Chapter 45
" In my experience, fear comes from not knowing what to expect and not feeling you have any control over what's about to happen. When you feel helpless, you're far more afraid than you would be if you knew the facts. "
- Chris Hadfield
(Rouen, France, 1:00 PM)
Elder Carol Danvers woke up in the afternoon which she had slept late. She sat on the bed which she stretched up looking around the room. The elderly half-Kree lady turned her head around when her son was not on the bed. She stood up and turned around, looking for him.
" Where on Hala is that kid?! " she anxiously thought. " Don't tell the MTF Troopers or those enemies are after him again! "
Carol went every room and asked every resident which she spent searching. Until, she found him on the study room and sighed in relief. The woman saw her son reading and writing documents in English which he translated them in Russian.
" Kid, what the hell?! " she exclaimed. " I didn't know you're here! "
The boy shushed at his mother as he busily finished writing his last sentence in Cyrillic alphabet. Carol wryly smiled and waited for her son when she took a seat. The Kree-Lizard boy had set aside his translation job and looked at the elderly blonde woman.
" I'm sorry I need to finish this, " he said. " Yesterday, Jared just gave me those documents from Dr. Vandark who I met back in Ukraine. It's all about ghosts and some strange entities aside from our enemies.
" Is this before I met you? "
" Yes, " the boy nodded and changed the topic. " Mom, you woke up very late. How come? "
" Kid, I had read your journey from Russia while you were sleeping. I have discovered some interesting parts of your journey, " she replied. " Oh, by the way, I met some old friends back in Remnant. "
" Your old friends? "
" Yeah, we spent talking. That's why I went sleepless. "
The boy nodded and smiled as he understood what his mother had mentioned, but he was curious of what did she and her friends had talked about at the wee hours in the morning. He raised his eyebrows and noticed the elderly half-Kree's sudden silence.
" Mom, is there something you want to talk about? "
" No, Kid..." she nervously chuckled. " Well...I think I needed something to eat while you want to tell me something later. "
" I'll get you something to eat. I'll be right back, " he smiled and nodded.
The boy left the room as Carol waited for him to return. She curiously looked and read at her son's writings in Russian which she wanted to know. There were articles about spirits wandering in Ukraine. The old blonde lady thought of asking him about what he had translated and written about.
Thinking about the Project Marvel subject, she wanted to disclose it to her son, but she was unsure and afraid in how the hybrid boy would react. She deeply sighed and turned around as she saw him with a tray of the leftover meal from lunch. It was a bowl of bread with a soup. Just beside it, there was a glass of water for her to drink.
" Mother, it's time to eat! " he called as Carol smiled at him.
" Thank you, my dear son, " she smiled back and received her meal as she began to eat.
" You seem so apprehensive, mom. Is there something wrong? "
" Kid, do the MTF people still hunt you aside from your detractors? "
" I don't know. Maybe before. "
" Secondly, have you ever experienced troubles on your way to France? "
" Several times. " the boy seriously answered. " Why are you asking those? "
" I'm just concerned, Kid, " his mother held his left hand using her right hand. " I have been sleepless, recently. "
" Why? "
" My friend got almost killed in Ethiopia, " Carol replied after she sipped the soup. " I don't know if he's okay or what. If that happens to you, Kid, I become anxious. "
" Well, before I met you, I experienced dangers all the way, " he replied. " I'm sorry for what happened to your friend. Someday, you will meet and see him safe. "
" I know. Can you tell me of your story? "
" Sure. "
(TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO: MT. HOVERLA, UKRAINE)
The Kree-Lizard boy spent his travel on foot for days all the from Russia. Talking with other people in Russian, they got frightened as they knew a deadly lizard was from a former Soviet country which they avoided and ignored him. Some of them thought he was a Russian speaking spy from the enemy side. He had no choice, but to avoid seeing people. For several days into months, the boy was not happy for what he had experienced. He followed a trail of cargo trucks going to the nearby towns and ended up in a province near the famous mountain.
It was afternoon when he stayed on the grounds and started climbing like he did with his two mutant friends at the Ural mountains. While hiking around, he was looking for people from this place. The hybrid was on his way to the middle of the mountain and feeling exhausted.
" Privet, kto-nibud' yest'? (Hello, is anyone there?)" he yelled. " Privet?! "
The boy's voice echoed around the place. Still, there was no response from the area as he sadly sighed and continued hiking. The air was chilly. The surrounding area had an eerie silence to it. Even the animals were non present at times.
" Privet, kto-nibud' yest'? (Hello, is anyone there?)" he kept yelling. " Privet?! "
A red ball bounced into view and stopped at his feet. He looked around suspiciously as he picked the ball up. There was no one around. All was silent.
" Chto eto? Ey, pozhaluysta, pokazhis', kto by ty ni byl! (What's this? Hey, please show up, whoever you are!) " he cried as the air echoed his voice.
The ball grew a face and chuckled evilly. The hybrid boy threw the ball and quickly ran away. He was running to reach the top of the mountain. He panted and felt his heart quickly pounding. Remembering his cosmonaut training days, he and Enenra made his jogging sessions in the morning. The Kree-Lizard hybrid never realized he became faster in his usual exercise. Reaching his way to the summit, the sun began to set. The boy became more anxious as he heard voices. Then, he saw a strange looking sculpture with four arms from a distance, blocking his way to the top of Mt. Hoverla. He even remembered it showed-up in one of his nightmares.
Its hands had fresh but dried blood on them...or so it seemed. The wind began to pick up its speed. An eerie sound that sounded like female singing hit his ears.
" Net ... net ... pozhaluysta, derzhis' podal'she! Derzhis' podal'she!! (No...no...please stay away! Stay away!!)" he cried.
The statue had a mark on its chest resembling a claw strike from an animal. The mark was black as if the surface of its chest had been burned with the mark. The wind blew across the ground cold and slightly howling.
" Derzhis' podal'she! DERZHIS' PODAL'SHE! (Stay away! STAY AWAY!) "
The statue just stood there like a mismatched and ugly yard decoration. A little black bird landed on its head then immediately got nervous and flew away. The boy decided to run away as he thought of returning to the direction where he had gone. He ended up lost which he couldn't find his way back. He leaned on the tree and quickly panted. The Kree-Lizard hybrid boy turned his head around.
" There's no one who could help me here, " he sadly thought. " No one in this country! I wished I never left Star City in Moscow! "
A light shot into the sky in the distance. It was obviously artificially made its blue and crimson beam piercing the sky. The boy became more afraid and anxious. He looked at the bodies of deceased slaves, rebel forces, Kree, and Lizards where this place served as their final resting place. The hybrid quickly ran away and went back to where he saw the statue. He began to step away from the spot and slowly walking. The sculpture remained immobile as the boy again heard voices as he blinked his both eyes and covered head.
Without his knowledge, the Kree-Lizard boy got strangled and choking as the sculpture immediately moved and used his four arms to tightly snap the boy's neck. The hybrid struggled to break free and lose his breath. His sight was darkened as he closed his eyes and fell to the ground. The boy's hopes and dreams of seeing the Kree Eternal somewhere else. The sculpture watched him dying and quickly left.
Suddenly, a man in his late thirties wearing a lab coat and glasses hiked to the mountain utter shock on his face at the fact another person was even around. He rushed to see the victim and approached. The man saw a Kree-Lizard hybrid boy and checked his pulse.
" Another victim...this time, male, " he anxiously thought. " So, those enemies, some mysterious entities, or the spirits had killed him. I better find out how to revive him. "
The man took the boy away into safety before anyone could find them. The skies turned darker when the stars and the moon guided them to their next destination.
(FIVE DAYS LATER)
The boy slowly opened his eyes and moved his head around. He found himself strapped with functioning life-support apparatus and tried to sit-up, but a man in a lab coat entered his room. He widened his eyes and thought the man was one of the MTF people who chased him in his years in America and Canada. Now, he really wanted to leave this place.
" K-Kto ty?! (Who are you?!) " he tremblingly cried. " Chego ty khochesh' ot menya?! (What do you want from me?!) "
" I'm sorry, I don't understand and speak Russian and Ukrainian, " the man calmly spoke.
" Y-you speak English?! Are you part of the MTF, Kree, or Lizards? Tell me!! "
" Yes, I speak that language. It's nothing around here but spirits and monsters. "
" I don't understand. What's going on?! "
" You died five days ago, " the man instantly replied as the boy widened his eyes in shock and remained speechless. " But something within you has kept you alive which I have observed you in five days. By the way, what were you doing there? "
" I was lost in the mountain and I saw that strange thing with four arms. Then, I ran away and saw more dead bodies all over. I fled and that thing found me. I blinked my eye and I didn't know what happened. The last time I ended up seeing more strange people going in darkness going to a tunnel of light. "
" You have been to the afterlife, boy, " the man replied.
" Afterlife? What is that?! "
" It's place where the dead are going. You have returned to life. "
" You mean... I died for five days?! I thought I was made to be indestructible like 682...I don't understand?! What's going on?! What am I?! "
The man understood the boy's confusion, reached into his coat pocket, and pulled out a chocolate bar handing it and patting the hybrid boy's head, " I do apologize for that you experience. You really need answers. By the way, I am Dr. Jusis Vandark, a scientist of the supernatural world and phenomena. I pity you for being here. Your name is? "
" My friends call me, Svet for I am a nameless one. I have come all the way from Russia going to France. " he replied. " I'm looking for the Kree Eternal. "
The Kree-Lizard hybrid received the chocolate bar as he felt his stomach was grumbling. He carefully opened it and began to eat. Vandark looked at the boys tail and lizard like features.
" Are you a spirit yourself? Just curious. "
" No... I'm a clone of that mad lizard. But when I get bleeding, my blood is not red, but blue like the Kree. "
" Interesting, a lizard boy with blue Kree blood. You're something else, Svet. "
Vandark intently looked at the boy's scars and wounds which he got intrigued by its unusual color. Then, he looked at his humanoid face with scales. The paranormal scientist pulled a note book out his coat and began jotting down notes his face excited. The boy raised his eyebrows as he got curious of the man's facial expressions.
" Have you encountered the Kree Eternal before, Dr. Vandark? " he asked.
Vandark looked up quickly, " Hmm? No, but there are freaky things up here at night. Anyway, let's get something to eat. We can find in my lab's pantry. "
" Oh...okay..." he nodded as the scientist helped him out to take off the apparatus. The boy followed him when he stood-up from the bed.
As they walked around, the boy looked some articles written in Ukrainian and photos which they showed a few bodies two male and one female their necks had been snapped and their bodies were starting to decompose. Vandark shook his head sadly as the Kree-Lizard hybrid bowed his head.
" More victims...this mountain is going to be over run with Mavka at this point. So many unnatural deaths of females and then some males. "
" Did the Kree and Lizards let anyone die here? " he asked. " I have heard the stories from the rebel forces which they took slaves who tried to fight against the tyrants and died. I was once who joined and fought against them. Then I got drowned into the sea before I ended up in Russia. "
Vandark sighed and pointed to a pile of Kree soldier bodies along with some lizards on a from another picture their necks had also been snapped, " They also do not make it up here. That freaky statue appeared up here two months ago. It moves you know...and...kills. Perhaps, you were also its victim. "
" Yet, I wonder, " he muttered.
The scientist laughed nervously and continued, " Then about a week ago, something strange occurred with the statue. Normally, it moves when not looked at. But when I approached it, The statue did not give chase despite the sun being in my eyes. So, I investigated it and noticed a burned in claw mark on its chest that had previously not been seen. This mark according to further research by me has robbed it of its ability to move during the day!"
" Weird..."
" It is indeed weird. The deaths of those people gave rise to the Mavka. I wonder how did that statue come here in the first place. "
" I have seen that statue once, but I asked it to stay away, " he answered and looked around the place. " Still, its appearance had haunted me. "
" Creepy creation, whatever it is, " Vandark nodded. " Anyway, it would be hard to sneak up on someone when you are a walking torch, huh? "
" Walking torch? I don't get it..."
" It's very complicated to understand, Svet, " he smiled.
The sound of a horse echoed in the distance its galloping sound getting closer. The two stood near the window and heard from the outside when Vandark grabbed the hybrid and covered both of their eyes. A giant figure in armor rode by on the horse its breathing heavy despite having no head. It stopped and turned its body to them, then galloped away at a fast pace.
" Do not look! it is rude! " he warned and sighed in relief. " That was a Bezgolovyy Upadok or the Headless Blight in English. A traveler that died defending someone he cared about but failed to protect, a variant of the Dullahan. Looking at one up close is rude and will result in death. "
The boy didn't look as he just heard what the scientist explained. Vandark uncovered their eyes and handed the hybrid a juice box as he himself pulled the straw off the back of his.
" After this, I find a drink of juice to be a comforting beverage."
They drank and walked into another concrete building when they left from where they stayed for five days. Its features worn and beat as if a war had happened near it. Broken robots and some metal scraps were strewn about in a messy fashion. The hybrid looked around in awe.
" What happened here? " he asked as Vandark beckoned him to follow inside.
" This place was once owned by a government corporation calling itself the Foundation. There are documents of strange things and creatures here. Some of which, I have never seen. Some of the rooms look like they once contained something, but are now empty. It is extraordinarily fascinating for my line of work. No one was here so I set up shop. Although I did find a few bodies, when I got here. The Kree and the Lizards must have taken so much lives. "
He walked into a lab with high bookshelves and jars containing hands, hearts, lungs and skulls of various beasts with elongated teeth. Vandark flipped a switch turning on his tesla coil power system flooding the building with lights as power for the building flipped on. Vandark's hair flared up like a mad scientist from the initial static making him laugh cheerfully as he pulled a comb out of his coat pocket and began to comb his hair back down.
" Man, I hate that part! " he laughed combing his hair quickly and pointed to a bean bag chair in the corner of the room. " Relax for a bit, Svet. What's mine is yours. Are you hungry? "
" Da, " he nodded and wryly smiled when the Kree-Lizard boy looked at the documents. " But I can't read English, I only read things written in Russian. I considered myself a wandering cossack since I am trying to remove this monster who makes nightmares running in my head. "
Vandark walked him to the cafeteria and sat him down as he headed to a coffee machine with oddly enough some kind of input mechanism on the front.
" So, everything's working here, " the boy wondered. " In the towns and cities, I have been gone, were destroyed and corrupted. I saw women of different races being traded by the Kree and the Lizards. Some struggled for hardwork. The others died. "
Vandark smirked as he typed chicken soup into the input pad making the machine whir and dispense hot soup into paper cups, " Well, this place is getting its power supplied by old school technology. Ah Tesla, you sly dog.... free electricity."
" I'm so sorry if I saw bad things happening around and shared them to you. " he slightly smiled. " But one thing I got happier was my cosmonaut training before I left Russia. "
" You are not pulling my leg, are you?! A young one like you doing cosmonaut traning? I guess you have to have a sense of humor these days, huh?! " the paranormal scientist eyed him with an odd smile and loudly laughed.
The boy took off his tunic and revealed the blue jumpsuit which astronauts used to wear. Vandark got surprised to see him and stopped laughing.
" I'm telling the truth, " he seriously spoke. " If I go to space and find the Kree Eternal, I can fly a Soyuz spacecraft and spend years there. But my friends told me to go to France and meet him, first. I know my dreams are too impossible and hard to understand, but I'm willing to take off 682's memories in whatever I do. "
The boy sadly sighed and looked at the scientist. Vandark pondered and scratched his chin. Then, his eyes got lit up as he pulled out a small light often used at a doctor's office and shined it in one of the hybrid's eyes while holding his head still.
" Fascinating!!! You have memories that are not yours! How fascinating! "
The Kree-Lizard hybrid felt uneasy from what the scientist was doing. His actions were reminiscent to those MTF scientists who observed and experimented him more than two decades ago. He never intended to bring them harm, but this time he thought of speaking-up. The Kree-Lizard became more suspicious of what Vandark was acting.
" Well, are you really getting my point? You told me you had observed me for five days? Why are you doing that again? " the boy sternly asked. " It seems you're not understanding me at all. You just check everything from me. I'm sorry if I offend you. It's just I have seen a lot of things and met some people. Good or Bad ones. I just really need someone who could I trust to. I have just left friends along the way. I don't know if you could help me. "
Vandark frowned and sighed, "I understand, Svet. I'm sorry too if I make you uncomfortable. I can be a little enthusiastic. I do not know where this Kree Eternal is, but he sounds fascinating too. There are such wonders in this world not all of them bad and I want to study them all. I'm sorry you have been through a lot. It must have been hard for you..."
" Everyone thinks I'm that monster, but my friends from the Rebel Forces and the others treat me as a family member, " he replied. " Secondly, I have been chased, killed, drowned, and stalked by the bad ones. I lost a girlfriend in Canada and fell in love with a new one in Russia, but I left her for this journey. Yes, indeed. This world has wonders, but darkness covers it. That's why I have seen bad things despite there are good. "
" I get your point now, " Vandark nodded and thought hard for a second. Then all of a sudden he smacked his forehead " Ah, of course! How could I forget! I knew I had heard the term Kree Eternal before!! About two months ago, a strange but cheerful man of regal stature came through this area. This man caused areas of weirdness in a tight area around him. Curiously, I asked him what he was doing as an excuse to examine the fact that the grass around him had just morphed into popcorn. He said something about finding some kind of Kree being of great power around here. "
" You saw him! Really?! " the boy exclaimed in wonder. " Tell me, did he bleed the same blood color which I have? "
" No, this guy looked human and something about him was off..ah yes he said his name was Psychowrath or something I was distracted by the weirdness happening around him... I think he might have been extraterrestrial."
The boy sadly sighed as he was hoping to see the one who was looking for. Vandark deeply thought as he heard some rumors of the Kree Eternal looking for his missing son in years. He intently looked at the boy's eyes which are too far different from SCP-682. They were both human like. A tapping noise was heard on the walls of the building. Jusis Vandark changed his look to serious and bolted from his chair running down the hall towards the security room.
" It's back again..." he muttered.
" What should I do? " the Kree-Lizard asked.
The paranormal scientist began checking the cameras frantically until he stopped on a feed of the left side of the building. The feed showed a blue Kree woman yelling in Ukrainian from the corpse hill and banging into the wall of the building. She was raging and attempting to break the walls. Her clothes was soiled with blue blood as her neck was broken, but she was able to regenerate it after her death. The boy seemed to be more afraid in dealing with an undead like her.
Remembering those times in facing his fears, he decided to confront her and took a deep breath in pacifying himself. The boy took a pistol loaded with bullets and thought of protecting the scientist. He remembered how he had target shooting in days at the Rebel Forces which he got trained to do so.
" Let me do this, " he spoke.
Vandark ran back to the lab and tried to turn on two spare Tesla coil generators but they sputtered feebly.
" Damn it, if we could just supply the outside building lights with power, we could drive it away! The one who got possessed by a Mavka hates bright lights due to its cursed status! She might get in! "
" The Kree and the Lizards destroyed the power supply in this country, " he answered. " I just heard the people's rumors before I got here. "
The paranormal scientist understood and threw what appeared to be a regular flashlight at him, " If you decide to face that possessed, then take this." Then he handed him heavy duty sunglasses, "and these..."
" I need to face my fears, " he thought and smiled. " Thanks! "
The Kree-Lizard held his flashlight and pistol to confront his fears. Vandark was behind him. Vandark gathered up some things and began mixing vials of liquid
" Are you coming with me? " he asked.
" As soon as I can, I will. Keep that thing busy for now. I have a plan that might end this once and for all. "
The boy held his flashlight on his right hand and a pistol on his left. Even he was still afraid, he tried to manage himself to be brave enough. A voice chuckled in one of the dark rooms of containment as red eyes peered through the reinforced silver plated glass.
" You could just let me out so I can handle it... I'll keep you safe! " he evilly laughed.
Vandark shot the eyes a dirty look and answered in contempt, " No, Tackran we do not need your help. You can rot in there!!"
The boy heard the voice and thought of protecting the scientist. He pointed the corner using his flashlight and ready to pull the trigger. Tackrans' eyes narrowed in fear and covered them.
" Watch where you point that thing, you moron! " he angrily exclaimed.
He pulled the trigger, shot Tackran's legs, and pointed the flashlight. The attacker yelled in fear and pain.
" I'm sorry I have to do this, " he seriously spoke and shot another.
" Oh, I'm the bad guy, huh?! This scientist has me trapped in this building and won't let me out, but I'm not the victim! " the prisoner yelped backing away slightly.
" If you're trying to harm anyone, then we'll hurt you. If not, then you can come with us. "
The flashlight which the boy pointed by his left hand on revealing that Tackran was trapped in a cell and only appeared to be near the scientist. The Kree-Lizard hybrid moved his head around and became more suspicious at the two. This time, he started to doubt the scientist and the prisoner. He still held his pistol on his right hand.
" Oh? So, we are just attacking prisoners! Where exactly would I go, genius? I'm trapped in this cell! "
" Look, I need some answers here. If you two are going to cooperate with me, then let me know. " the hybrid replied. " I'm going to ask questions. "
Vandark scoffed and grabbed his vials walking beside the hybrid towards the door, " We won't need his help! We cannot trust a lying spirit like him. He probably killed the scientists here and released the statue! "
Tackran glared at the scientist, " No, I worked here and died in the stupid invasion! You should know I only attacked you because you moved my body smart ass! "
The Kree-Lizard boy remained silent and listened at the two men arguing. He became more suspicious if he could trust either of the two. He thought of a question which they would call their attention.
" If you two are telling the truth, did you encounter the Kree Eternal before? " he asked and pointed his pistol at them.
Vandark shook his head and raised his both hands, dropping the syringe and some vials, " I heard the name but never met him. I told you that already, Svet! "
Tackran grinned, " I may know something..."
" Now, tell me..."
" I may be more chatty if you let me out." he said with sarcasm and pointed to the lock on the cell door. The Kree-Lizard shot the lock as Tackran smiled.
" Don't do anything stupid, " he sternly reminded when the prisoner flew out of the room and headed for the door.
" So long, ass hats! " he cried gleefully. As he approached the front of the building, he hit an invisible wall and fell on his rear swearing a storm. The boy shot Tackran down from the window, quickly grabbed and brought him inside. He put prisoner on the sofa and immediately mended his wounds after he took the first aid. Tackran's wounds healed themselves and he sat up shocked.
" Geez, kid! Don't worry, your stupid gun can't kill me! "
" I'm used to do this back in the Rebel Forces and Cosmonaut training days, " he replied and facepalmed at him. " Like I said before, DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID! You tried to escape and promised me to tell the Kree Eternal. What were you thinking?! "
Tackran nervously laughed and then sighed as he sat down. Jusis Vandark glared at the prisoner, crossed his arms, and gritted his teeth angrily, " Don't bother with the first aid! Tackran is already dead, a ghost of his former self! "
" Keep quiet, " he glared. " I'm going to ask you later. "
The prisoner looked into the hybrid's eyes making his head feel fuzzy as Vandark tackled Tackran to the ground.
" Possession! Really, Tackran! "
The boy was annoyed at the two as he fired the ceiling. Tackran and Vandark ceased fighting.
" If you two won't behave, I'll bring this building down into ashes. " he sternly answered.
The lights in the hallway dimmed as a blue glow emitted from down the hall, getting brighter.
" Well, while you two have been hindering my escape, I think and this is just an educated guess that the statue or the possessed lady may have gotten into the building..." the prisoner sarcastically replied.
" Now, Did you encounter the Kree Eternal? Yes or No? " he calmly asked and turned to Tackran. The prisoner was thinking of answers and recalling of hearing the rumors of the mysterious Kree's son. " Please answer my question. "
Tackran watched the blue glow getting brighter. The boy was still pointing his gun to them. Vandark remained silent and waited for any response.
" Is this really the time for such questions?" he asked frantically. " I mean I'm already dead, so it doesn't really matter to me. But I take it, you two do not want to die right and I need your help to even leave. "
" Yes, I'll be needing your help as well. "
Tackran sighed and nodded as Vandark was still silent. The prisoner looked for files of the mysterious Kree. The boy waited and guarded the two. Finally, he looked at Tackran as the prisoner found the details of the Kree Eternal from the files written in Russian. He intently read every article which it dated back from the 19th to 20th century which he found out that the Kree man took disguises to blend in the society. The last article was dated back in 1945 where the Kree Eternal used a French alias, donating a sum of money to a church in Paris.
" Thank you..." he smiled and wept when he rubbed his eyes as Vandark curiously looked at him. " I know where to go now. I'm going to Paris and continuing my search for him. "
The blue glow got very bright as the deceased Kree woman began to ram herself into walls as if she was in pain all over again. Her hands was on blue fire blazing bright totally ignoring the three people near her. She was loudly screaming when the boy changed his reaction by widening his eyes in fear.
" VY ZEMLYATY ZMERYTY! (YOU EARTHIANS MUST DIE!) "
" What language is that? " the boy asked.
" Ukrainian! " Vandark replied. " I don't communicate that language! Perhaps, you can try to talk to her. "
" But I only speak Russian! "
" Just try it! "
The Kree-Lizard boy again took a deep breath to calm himself down and compose his thoughts. The dead Kree woman menacingly grinned and maniacally laughed at him. Tackran and Vandark turned to him and waited for the conversation.
" Madam, pozhaluysta, nam nuzhny otvety ot vas. Pochemu ty zdes'? Chto vam nuzhno? (Madam, please we need answers from you. Why are you here? What do you need?) " he politely asked.
" YA ne znal neunichtozhimoy yashcheritsy, kak ty govorish' po-russki! Kak interesno absurdno! (I didn't know an indestructible lizard like you can speak Russian! How interestingly absurd!) " she yelped.
" Mne nuzhen pryamoy otvet ot vas, madam. Chto vam nuzhno? (I need a straight answer from you, madam. What do you need?) "
" MEST'! Vy, lyudi Zemli, vypustili statuyu, chtoby ubit' moyu rasu i vash rod! (Vengeance! You Earthians released that statue to kill my race and your kind!) " she explained. " Vy khotite svergnut' plany imperii kri! Vy ubili nashikh soldat i nashikh soyuznikov, ispol'zuya etu statuyu! Teper' vashi lyudi takzhe vovlecheny v novyye smertel'nyye sluchai! YA byl zhertvoy etoy anomalii dve nedeli nazad!(You want to overthrow the plans of the Kree Empire! You killed our soldiers and our allies using that statue! Now, your people are also involved from more deaths! I was a victim of that anomaly two weeks ago!) "
" Slushay, ya proshu proshcheniya za to, chto s toboy sluchilos'. YA tozhe zhertva etoy statui. YA umer pyat' dney nazad. Prosto skazhi nam, kak ubit'. Mne nuzhno znat' vashe imya v pervuyu ochered'. (Look, I apologize for what happened to you. I'm a victim of that statue, too. I died five days ago. Just tell us how to kill. I need to know your name first.) "
" Tebe nuzhno moye imya togda. YA Minn-Erva, pogibshiy soldat Khala! YA byl svidetelem tvoyego prisutstviya na gore i smerti ot statui! (You need my name then. I am Minn-Erva, the lost soldier of Hala! I witnessed your presence on the mountain and death by the statue!) "
The Kree-Lizard hybrid got startled when he recalled and heard of what the possessed Kree woman had said. Minn-Erva was the one who haunted him on his way to the mountain before he got killed by the statue. She was the mysterious female voice which it caused him to cower. This time, Minn-Erva confronted him and thought of not helping the boy.
" Ty khot' dumayesh', chto ya sobirayus' pomoch' tebe, mal'chik? Kak vy naivny! (Do you even think I'm going to help you, Boy? How naive you are!) " she sneered. " YA khochu unichtozhit' tebya, vmesto etogo! (I want to destroy you, instead!) "
" What did she say? " Vandark asked.
" Her name is Minn-Erva. She got killed by the same statue, " the Kree-Lizard replied. " She wanted vengeance against the people who released it. It killed alot of people who came here! "
" I knew it! She is one of the Mavka! "
" Dammit! " Tackran angrily muttered. " I supposed to kill that Kree when I was living! Now, what?! "
Minn-Erva was evilly laughing and releasing the blue fire from her hands. The boy deeply took his breath and wore his sunglasses. He checked at the bullets. It was the only one left. He never wanted to use it.
" This time, I need your help, the both of you, " he said and turned to the two as he sensed danger. " This Kree woman is no longer redeemable. We need to stop her. "
" UMIRAY, VY ZEMLI! (DIE, YOU EARTHIANS! ) "
Tackran phased through the floor and moved under the possessed blue lady while under the floor and grabbed her legs, holding her in place. Vandark nailed her head on with a vial freezing her with ice and making her movements slow to a crawl.
" VY DURAKI! (YOU FOOLS!) " Minn-Erva growled and struggled to move.
The boy had no choice but to use his last bullet as he triggered the pistol and shot the woman's chest. The Kree woman cracked heavily from the damage and broke the ice and Tackran's grip. She began breaking out from shock when Minn-Erva growled like a roaring lion and turned to the boy, strangling him just like the statue did before. The Kree-Lizard boy was struggling to break free. Minn-Erva intently glared at the hybrid's green irises and blue scar on his left side of his face.
" Ty govoril kak predatel', Methu-Selah. Vy unasledovali yego glaza i otvratitel'noye litso, dazhe yego golubuyu krov' Kri. Vy sil'no otlichayetes' ot 682, no ya mogu mgnovenno ubit' vas, prezhde chem ya poluchu etogo starika! (You spoke like the traitor, Methu-Selah. You inherited his eyes and disgusting face, even his blue Kree blood. You're far different from 682, but I can instantly kill you before I get that old man!) " she evilly grinned and readied to break his neck.
" NIKOGDA! (NEVER!) " he angrily muttered and turned the flashlight on its bright blue and crimson beam illuminating the hall and most of the building forcing all three to cover their eyes. Minn-Erva yelled in excruciating pain as she left the boy. Her blue fire quickly dulled and went out as she stopped moving and fell down in peace.
Tackran intently looked at the boy as he reminded of someone when he was alive. The hybrid walked over to them. The prisoner thought of something before he could speak while looking at him. Vandark sighed in relief as he smiled.
" It's finally over, " he replied with a smile. " I have to go. "
The prisoner phased his right hand into the crack on the dead Kree woman's head punching a hole from her whole body and out its back causing the corpse to crumble and rubble which it took three hours for him. Finally, it turned into ashes.
" Just in case..." he said evilly.
" Are you two going to say something before I go? " he asked. " Anyway, I do appreciate your help. "
Vandark dusted his jacket off and replied, " If you're going to France, you might want to take some food and water with you. I mean I have some extra in the basement."
" Spasiba! " the boy replied.
" And if you could wait a bit, I could translate those documents. We found from English to Russian for you, if you'd like me too."
" Perhaps, I could recruit you into the Rebel Forces. We need more men like you to continue the resistance, " he smiled and gently patted the scientist's back. " But I need your help to contact my friends back in Star City. They might consider you there to work for them. Yes, I will help you translate those. " Then he looked at Tackran as the prisoner smiled and reminded the boy of the Kree Eternal to the way he spoke. " Why are you looking at me like that?! "
" It's because I just figured out who you are, SCP!" the prisoner evilly grinned and laughed.
" You know, I may be different from that mad monster, " he sighed and looked at the bright yellow star from the window. " But I have my own life to settle. Anyways, thank you. You're free to go now. "
Tackran grabbed him by the throat and pinned the hybrid to the wall. The boy struggled to break free and thought of retaliating. The prisoner was still laughing and seeing him suffering again.
" You have the scientist fooled you indestructible marvel, but I know now that your body shall be my new vessel! " he exclaimed.
Finally, The boy took out his flashlight using his tail and quickly knocked him down as he flashed the prisoner's eyes. Tackran was yelling in pain.
" STOP IT!! "
" Thanks for the information, but no thanks for your dumb antics, " he sternly spoke.
Tackran phased his hand into a emergency case and pulled out a flare gun putting it to at Vandark's head from a distance. The Kree-Lizard hybrid instantly pushed him onto the floor and still pointed his flashlight at the prisoner's eyes.
" I'm already dead you prick and I'm getting out of here one way or the other! "
" Then get out of here! " the boy angrily yelled. " I SAID YOU'RE FREE TO GO! "
" Then, how?! "
" I won't tell you! Just watch here and wait! "
Tackran ceased and sighed as he heard the boy. The hybrid went outside which it took him some time to find a new body for the prisoner. Suddenly, he saw a deceased Kree man, covered his nose at first, and carried the dead. He returned into the premises when Tackran was surprised to see him.
" There, a peace offering, " the hybrid calmly replied. " Then, afterwards you may go in peace and leave this place. May Tam-Bor guide your way to the new life. "
Tackran was grinning and slowly entering into the blue skinned male body. The boy watched and waited him as he curiously saw the transformation. Tackran the Kree slowly opened his eyes and looked at his new self in the mirror. He was loudly laughing and jumping happily. Finally, it's about time to get out of this abandoned facility for good.
" Thank you! Thank you! " the Kree joyfully beamed and shook the boy's hands. " I am so totally free! How could I ever repay you! "
" Like I said, you're free to go, " he smiled. " This is just my response for helping me where the Kree Eternal is. "
Tackran nodded and immediately left the facility when Vandark carried some goods and turned to the Kree-Lizard boy. He widened his eyes to his astonishment when the prisoner had gone.
" Svet, what happened?! " he rasped. " Where is he? "
" He's free now, " the boy sincerely smiled.
" What?! "
" Just let him go. "
" All right, " the paranormal scientist sighed and changed his topic. " I have decided to join your group, Svet. It seems very interesting to work with more people. "
" Good, " he nodded and shrugged. " We better figure out how to begin, like I can't read or write in English. There must be a device in Russian which I'm used to communicate. "
" The problem is all the communication systems are malfunctioned when I checked the rooms earlier. "
" So, what should we do? "
" We better leave this place and go to Kiev. Then, I can get you a ride to France, just stay away from those evil spirits, the Kree, and the Lizards. "
" Right, " the Kree-Lizard boy showed a map written in Russian as Vandark got surprised to see it. The hybrid pointed at the spot which it showed their current destination. " We're here at Mt. Hoverla. We can get to Kiev in two hours by foot. "
" How did you know all of the navigations, Svet? "
" I have been doing these for years, Dr. Vandark. I travel alone and some with companions. "
" Fascinating! If you were born as a human, you could have been a well-travelled man! "
" Well, I'm a man without a real home and a family, " the hybrid sadly replied. " I deserve nothing. Only my search for the Kree Eternal could give me answers. "
" I know you will find him. Just believe, okay? "
" I hope so. "
" Let's get out of here and set on..."
" Dr. Vandark? "
The paranormal scientist remained speechless as he saw the statue hindering their way out of the building. It remained motionless and stared at the two men. The hybrid had clearly recalled how he died five days ago. It was the same object which it strangled him. He was blinking his both eyes which the statue moved. He also thought of his interrogation with Minn-Erva earlier which the same object had caused her demise two weeks ago.
This time, the Kree-Lizard boy knew how to spare himself and anyone from the anomaly. He controlled his both eyes, not to blink, not even once. He turned to Vandark and thought further, before he spoke up.
" Please, don't blink, " the boy reminded the scientist. " It can kill us anytime, if we do. "
" You don't have to warn me, Svet. " Vandark replied. " I'm thinking of how we can kill it for good. "
" I'm not so sure if we can do that. "
" If we explode this building down, the statue will die. "
" Are you sure with that? "
" It's just an educated guess, Svet. "
" How about we leave it alone and let anyone find and kill it? " the hybrid gave a suggestive look and asked. " Does it make sense? "
" Good plan, Yes. But our enemies will get killed by it. Secondly, if it were fully destroyed, it can revive and multiply. "
" Now, what?! "
" I'm still thinking. "
The statue watched the two men discussing and waited for them to blink their eyes as it readied itself to kill them. The boy looked around and saw an empty containment room where it could seal the object for good. Dr. Vandark's eyes were about to blink. The hybrid boy instantly shook his shoulders.
" What is wrong with you, Svet?! " he raised his voice and got annoyed. " Stop playing games, here! "
" You almost blinked, Dr. Vandark! It will kill you if you do that! "
" Okay, okay, I get it. Have you thought of something? "
" Yes, " the Kree-Lizard boy snapped his fingers and replied. " Like I said, we can leave it and lock it to the containment cell for good! If the MTF finds it, then they can figure it out by themselves to deal with it. "
" Good plan, then we can get to Kiev in no time! "
The statue remained motionless, still waiting for the two would blink. The boy found a large cage above them. Dr. Vandark signalled him to bring down the cage. The Kree-Lizard found a rifle loaded with bullets and aimed at the ceiling. He shot and precisely dropped at the spot of the statue was standing. The two pushed the caged object into the containment cell and securely locked down the cell. Then, the two decided to lock the building and left the horrible grounds of Mt. Hoverla.
Hours later, they were on their way to the city as they saw some civilization, however there were full of slaves coming and going to work at this time of night. They were badly handled by the blue men and their reptilian counterparts. The hybrid and the paranormal scientist exchanged glances as they faced another challenge on the streets of Kiev.
" I thought evil spirits and monsters can be feared, " Vandark anxiously muttered and sadly sighed. " Even the living with the worst intentions are depriving the innocents for liberty. "
" Well, that's what they have been doing. They turn this world into a wasteland for the Kree Empire. Fear has been roaming these days. "
" This is the worst. "
" Surely, it is. "
