made his another aerial stunt. He rapidly ascended the Hornet, went above 80 kilometers, and realised the air had become thinner and colder. He realised he was flying around the lowest part of the thermosphere. The pink Kree started to hyperventilate. He had already known that it would be impossible to reach further since he was inside the air craft. It would be easier if he could fly on his own.

" Merde, flying above here is very risky! " he anxiously thought and inhaled. " I can't stay any longer if I use this metallic bird! It would have been better if I fly on my own! "

" Hornet, this is Glenbrook! You need to descend now! " the same male air traffic controller exclaimed. " You're no longer in the safe zone for flying, I reckon! "

" G-Glenbrook, t-this is....H-Hornet...speaking...." Amnon anxiously panted. " The air pressure isn't conducive to remain in the low thermosphere region! I need to head back and expect an emergency landing! "

" What on Earth, Montmartre?! You're almost reaching the outer space! Oh, Bloody Hell! The Hornet can't stand the highest altitude and no air pressure if you go on further! "

Amnon looked at his monitoring displays especially that engine. It showed that the fuel was gradually decreasing. Then, he checked for his respiration level which the oxygen began to decrease as well.

" I'm...heading...back! I might crash and splash down into the ocean! " he nervously exclaimed.

" Montmartre, Don't be a drongo mate! Just prepare for your emergency landing! "

" Roger...that! "

The pink skinned Kree Eternal held his breath in a span of seconds to minutes and tightly held the centre stick, pulling it. Then, he lowly uttered a prayer in Kree language. The engine display continued flashing in red which the Hornet's condition became too alarming to reach and return onto the ground. His increasing levels of adrenaline rushed into his blood stream. He started to sweat from his forehead and felt his heart thumping loudly and rapidly. Just then, his eyes started to spark in bluish-white light.

The time was running out for the Kree Eternal which he found himself in the middle of nowhere. With this uncertainty, there were thoughts popping out of his mind: suicide mission, point of no return, crashing down, and exploding in mid-air. His eyes were rapidly moving to and fro even it was flashing radiantly with his cosmic light.

He remembered those cosmonaut training days in Russia when Smolder and Trifa reminded him of some unexpected issues happening while going to outer space or landing on Earth. He realised that it would be very risky to experience harsh conditions. This time, he totally understood it as he was a facing life and death situation.

" For Pama's sakes! I'm not ready to die! " Amnon loudly exclaimed. " Dad, I know you're listening and watching over me right now! I can't afford to blow up or crash this plane! "

" Son, you're now in the Stratosphere. Help is on the way..." a deep and calm male voice echoed from his mind.

Just then, he saw something speeding up from the outside. They were two figures approaching to his position. Then, he widened his eyes in hock to see his mother saluting on his left side. Then, on his right side, it was Skóuro Valour, dark angel who waved her right hand. Amnon understood what would they do. Then, he sighed in relief and patched overcomms as his bright light from his eyes ceased.

" Glenbrook, this is Hornet speaking! " the pink Kree broke his silence. " Do you copy? "

" Bloody Hell! Where on Earth are you, Montmartre?! " the air traffic controller asked anxiously and loudly rang his voice to Amnon's ears.

" I'm already in the Stratosphere region! 44 kilometers above the base, I have back-ups coming to prepare for my emergency landing. "

" Back-ups? "

" They're here on air! It's my mother Carol Danvers-Montmartre and my friend, Skóuro Valour! "

" Thank goodness! Now, you may land safely. "

" Copy that! Reaching around 35 kilometers. "

[Moments Later]

As the Hornet jet made its safe landing, Amnon had quickly removed his helmet and harnesses on his seat. Then, he quickly got out of the cockpit. His older sister Eumeralla crossed her arms and sternly glared at her younger half-brother. The blonde pink Kree nervously chuckled and grinned at her.

" Amjoe, you daredevil bloke?! " she furiously growled. " What are you trying to do?! You almost blew up there! Captain Hargreaves monitored your ridiculous situation! "

" Sis, I'm sorry..." he humbly spoke and bowed his head to his embarrassment. " I just want to surpass Chuck Yeager's record in breaking the sound barrier. So, I did. "

" But the Hornet is incapable to reach the highest alt..."

" Ella, it's okay, " Carol calmly assured and sweetly smiled at her daughter and son. " He has learned his mistake as we got it under control. "

" But mum..."

Skóuro walked along with the elderly blonde half-Kree and the other blonde cyborg. Amnon sighed in relief and warmly smiled at the newcomers which he recognised them. Ella took a deep inhale and composed her words before speaking up.

" At least, Amnon has broken another record of almost reaching the outer space while riding a fighter jet! " the dark angel sweetly chuckled. " That could be an achievement which you guys should be proud of! "

" It would have been better if I never piloted the Hornet, " Amnon humorously mused and grinned while holding his helmet. " It'll be easy if I go beyond the thermosphere! "

" Amjoe, you bugger! You can't fly there on your own! This is freakishly insane! "

" Well, I did around a year ago and before I got here in Australia! Do you have any problems there? "

" You ugly show-off airhead bloke! "

" What did you say? "

" Nothing..."

Carol, Skóuro, and Gourai laughed at the two humorously bantering and taunts. Suddenly, they stopped laughing when Carol looked at her everyone. She cleared her throat and said, " It may be a both a thrill and a perilous ride, but at least you know the precaution." Then, she turned to her son, " Is that understood, Amnon Joseph Danvers-Montmartre? "

" Yes, Mother. It won't happen again, my apologies, " he humbly spoke and bowed his head.

" You surely did a good job up there, Amnon, " Gourai broke her silence and sincerely smiled. " No one could ever do that. "

" I-I d-did?! " the blonde pink Kree nervously spoke and blushed hard upon listening his friend's remark. " But what I did was really a daredevil and nerve wrecking stunt. Are you sure you have watched my flight? "

" Yes, I am, " the blonde cyborg lady nodded and explained. " I saw how fast you have flown above the ground, but I didn't see you when you went further. Then, I saw you again with Carol and Skóuro helping you to land. What's important there is you had fun up there."

Amnon blushed harder and nervously chuckled, " Thanks, Gourai! It's true that I enjoyed above the ground! " Then, he turned to his sister, " Ella, I guess I'm eligible and ready for my flight school graduation on the thirtieth, right? "

" Technically, flying the Hornet is your final practical exam, " Ella seriously spoke. " If you pass, then you're all set for your graduation and then receive your license as a pilot. "

" I'm pretty sure you will pass the exam and graduate, Kid, " Carol chimed in and gently patted her son's back.

" Thanks, Mom for you and Skóuro in saving my life up there," the blonde pink Kree hugged her.

The elderly blonde half-Kree woman hugged her son back as Ella exasperatedly sighed while watching them. She felt sorry for her younger half-brother.

" I agree with that too, " Skóuro nodded and said. " Besides, the MTF and SHIELD will be needing more pilots in the near future. You might be fit to be one, Amnon. "

" Thanks, Skóuro, " Amnon smiled and nodded back at her.

" You're welcome. Just be careful out there, okay? "

" I will. "

Suddenly, the pink skinned Kree Eternal's stomach loudly growled as everyone heard it. He grew embarrassed and dryly chuckled.

" You hungry, Kid? " his mother asked with concern.

" Yeah, Mom. I have been in the air more than a hour, " he replied.

" So, are we. We need to chow down at lunch. "
