Chapter 6

" As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you..."

- Isaiah 66:13 (ESV)

(NEW YORK CITY, 6:30 PM)

Elder Carol Danvers had lost her appetite after being imprisoned and waiting for death sentence. Her brainwashed and adopted Kree-Lizard hybrid son was guarding her to the rest of the day which she found him very uncomfortable to be with him. For her, he was no longer the Amnon-Selah whom he had taken care of for two years. He was in full control of Kasius which his mind was altered as SCP-682. Carol wanted to convince and return him to his normality, but she couldn't since she was trapped inside the glass cell. Mai was just with her as she was still hiding under the elderly woman's clothes.

Just then, Amnon just gave her something to eat which his mother was not even eating or touching her food ever since. He angrily gritted his teeth and thought of taking his new weapon which it was given to Kasius. Carol indignantly stared at him while sitting on the floor and doing nothing.

" Why are you not eating the food?! " he sternly asked.

" You might put some poison which your master had ordered you, " she replied. " Besides, you don't even understand any word which I will tell you! You're manipulated! You're no longer my son! "

" You foolish disgusting..."

" You reflect your words to yourself, Kid! " Carol raised her voice as she instantly stood up and wept. The insect woman kept on listening and heavily sighed at the conversation. " I tried to take care and teach you many things you needed to learn! You just allow yourself to be that one whom you really despise! Why are you doing this?! "

Amnon angrily gritted his teeth and clenched his fingers as he felt offended to his mother's words. This time, he thought of ending her life, but he felt like he was holding back. Deep inside, he was lonely and hurt which his mother had sensed him.

" What's the matter, Kid?! Are you even hurt in hearing the truth?! Go ahead, kill me! You will never see the Kree Eternal in your whole life! You'll end up as a slave for that fool! "

" SHUT UP! "

" I won't shut up unless you have returned to your senses! Now leave me alone and GOODNIGHT! "

The Kree-Lizard boy sadly left his room as Carol heavily sighed and wept which she experienced this kind of argument with her son before. She knelt down on her knees which she felt horrible to fight back with her son. Moments later, Mai peeked at the old woman and noticed her crying when she jumped over and flew on to her shoulders. Carol noticed her younger friend coming out of her collar gently stepping on her shoulders.

" Carol, I'm so sorry for eavesdropping. I just heard what's happening with you and Amnon, " the insect Faunus calmly replied.

" I'm a terrible mother, Mai! I could have rescued him in Paris before, " she wailed. " He could have never been brainwashed like this! Why?! "

" Well... I don't know what to say, but I know there's a reason behind this. We don't even know what's really going with him, but I'm sure that he will return to his normal self. "

" I hope so..."

" Carol, he's going to be all right. But for now, you need to something to eat. I just smelled that your food is safe to eat, " Mai suggested.

" I don't have any appetite. I'm too old for..."

" Carol, you have to eat. Do it to save your life and add more years with Amnon. Come on..."

The old woman heavily sighed and smelled the food which she inspected it. Tasting it, she started to chew and ingest the meal. It took some time to finish as she shared with her insect Faunus friend. Mai joined with her in eating until, they both felt satisfied and full after dinner. Somehow, there was a little happiness in both of them, but still Carol was anxious of the death toll which she was facing.

" Lady, we just need to get some sleep, before we escape, " Mai suggested.

" Right, " Carol yawned and covered her mouth. " Goodnight..."

" Goodnight, Carol. "

Mai returned into half-Kree woman's collar as she dozed off to slumber. Carol lied down on the floor which she was closing her eyes and putting her mind away from worries. Sleep had visited the two at this time when the Kree and Lizard guards took their turns in guarding their elderly prisoner.

Just then, Carol quickly opened her eyes when she sat up and ended inside the room where darkness had covered it. The elderly half-Kree woman flickered her right fingers to form light. She walked around when darkness had shun away from her path and wondered how did she get into this place. Moving her head around, she noticed a tall hooded figure sitting on the ground. Carol walked closely and recognized the familiar figure which she curiously raised her eyebrows.

" Wait, is that him? " she thought. " How come this one has no lizard tail? Is my mind playing tricks on me?! " Carol approached the figure and called, " Hello? Are you hearing me here? "

The tall figure stood up and unveiled his hood. It revealed to be a pink-Kree man in his late twenties to early thirties. He had an uncanny resemblance to the Kree Eternal Methu-Selah along with his verdant irises in his both eyes. He had a fine short golden locks which Carol had the same hair color as his. The young Kree man dashed and instantly hugged her which the elderly woman gasped to see him.

" Mom! " he beamed.

" Amnon...is that really you? " she asked in shock. " I don't understand...How come you're..."

" Yes, I have been waiting for you here, It's going to be a long explanation to do so, " Amnon replied and smiled. " It's good to see you again..."

" What happened? Why did they manipulate you? "

" Well, I tried to fight back, but I couldn't...."

" You mean they took you, " Carol continued.

" Yes, it's a long story to tell, " he nodded and sadly sighed. " I'm still living here as a slave. I used to raid slave dens, before. Now, I ended up like being one of them. Then, I got brainwashed. Isn't it ironic?"

" Did you do something to escape? "

The young Kree man heavily sighed and remembered that day when he and his Lunivian elf friend never made to escape. Carol was curious of what happened which she really wanted to discover from her son. Amnon composed his thoughts and took him some time to respond when his mother waited. He was so hesitant enough to tell what the Supreme Intelligence had told him before.

" A friend was supposed to help me doing it, but we all failed. "

  " I understood why..."

" It's just I'm so desperate to go home. Mom, I don't want to experience hell, but...."

" Kid, Let's go home, " Carol hugged her son and wept. " Please! You have been longing to see me, your friends, and then your hero whom you have been looking for all over these years..."

" I just wanna go home, Mom! I can't take this anymore! " Amnon bitterly wept and tightly hugged his mother. " I really wanted to go home with you! "

" Then, come with me, Amnon! Please! Let's go home! "

" It's just I can't! "

" Why? Did Kasius ask you to stay? "

" No, Mom. It's something else, not just that monster and that overlord took over me! " he cried in reply and explained. " I'm sorry I can't join with you. There's something I need to do even I got manipulated. I need to spy on Kasius which the Kree Supreme Intelligence has ordered me to do. If you meet the Kree Eternal, tell him I will find a way to meet him. Just please wait for me, I know we'll reunite each other, someday."

" Amnon, please..." his mother paused and wept. " You need to see him! I'm going to face death soon! "

" Wait, maybe you can escape, right? You can go ahead and leave this place without me..." her son suggested and intently looked at his mother. Amnon had understood that Carol had the light soul along with her Kree powers which she had shown him before. " Mom, you can save yourself. Please just do it for me..."

" But...."

" You have to do this, mother. Please...."

" Kid, I can't leave without you! "

" I hope you will understand, Mom. Just please wait for me. I will be fine and find a way out of here. I don't know if I can meet Methu-Selah here, but you will. "

" Kid...."

" I'm sorry, Mom. I just need to follow Lord Supremor's orders against Kasius, " he replied. " We will see each other very soon. I know this for sure. "

" Amnon, I just want to know that I still love you no matter what, " Carol emotionally said. " I will always be your mother. "

" I love you too, Mom! Just wait for me... "

" I will..."

Carol opened her eyes when the imagery of the young pink-Kree man had vanished from her sight. Still, she ended up in the same glass containment cell which she thought of blasting her way out of here. Mai got surprised to see and quickly woke up from her slumber which she flew up.

" Carol, what the heck?! "

" Mai, I just dreamed about Amnon, " the elderly blonde replied. " He was talking to me. "

" Wait?! What?! " the insect Faunus raised her voice and got confused. " What's going on?! "

" Amnon just communicated me through dreams. He asked me to get out of here! "

" But what about him?! "

" I understood what he's going to do, but it's really hard to figure out why. "

" Oh...okay..." Mai nodded no furiously and shrugged. " I guess you can use your photon blast to break this cell. "

" Let me try this one. I haven't use this for decades, but it will drain me for sure. Honestly, I'm too old for this thing. "

" What do you mean? "

" Watch and learn, young lady..."

Carol took a deep breath and concentrated to unleash her light soul which she was radiating from her body to form her bright yellow Binary energy. Mai was flabbergasted in seeing the half-Kree elder doing it. Carol aimed and blasted the glass which it dismantled into pieces. Her young companion smiled and understood as she also saw the illuminating old lady blasting off the ceilings. The guards instantly woke up and saw the her fleeing away from the premise. They got alarmed and thought of following them. Mai and Carol instantly flew above New York City which they reached into the evening skies and left the city view.

" Lady, where are we going? " the insect Faunus asked.

" We're going back to France, " the Kree-hybrid replied. " We'll see your parents. "

" Oh, boy! I haven't seen them in years! I guess I'll be glad to see them again! "

" Yeah, " she slightly smiled and sighed as which Mai smiled.. " Lucky for you. "

" Don't worry, Carol. I know you and your son will reunite someday. "

" I hope so..."

(ROUEN, FRANCE: 3:00 AM)

Hours crossing Atlantic ocean, the two women had reached the forests of France near the mansion where Carol had lived for two years. She and Mai had descended which darkness and silence had greeted them. They decided to walk into the shadowy wilderness. The elderly half-Kree woman sadly sighed and remembered the first evening which she and her son met. Mai curiously looked at her and noticed her friend's sudden gloomy disposition.

" Carol? " the insect Faunus woman called her attention. " Are you okay? "

" This is the exact place where Amnon and I had met, " the half-Kree woman calmly spoke.

" I see. That's somehow memorable for the both of you...."

" Yeah. Anyway, I can guide you going to the mansion where we had lived. "

" Oh, that's good, " Mai nodded.

" Let's go and...." Carol paused and saw a familiar Kree man from a distance. " Wait...."

" Who?! "

The long silvery-white haired blue man approached the elderly blonde and hugged her. Carol never expected to meet which she knew Methu-Selah had been in Ethiopia for some time. Mai was astounded to see the Kree Eternal which she had never seen before. She watched the two hugging and leaned on the tree trunk as she sighed.

" Methie...I'm so sorry...." Carol bitterly wept. " Our son...he's no longer with us! It's all my fault! I could have...."

" Carol, I understood...." the Kree Eternal calmly replied. " We'll talk later. "
