Chapter 16

" What's done cannot be undone."

― William Shakespeare , Macbeth

(February 7, 2018: Belvedere Park, Los Angeles, CA, 2:15 PM)

The warm bright sun had been kissed by a cold Pacific breeze as it watched the humans roaming around the park. The serene greenery and rushing pristine manmade lake had attracted the tourists and locals alike. Finding the perfect spot for their private talk, Carol sat on the bench along with her old friend and thought of some questions for him. Mar-Vell was waiting for the right timing to speak up, even he was slightly drunk.

" Mar-Vell, is there something you can tell me? " the blonde half-Kree heroine curiously asked and looked concerned at him.

" Carol, I'm not even sure if you will believe me in this one, " he seriously broke his silence and kept fidgeting his fingers, sighing. " You may find it very ridiculous. I'm sure you will laugh at me. "

" Silly! How would I know if it's ridiculous?! " she chuckled. " Look, we have been friends for years now. You were once too serious, but I found your awkwardness and sense of humor. "

" It's just when you took over the mantle as Captain Marvel and went all out, " Mar-Vell vented out and crossed his forearms. " People got all their eyes on you and honored you like a queen! How about me?! I'm a useless piece of crap from another galaxy and waiting to die as a street rat in the City of Angels! Do you know how it feels to be nobody? Tell me! "

Carol felt guilty and heavily sighed upon hearing the homeless Kree's unleashed his hatred towards her former mentee. She couldn't think of any words to respond, instead she had to listen to him.

" I really don't know if you're gonna believe me, " he continued and rubbed his eyes, silently weeping. " You just took everything from me!"

" I'm really sorry..." she calmly broke her silence and gently patted the space alien without a roof. " I never meant to disown you, Mar-Vell. If you find me that I snag your whole life, but you helped me finding of what I am intended to be. I know you have been avoiding your previous life, but you still have a chance to be a hero on your own. "

Mar-Vell remained silent and sadly bowed his head which he sighed. He listened and tried to compose himself, realising his friend's words. It took time for him to bring back his senses and think of the words he could say. Carol looked at her old chum and placed her hands on her thighs, waiting for him to speak up.

" Mar-Vell? " she called his attention and curiously cocked her eyebrows.

" Carol, your words make any sense to me now, " he calmly broke his silence.

" What do you mean? "

" Remember you told me that I still have a chance to be a hero on my own? "

" Yeah, care to explain it? "

" But what if? "

" I won't listen to you? " Carol surmised. " No, I'm willing to listen. Go on. "

The homeless pink Kree took a deep breath and looked sincerely spoke, " It's pretty hard to explain, but I hope you will believe me. "

" What is it? "

" There's a physically abused boy in that Foundation facility's containment cell, Carol. That monster which the SHIELD people are talking about is the one who's making that kid experience such hardships. "

The blonde Avenger's eyebrows raised as she became intrigued and crossed her arms. She wanted to hear more of that revelation from her old friend.

" A boy? " she asked. " How come? Where did this story come from? "

" My greatest granduncle, the Kree Eternal, himself, " the space alien without a roof answered. " That boy was an experimental Kree Eternal-SCP 682 hybrid clone. He has lived in that containment cell for around eight months. My ancient relative has witnessed of that poor kid's torment. "

" Why would they ever do that? "

" I don't know. I wish I have more time to ask Great Uncle Methu everything. He asked me to take care of that kid once he escaped from that hellish facility. "

" I still wanted to know why that murderous lizard made that boy suffer. Another thing, why would the Foundation made a child as an experiment? " Carol seriously spoke. " They're depriving him the right of growing and living a normal life. "

" Those people think that the kid could be dangerous as that indestructible lizard, " Mar-Vell explained. " The Kree Eternal has really wanted to take his son away from 682 or anyone who harms him, but his human bosses won't allow my greatest granduncle to get near to that boy. "

" That's really horrible. "

" Indeed, it is. "

" Did SHIELD or MIB know of the Foundation's existence? "

" I don't even think so. "

" Mar-Vell, there's gotta be a way to expose this in public. We'd really need to spare that..."

" Carol, heck no! " Mar-Vell raised his voice, warning her. " If you do that, you'll be big in trouble! The Foundation is very shady and ruthless! The Kree Eternal has warned me not to disclose this secret to anyone! "

" Why is that? "

" He wants to protect the boy and himself from any public scrutiny and any threats in the future. Please don't tell anyone! That's thing you can help them. "

" How about you? How will you meet the boy? "

" I'm pretty sure he's gonna escape. I'm gonna meet him somewhere else, but not so sure how and when, " the Kree replied and scratched his beard. " I'm gonna take care of him before I die. "

" I guess you have decided to do that, " she commented.

" I'll do my part. Please do yours, too. SCP-682 needs to be stopped before he kills another victim. I don't want that boy to let see him see his abuser again. Please promise me not to tell that kid to anybody. "

" I will. "

(PRESENT TIME: ROUEN, FRANCE: 4:12 PM)

" So, Captain Mar-Vell was the first person who told you about Amnon's existence in that facility? " Skóuro curiously asked.

" Yes, he did, " Elder Carol Danvers nodded back at the dark angel from the MTF and held her son's journal.

" Did you know where he is right now? "

Carol sadly sighed and recalled that early morning when she had listened of Amnon's experience with his late cousin from fifty years ago. She tightly cluctched of her boy's written book and bowed her head. Skoúro noticed of the older half-Kree woman's mood and felt sorry for her.

" Carol, I'm so sorry, " she calmly said. " I shouldn't ask that..."

" No, he's already passed away ever since, " the old blonde woman gloomily replied. " He lived his final days with Amnon and taught him how to be free. Mar-Vell was a great hero and a friend for everyone in the universe. But for my son, he met his first family member before that former Kree soldier slipped away to his eternity. "

" I see, " the dark angel nodded and understood. " He was indeed a good person. I wished I have met him and saw how he took care of Amnon at that time. "

" I would have thanked him if he were still living with us until now. "

" Do you still have Amnon's story with Mar-Vell? " Skoúro asked. " I would like to read it even it's written in French, Russian, or English if you may. "

" I have kept a box of his written journals, " Carol answered and pointed a tall dark wooden cabinet in front of them. " You can check them out later. "

" Oh, right. Thank you, " she sincerely smiled and nodded. Recalling from the former Avenger's story, Skoúro heard of the name of Dr. Montmartre or Methu-Selah and thought of asking another question to the elderly lady. " By the way, Did you and the Kree Eternal have a chance to meet before this prolonged invasion? "

" No, I didn't. "

" Why? "

" Old Methu-Selah was used to work in that Foundation Facility before you met Amnon, " Carol replied. " He was using an alias, Dr. Jean Meir Montmartre. "

Skoúro found it hard to remember the name of a certain MTF scientist when she looked puzzled. She crossed her arms and deeply thought who the person really was. The Dark Angel had no memories from the past after she hibernated for five decades.

" I'm sorry, Carol, " she sadly sighed. " I don't even remember meeting him before nor the other Foundation scientist. "

" You still need more time to uncover more stories and truths of the past, " the elderly Kree hybrid answered.

" Can you tell me how did you meet the Kree Eternal? "

" My Australian boyfriend Tim had introduced me to Dr. Montmartre back in Remnant when I was four months pregnant to Ella. He was too wise and considerate when I met him. In those days, he revealed who he really was as Tim and I got surprised to see him, " she recalled.

" Surely, he had to do this to protect you, " Skoúro commented and queried. " But had he ever told you about his stories when he used to work in the Foundation? "

Carol remained silent and refreshed her memories of those conversations between her and that ancient blue Kree. She had known that the Kree Eternal had once worked in the Site 19 Foundation Facility. The elderly half-Kree was aware of that child being contained which she learned from her old friend and mentor.

" He did, " the retired heroine broke her silence. " Let me tell you what he had told me from my conversations with him. "

(February 7, 2018: Site 19 MTF Facility, California, United States of America: 4:20 PM)

A blonde bespectacled and moustached man in a white lab coat held a box of documents and walked around the corridor. The Foundation scientist in his late thirties to early forties noticed some MTF troopers coming and going to the area since he had understood of SCP-682's containment breach and bloody exploits on the outside world. One of the troopers was a brunette Finnish man in his late twenties who approached him after he prepared his belongings.

" Dr. Montmartre, " the trooper with a Scandinavian accent called him. " Commander Izaleith needs a scientist in this search and destroy the reptile mission. Are you coming with us? "

" I'm sorry, Volt, " Montmartre slightly smiled and replied. " I'm not even assigned in the field missions today. I have many important things to do. Laboratory. Documentation. "

" Too bad, you'll miss out the fun, " Volt chuckled and looked at the other MTF scientist. " Dr. Wright always joins us though. "

" Well, I hope he can catch up with your onslaughts even he's a research scientist, " he replied and gave the trooper a salute. " Surely, your mission will be a success! "

" Yes, sir!! "

Volt left the scientist and joined his troops into the vehicle. Dr. Montmartre had walked into the hallway and carried his box of very important documents where he was used to the eerie and silent environment of the facility. The French Foundation scientist reached the archives room where he was about to press the buttons on the door keypad. Just behind him, there was an MTF trooper who stood silently and revealed his long wavy raven locks and handsome facial features. The man was still wearing the battlesuit and kevlar. The blonde bespectacled one turned his attention to the armed personnel.

" Are you supposed to join with your troops for that mission? " he asked and raised his eyebrows while holding a box of documents.

" Dr. Montmartre, may I have a word with you? " the man with a smooth English accent replied. " You may recognize me this way. "

" Loki, what are you doing here? " Montmartre lowly queried, feeling bewildered. " Did the 05 Council know who you really are?! "

" I'm just like you, playing along with these despicable Midgardians of the Foundation, " Loki shrugged. " I knew you're the right person who I can talk to. "

" How long have you been in disguise and working here? "

" At least, three years, " the Asgardian god of mischief grinned and raised his left hand in interjection. " I've heard some of the personnel here that you've been working here for fifteen years, not bad of a Kree Eternal in disguise who spends time in the four corners of this concrete and metallic glorified garbage. "

Loki chuckled at his sarcastic remark when Dr. Montmartre or Methu-Selah heavily sighed and facepalmed at his friend. The disguised Kree Eternal gave him a stern look and asked, " Now, what do you really want? "

" A very serious talk, " the god of mischief responded after he stopped laughing and changed his tone into a serious one. " This is about your proto-Project Marvel subject aka your hybrid son. He is tremendously suffering from those severely constant experimentations and repetitive beatings from SCP-682. Can you even do something about it? "

Methu-Selah felt ashamed and heavily sighed at his Asgardian friend's words. He bowed his head down as he really wanted to act immediately.

" I am still trying to convince the chief scientist and the 05 Council! " the Kree Eternal bursted and angrily gritted his teeth, letting out his burdens from his chest. " I have been raising several requests for eight months to separate my son from those dangerous SCP objects and give him a humane treatment. I even asked them to put me in charge for my son's fair custody, but they refused to listen to me! I am still his creator as I have predicted his future ever since! How stubborn they are! They are just like my own people from planet Hala! All of them never take heed of warnings! "

" I know how you feel..."

" Exactly! They don't even care to have a serious word with me and brush me off! I had no choice but to see my child facing his death sentence. How about me? Don't go near to that hybrid clone. Do your research observation, and documentation as if that it's business as usual?! How dare they?! If only I have a chance to physically meet my son, not watching him through a clear window. "

Loki listened and gently patted his Kree Eternal's back. He understood his friend's prolonged frustration to the ways of the SCP Foundation. He was composing his thoughts before he could speak up. Methu-Selah took a deep breath to pacify himself.

" I'm sorry that they gave you a hard time to be with your boy, " Loki sincerely answered. " Look, Methu. I know you're trying your best to secretly keep an eye on your son and following the 05 Council's orders. As his father, would it be the best thing for you to physically interact, raise him on your own, and leave this planet for your peace and sanity? "

" It is my original intention for him, " the Kree Eternal sadly spoke.

" The Midgardians here in the Foundation Facility has done terrible acts to him. For eight damn months, you are being compromised by their own wishes and playing safe. You are the highest form of the Kree race, my friend. You have the right to spare your child before any horrible SCP object would harm him. I know you have predicted your son's future. You must act now, if I were you. If you need my help to get him escape, just let me know. "

" Loki, I need to tell you something. "

" Well, what is it my friend? "

" Just this morning, I met my greatest grandnephew Mar-Vell and his friend, Xenocide. I know you will be assigned to hunt 682 one of these days, " Methu-Selah replied.

" Yes, definitely. I might encounter him and perhaps will meet my brother Thor, anytime soon. "

" I need you to do me a favour. "

" Have you predicted that beforehand? How can I help? "

" I need you to divert the MTF people's attention very soon. A certain facility personnel with blackened wings who will help my son to get freed, " the disguised Kree Eternal answered.

Loki nodded and understood what his Kree friend meant, " Right. I know exactly what to do when that time comes. "

" Good. "

" Methu, I forgot to ask you something, " the raven haired Asgardian god of mischief pointed at the box and asked. " What are you holding? "

" You mean this one? " Methu-Selah looked at what he was carrying and responded." These are the files about my son along with my future plans for him. The worst comes to the worst, they should be kept hidden and secured. If anyone finds them, they should find out what I have intended for him."

" Well, what do you mean? "

" Months from now, my own race will invade this planet along with another race. They will enslave and slaughter this entire population. My son will suffer tremendously as he gets into them. "
